What a friggin’ waste.  “Let’s spend $11k on a new bike with the latest and greatest technology and dumb it down with ‘80s tech!”

🤦🏻‍♂️

I’m a 2-stroke guy, but I agree.  It’s the engine and electronics related to the engine that really makes the ‘24 different than the ‘23.  Chassis is supposed to be similar.

Magazines get them next week for first ride impressions.

I agree on the face of it and I certainly wouldn't do it, but it's a new, current gen race bike... they're essentially disposable tools until they reach a certain age and scarcity.

If they were chopping up a mint '96 KX or something it would be a shame, but another one will just leave the factory to take this one's space, who cares what the guy does with his money.

I believe press rides are the 15th.  They are all ‘24’s but odd that a couple have no graphics and have black seat and fork guards.  I wonder if it’s just Axell breaking in his new fleet.

Would it assume the black fork guards/seats are an availability issue, you can't order the green right now.

Worst part is I have a work trip all this week, hopefully can get out next weekend.  Air box is really slick and easy.

Lot of nice little detail improvements, definitely copied a lot of KTM features (air box, lower chain roller now a slide, ODI grips, Brembo front brake system even has torx screws like KTM, the X version uses the DID VT2 oring chain).  Anxious to get out and ride!

Very interested in the new 450x. Especially with that brembo front brake! (Coming off ktms)

I ride gncc. Shoot us a ride report when you get out on it.

63C9688E-B969-4037-B368-EF59FE236335Racing it tomorrow. Air filter itself is super easy but detaching the side panel is a bit of a pain and I can see some people braking it for sure. Going to get my xtrigs on this week. Turns noticeably faster and seems to rev up very quick, stock exhaust sounds pretty good

At least put a modern TBI 2 stroke in it if you do it. Not a dinosaur haha.

Rode one today. Here is my initial thoughts: It turns really good. Definitely feels more like a Honda with more weight on the front end, but retains the Kawi stable feeling. Ergos feel just like a kawi, comfortable and plenty of room in the cock pit. Suspension of of the box was killer. They did a great job with the valving IMO and I am 195.

The engine is good! It is very rideable and has a very good connected feel. It really feels like fast 350 with torque, BUT it’s sneaky fast and smooth but it doesn’t have that “hit” previous Kawi engines have had. I am sure people will say it feels “slow” because of the engine characteristics but it’s not at all.

How was chassis compliance compared to other bikes. (Considering it’s not broken in also…)

Very compliant like the old chassis, just a little more front end bias which is what it needed. I will say the rear and felt short to me. I believe getting a longer chain and pushing the axle back for me would probably be the ticket.

I felt the same way.  I need to get on the tuning app to see what we can adjust there.  It has a mild and full power mode on the handlebar that changes the way the engine delivers power.  I felt like they left all the good stuff and changed what needed to be addressed, which is rare for a mfg to do.  Turns very nice and feels stable.  Ergos are just right.  Very smooth and linear power. Its a good one.

Wheels, forks, triple clamps, fuel tank, chain guide, ignition and clutch cover, shifter, front plate and fender, pegs, sprockets and oil filters. There’s something I’m forgetting. I have to take off the throttle and see which ODI cam they’re using to know if older throttle tubes will fit which I hope since I still have a new PC one to put on from my 22

Thanks. How about the skidplate? Does the frame still have the tabs for it?
