Pretty sure you are right. I would imagine 2nd moto carries more weight so Ken would have gotten 2nd even if he hadn't won the last moto.

I hate that so many people expect for Jett to be perfect in terms of making decisions, especially at his age. We've all made dumb decisions in life but I swear some of you people calling Jett a dick is a bit of a stretch. He had a different thought process at the time and didn't get the math right, which some agreed with and some didn't. I make completely different decisions at 34 than I did at 25. Give him some grace.
The tweet was one of my first thoughts. I was thinking "Oh no, I hope he doesn't go all Unadilla 2002 Stewart on Kenny."
Ken loves to be outspoken and say controversial things, but hearing from the new star that he got gifted that win seems to be a hard pill to swallow.

The points are awarded for the overall finish in SMX. Not per moto like the outdoors. Jet still gets the overall and the max points, 1st place money etc. . His mistake was thinking that Kenny would gain a spot overall ,taking points away from chase. He was doing the math right on his overall finish, but not on how it would change Kenny and Chases points .
I'm a fan of both Kenny and Jett, and I thought it was a dick move towards Kenny to play it off the way he did. I don't think that Jet intended it to be taken that way. But I think it might have just fired Kenny up. The good news for fans is that it could make this last round a great battle instead of the normal snooze that finals tend to be.
Kenny knows the “oh so kind baby gift” is total bullshit. I want everyone, especially the Jett can do no wrong crowd, to rewatch the race with about 3:10 left. Jett had held an over 2 seconds lead for a while and then Kenny decided it was time. He closed down the over 2 second gap in about 30 seconds of track time. That is called running him down. Jett was no longer yo-yo gapping him on parts of the track where he had been before. Look how Jett is still riding hard. Closed from over 2 seconds back to his rear tire and hounded him until 1+30 when he passed him. Then watch how Jett waves him past…to try to make it look like he was letting him by…but Kenny was going to take it either way and they both know it. He did NOT want to give any gift. He no longer wanted to try to hold him off at that pace and have something happen…. knowing that he had the overall anyway. Then Kenny proceeded to gap him by over 5 seconds by the end as Jett backed it down to a safer pace. After Jett finished he angrily rips off 4 tear offs. Does Jett really strike anybody as someone wanting to give up a win…..ever. I think the whole baby gift math in his head story was made up after to try to save face from Kenny being faster at the end ……and him trying to hide it behind a racing benevolence Jett has never shown in his life…ever. My point? Kenny beat him straight up and Kenny knows it…Jett knows it…and anyone watching the race without a fan boy delusion should know it.

Getting waved by is not ”beat straight up”, until he makes a real pass on a charging Jett, this will continue to be a gifted win.

I listened to Jett & Kenny’s chit-chat on the podium & they were both stoked.
Jett was looking to put points between himself & Chase. It’s as simple as that.
Kenny caught Jett and might pass him. If Ken forced his way by and Jett crashed, SMX championship was at risk. Letting Ken by was a safe move and with the Olympic scoring didn’t lose a single point in the championship. Jett’s “gift” hid the real concern he had on Kenny’s speed. No need to let Kenny know he was catching him and fuel Kenny’s fire.

Could tell Ken got a lot faster once he came in for Supercross.

Yes it is- Jett making a dumb decision to let Kenny by is no different than a rider making a dumb decision and crashing (and letting someone by)..both are/were dumb decisions…
I mean. Either Jett let up to let him by because he doesn’t care to lose or Jett let up because he’s a puss.
If his manager decided for him, same scenario just applied to him
the world will never know.
Watch the post race press conference and watch Kenny and Chase when Jett uses words like “let him by”. Then watch them also when asked why he waived him by instead of just going wide in a turn or “making a mistake”. Then as he answers watch Kenny. Three of the best riders in the world are on that stage and they all know it’s bullshit…but he still says it. I’m thinking they know better then a bunch of vital Jett fan boys.

What they do is the same thing every rider on the line do when they tell them self that they can win, but deep down they all know when they are beaten.
Jett won by 10 seconds the first moto and gifted Ken the other moto, why do you think that Ken wrote his heart out again trying to convince the whole world that he ”earned” it?
Jett was thinking of the million bucks and did some math during the race and got it wrong . Then he made an off the cuff remark that wasn’t received to well by Kenny .

Jett was the only rider to raise his hand he was going to win this weekend. There's no lack of confidence there. Who here said MC was a dick when he would slow down down to let riders catch him only to speed off again. (Per his interview in cycle news) psych 101. This kids on top of the world right now. Will SX bring him down a few notches? We'll see, but for now this kids having fun, and that's very bad for everyone else.
Unless you're getting lapped I have a problem with letting someone by for any reason. It's a race, you're paid to race, so effen race. And I also can't understand this "New math" where somehow 1st is better ?, or just as good as 2nd points wise ? This shit's too confusing. If you can win the race then win the stupid race. The little enthusiasm I did have to watch these spin off races just went out the window. Sorry to be negative but come on, I see guys battling their guts out for 15th in the 60 novice class, watching the best in the world not give it their all is tough to watch, for me anyway.
