"For New Zealand native Townley, the 13-year-old son of decorated former racer Ben Townley, the SuperMini World All-Stars will signify his debut on U.S. soil. It was here in America that his father became a star, amassing nine career SMX wins and the 2007 East Region 250SX Class title, and now the opportunity has presented itself for Levi to also capture the attention of the U.S. audience on Saturday."

I've deleted the wrong info that I've found. But saying that "It was here in America that his father became a star", like RacerX does is a little bit over the top. Ben Townley went to the states with one World championship MX2 in his back pocket and 10 125cc/MX2 and 4 MXGP GP wins... But in the USA he had that great Outdoors battle with his team mate and friend Ryan Villopoto back in 2007 and he won the East Coast SX in 2007 too (that year Daytona had a great layout if I remember correctly).

I hope his kid uses the same way as his dad: Europe (EMX - MX2) to get into the AMA series and with a little bit more luck with injuries he could achieve his dream, doing better as his dad. Laughing Fun kid!

My boy was just shy of 16 when he got off 85s and went to a 125.  He was a little big on it but not bad at all and I wasn't doing a supermini.  Honestly he rode it pretty good right before he got off it.  Honestly my little brother who turns 37 today and is built just like my son could shred on a supermini.

I just have to laugh at "they're too big for the bike" comments when we have full grown adults shredding pitbikes. My little brother was taller than me, he was already over 6' here, when he was in his last year on 85's and I was on a 125.. We all ran the classes we could on the bikes we had. If the rules say you can race, then race! He had fun even though he towered over the bike. Grinning

I'm also having a laugh at the hodgepodge of gear he had to put together. My older brother's helmet and boots since he was the biggest, his own gear he liked because we couldn't share pant/jersey sizes and then a pair of my Answer gloves because I have big hands. Good times.

Didn't Townley and the younger Deegan race at a KTM Jr race? Good battle if I remember correctly and Deegan won? Great to see Townley racing and that Yamaha looks trick!

IMG 5510.jpg?VersionId=fvhpWjWgX14 in this pic and too tall for it but I had a blast on it for about a year . No racing but there were plenty of places to ride back then . Then stopped riding till 17 when I got an 82 KX 250 .

Rad!  I dug out the pits at the local car wash for $100 a month. Saved for 4 months and got one exactly like this. Was borderline too big for it at the time but wanted it bad. Rode it in the fields for 6 months or so then I saw a picture of me on it and I looked like the capital letter “S” so I traded it for a high end bmx race bike. Good times and good memories!
