That’s super disappointing to me. It was clear the promoters were doing that For eww and ahhhs of the amount of money.
This is going to end up exactly like Wsx where some teams are paying riders nothing or very small amounts. Not pleased with this at all. I do get teams have expenses but that needs to be not tied to finishing position of the dang rider.

It was clarified that the individual who signs up the rider is who gets paid......meaning in many cases it will be the rider. I guarantee you the factory teams will not be retaining the funds. Now, if you have a shady team manager maybe so, but it seems most or all of those are gone.
I can't answer for zookrider but I absolutely called out the WSX purse money sham when it was announced it was paid to the teams. It's no different for SMX, though the riders in SMX probably have more leverage to get paid.

It was also mentioned that the mid level teams would potentially split smx purse based off what ML said. So that’s a lot of guys or that might get half purse? That’s not cool.
Two teams I know of that race wsx will have guys in smx. Both those teams have multiple guys racing wsx at reduced purse(have seen this myself).

Did WSX advertise that they were paying the riders, or the teams? SMX straight up said they were paying the riders, so yes it would be a lie. Even if every team pays every rider 100%, SMX is not doing what they said they were.
this is a smoldering dumpster fire about to explode and FELD/ MXsports or whomever is responsible for this needs to get ahead of it and release a press release or statement clarifying this… like yesterday. This is amateurish at best that it’s dragged on this long with out something released to clarify by the organization in charge.
MDK won't have anyone in SMX but ClubMX, Firepower Honda and HEP/PMG should
PMG/HEP will as well.
My you have tremendous faith the factory teams will all do the honorable thing. Do you have that in writing? If they change their mind you would never know because of NDA.

It's not about faith....I'm pretty sure for factory riders everything is in writing and understood by both parties if this is the case...nothing has been shown that has confirmed this is the case...as of now it's just a rumor that has not been corroborated...but a lot of people have their panties in a wad over it...

Are you suggesting the factories re-wrote all the contracts based on something we can't get a strait answer on? If not nothing is in writing as you suggest.
When it’s MX Sports any bad PR is a nothing burger in DonM eyes. Now if the WSX tried to pull something this shady he would be harping on it big time

Seems like some key wording here that could be important. ML said the entrant gets paid; in AMA Supercross or Pro Nationals who is the entrant? I mean the entry list contains rider names, not team names. Do teams enter the events and then nominate a rider, or does the team just submit the entry on behalf of the rider (the entrant)?
I believe a lot of teams sign up a rider and pay their entry for the full season as part of their contract before the season starts to ensure entry at each event. Each event is capped at 80 riders and they want to make sure their rider has a spot in the lineup. If this is the case, per what Matthes reported on his Budds Creek review on Sunday, the team would receive the purse. Riders who pay their own entry will receive the purse.

So, maybe this info of who ever does the signing up gets the prize money has come out soon enough that the guys on small teams know to sign themselves up so as to protect themselves from thieving team owners?

I believe the riders enter themselves being their independent contractors and the teams reimburse them
