Monster Energy AMA \\\\Amateur ////National Motocross Championship. I don't think they are amateurs just saying , i race in a age-based Association I don't think no I know we would not let them race against  Amateurs. Must be a flood coming time to break out the SAND BAGS

So you were against your current 250 pro national champion racing at Red Bud as an amateur.

Both my brothers raced nationals. Ronnie (who just won +45) never scored a national point. He came close, I think he got 21st in like 98 or something in a moto. But no points ever. Did a few nationals and a few sx races but then went to freestyle. Just got back into racing more often a few years ago again.

my brother Ricky has multiple top 10s in sx and mx, as well as a few Loretta’s titles.

it. 532 is the best looking # anything with 53 is great tho.  Is there a party planned for your brother ?  A potato gun packed with confetti would be a good start then a massive amount of fireworks.

Yes Ricky was 532

We're all really sorry that Mike Brown stole your spot on the gate at Loretta's....hopefully someday you can recover from this.

Do you realize that some of these amateur kids are making money? A lot of their families wouldn’t even be able to make it to the races if they weren’t making money somewhere. Do you think racers making money from contingency programs shouldn’t be able to race Loretta’s? How about the guys getting paid for winning their local A class? Your stupidity is what would ruin Loretta’s. Not a handful of ex pros who race the “old man” classes. Honestly, you’re the one being a pansy here. Thank god DC is smart enough to not give in to a couple of ding alings on the internet who complain about it.

I think they should pay high school football players a percentage of the gate fee.  This is the logic I see here. Actually, they probably should today........

Anyhow.....

There is nothing amature about amature sports today.  Nothing!!

But I don't agree that former professional  national Champs should be riding at a amature national championship event. They have many events they can race.  Pleezzz!!

I don't see Bobby Bonds playing amature baseball for a national championship.  Yes, he plays amature baseball, but not for a national championship and hockey and basketball doesn't do this either.   That's the difference

And you people that think this is good for the sport also probably think the 10th place pro is getting screwed because he is and can't make a respectable living.   He isn't making any money.  But don't complain, cause he can sit out a year and come back and race Lotetta Lynn's right?  I just don't get it with your logic.

You can't have it both ways.

I have nothing for these two and more power to them. They aren't breaking any rules.  The rules are wacky.  The OEM's write the rules to further bike sales.  Otherwise, we wouldn't have this discussion of plus classes and pros riding the Pro AM class at an amature national

It makes the sport look bad to many.

They actually do pay high school players. Earlier this year they made it legal to pay high-school players. Quite a few of them making good money.

So, you're telling me Mike Brown did not have a 2nd bike?

Where's all the guys that a few months ago were saying a 2nd bike was totally unnecessary to make a run at LL"s?  I think Mike Brown might disagree right about now.....   Laughing

If Mike had a second bike, he could only use it for parts.  You have to race the same frame for the entire week.  My guess is he did have a spare bike but not enough time to do an engine swap.

His DNF in +40 caused him to DNS in +50, a totally different class.  Pretty sure he could use a different bike for the different class, so long as he had used that 2nd bike the entire week in that 2nd class.  Basically they record a frame VIN for each class you enter.  Even if that weren't the case, Renner said above he ran out of time searching for a spare engine.  Sounds like he did not have a 2nd bike readily available.

I guess there goes the theory of the haters who say "KTM is paying him to race" LOL

High-school sports are crazy anymore. Teams recruiting and getting sponsors to pay players to go to different schools.

When I made my effort to qualify for LL’s in 2016, the area qualifier was at 3 Palms in Houston Tx. When I signed in I had to announce which bike I intended to ride and provide the VIN number on my entry. When I went out for first moto, they VERIFIED that my VIN was correct and then checked it before both motos going onto the track. I believe Brown COULD have ridden a different bike in each class BUT as mentioned above, IF he had encountered his same scenario he would be required to ride the same chassis he’d announced for each class and would be required to use the other bike ONLY as a parts bike and had to swap in the engine OR he would be disqualified attempting to ride a different bike/chassis in the incorrect class. 😎 👍❗️

Go back and read that again carefully.  His bike broke in +40 in the 3rd moto.  So that class was already done and wasted.  No need to fix the bike for that class.  If he had been using a 2nd bike for +50, he would have just jumped on his 2nd bike for the  3rd moto of +50.  But since he only had one bike, the DNF in +40 also rolled into a DNS for +50.

Yes correct. He would have been required to ride each declared bike in its respective class. Would have been no point repairing the Senior 40+ bike with the break down in the 3rd moto. Since he had declared the same bike for the Master 50+ class his only resort would have been to move/swap the engine out of the other bike if he had a spare bike with him. I was trying to agree that you were correct! He could have ridden a 2nd bike in the 50+ class as long as he had declared that from the beginning and they had his correct VIN for each class… I just didn’t do a very good job articulating that in my previous post! 😎 👍❗️

I'm looking forward to running the 45+ in a few years. I worked my ass off for a 4th overall in the 40+ this year and I'm personally ok with any top pro rider who wants to come back and race it. It's an honor to line up with the best to ever do it. I think what people are actually asking for is more like a Vet B/C class or something...

Honest question.  Blow an engine and put another in the same frame is ok.  What if you crack a frame?

There used to be a blacksmith guy set up there, under a tent, with a welding machine. Been a few years since i've been, but he used to fix broke stuff.

Yes, changing a complete engine is legal.  Change suspension, change tires, change wheel sets. all legal (I guess you get the idea). If you crack a frame, hopefully it can be repaired,

You can change frames if you break a frame but it has to be inspected & signed off by the ama official/referee
