With RC taking the sport to a level of fitness and preparation, training is mandatory obviously.
Have you heard of any strange training or fitness programs riders have tried (allegedly)? As a former personal trainer, it would blow my mind to hear what people were willing to do to lose weight.
I'm sure there will be some Ryno comments in here too lol
Ryno Equipment Trainer
This is peak marketing
I remember when Ferry hired that crazy Frenchie Carl for his comeback.
Didn't Tony Alessi make Mike row a boat to resume upper body workouts while lower body was out of commission?

This doesn’t really fall in line with the “fitness program” part of the post, but whatever happened to the 4Arm Strong thing that was around several years ago?
Or MonaVie
People will do anything to lose weight except work hard! lmao
They had a few big name riders on the bandwagon for a bit. I think the KTM boys, or at least Marv, was really into it.
Whos going to carry the boats?!!
EPO (Erythropoietin) the bone marrows best friend! More a training essential for every pro rather than strange!
It works well for what it's designed to do. But people believing it's going to cure all arm pump are nuts. I think that was the biggest issue people believing it did more then what they said it did.
Jimmy button had a set up like that when he was working on trying to get back from his neck injury. It works well again for what it's designed to do.
Didn’t Davi’s mom shoot at him with a BB gun?
Don’t forget the throwing star/clip board 👍
Don’t forget the locker
Never forget!
I’m pretty sure you’re spot on, all I remember is seeing a video clip of Tony next to Mike on a jet ski with a stop watch around his neck ripping Mike a new ass.
Pit Row
They don’t know me son
I think I read something back in the day were Wardy wrapped his forearms in ice and did some sort of forearm pump exercises. I’m not sure which ones….maybe spinning a weight up a broomstick with your arm’s straight out.
I gotta say, that thing does look kinda fun if you had it in sync with a video game. I'd fucking ride it for shits and gigs. Not for an actual work out, but looks fun TBH.
I ride those a bunch, but usually at local parks and they are exotic animals.
I remember seeing a video of a display at a Supercross race, and the guy was wearing a headset riding one of those things.
I thought he was going to eat shit at one point.
There was a lady next to it trying to make sure he didn't bail off.
I'll see if I can't find it.
Edit:
I don't see anything wrong with that at all. The only problem I see is possibly the spring is too springy. I do bike stand drills sometimes but to get a good workout it is rough on my knees which are junk already. I guarantee that if the average weekend warrior did a simulated 20-minute moto twice a day three times a week he would ride better as well as having more fitness. I will never believe that muscle memory is not helpful. If you are having trouble riding on the balls of your feet, two weeks of practice on a stand should go a long way to improving your footwork.
I knew a pro who stayed at home as Mr Mum while his wife worked full time. The majority of his off the bike training, and he swears this is true, was he did whatever the kids did.
If they were running around the yard, he ran with them, on the trampoline, then he was jumping too, climbing trees, up he went, riding bikes etc. He reckoned it was the fountain of youth and was the fittest he ever was 😂
Strange? Maybe not, but certainly unique.
"If it aint hard it aint training"
If I could give any young racer a bit of advice, it would be to get a Personal trainer to work with in the gym!
We race bikes one day a week but work out 4-5 days a week, the workouts are such an investment and have to be of quality.
I know more now in my 40s about health & fitness & training than I did when I was racing and trying hard. The biggest mistake amateur athletes make is going hard too much!
Like me... I spent most of my racing years tired due to over training.(Or under-resting) If I could have learned to back off and taper, then Im 100% certain Id have been a better racer.
80:20.... 80% of your training is super easy. Whilst 20% is super hard. Thats how to do it.
Now, just about to jump on the CX bike for a 90minute zone 2.. :-)
Ive cycled 5200 miles in a year and put weight on!
People will do anything to lose weight except clean up their eating! You cant out-run a bad diet.
Okay, aside from the stand, what system is being used to integrate the bike movements into the game? Nothing fitness related, I just think this would be fun as hell to have at home.
