I honestly don't understand the downvotes when I'm showing you actual facts about their timelines. Its clear as day that Ferrandis is the better rider. Whether or not you like his attitude is irrelevant. Sure the Factories want a rider with personality and are marketable. BUT you can't truly sell motorcycles without winning races. AC is much farther from a race win than DF is. I hope DF gets a ride. And if not, what a damn shame.

I tend to agree with you, Magoo. There are some who have recently "re-upped" on their contracts that really haven't (IMO) done much...or at least what I would expect a real, hotshot "Factory Team Rider" to do. ML could probably answer better...but can't GasGas afford to support another rider as well as Barcia on the 450? How about H.E.P. Suzuki? I like Chiz...but he could do as well on a semi-support team. IMO...Kawie could and should make a hole.

On the other hand, if Dylan is a habitual whiner, that looks/sounds bad for the brand & team. They don't need to invest in someone who brings heat on the team.

Sorry but the bikes sell regardless of the winners. Shit, people still buy Suzuki's.

None of us know the data, but I bet AC social media presence alone sells just as many bikes as Dylans title did from a few years ago.

And you can't pull the "Less stacked field" card and just use it against AC.  Same goes for DF.

I buy a bike every 3 years. I've never made a purchase based off who is currently winning the most. Those bikes are lightyears different from anything we will ever ride.

At the end of the day the OEMs are racing to sell bikes, whether it be by winning races or Youtube videos or Instagram whatever, obviously a 20th place guy that's really popular isnt going to get a factory guy but you get it.

Also coming into the 2023 SX season everyone bitching about certain riders not having factory rides or CC and AC having factory rides, who else are you going to give a factory ride to? All the highlighted names are on Factory teams (HEP Suzuki is borderline I think Roczen had close to factory style support the other two maybe not). I could maybe see the argument for Savatgy possibly but he is also notoriously hard to work with as well.

You're going to try and tell me that Tomac's 2 titles last year and his SX winning this year didn't sell a shit ton of Yamaha's compared to AC's instagram? Get real. #1 most sold bikes are Yamaha's right now since 2021. And the new '23 YZ450F is by far the most sought after 450 because of Tomac's supercross success with it in the first year.

I would argue too that it had an even bigger effect since it was first year bike and he was so successful right off the bat, certainly makes it seem like the bike is very easy to get along with.

Dylan needs a gig at a time when there aren’t any avail outside of HEP or maybe a WSX gig.

Beyond that? He could do his own thing like Barcia did and his fans will love him for it.

Maybe try MXGP…?

If he can't get a ride here, MXGP might be his best bet.

Under contract. They've had AC his whole career, it's a bit of a gamble taking Dylan this late in his career for maybe one or two years. Even if he does win, it'll be a blip in his career and most won't recognize him on the Kawi or ever think about it again.

Is it more of a gamble than Forkner who has won nothing in 14 attempts?

Proven winner against ' i will win next year'.

Its all about how much they want.

Were talking ET3 who has a GIGANTIC following. He's been a fan favorite for years and years. Just him switching to Yamaha probably sold a ton of bikes.

Apples to oranges.

And how can you say the yz450 is the most sought after bike when you have no idea what the sales numbers are compared to other brands.

Facts and opinons are not the same...

I understand timing etc but the Craig one really stands out to me. He has done fuck all since moving up now he has a serious injury etc.

I wonder if any manufacturer has done a "special clauses/amendable" contract for cases like this? IE). Husky hires Dylan as a "fill-in" like JGR did w/ Phil for when Craig/Malcom gets hurt again. The money doesn't kick in till he starts racing. Honestly probably wouldn't be a bad deal for him but its a lot to ask of a past champion to ride the bench while CC goes out and gets 14th or w/e.

His 450SX results are holding him back.  He was great on the 250 but yet to prove 450SX skills.  Lots of guys in the same boat as he is.

Yep, I can't remember him doing anything worthy in 450SX and this is where the spotlight is for the manufacturers.

Amazing how many people have no clue how budgets and contracts work...The timing for Dylan sucks unfortunately there aren't enough rides available and nobody is going to drop anybody in a multi year contract just to make room, that costs more money to do...

Count me in as not being an expert...and I agree no team is going to drop a rider that has a multi-year deal, but why do some of these teams sign riders have been giving them such a low ROI? I mean, some of these riders must have some pics of the company CEO with a submissive farm animal!

Honestly it could be a blessing in disguise. Sit back and see what happens.  When the right seat opens up,  take it.  Otherwise enjoy the break. Be a test rider in france.

I dont see how Forkner can have a 'tag'.

If anyone signs him on anything other than a bonus related contract, they are out of their minds.

DF values himself higher than those signing the cheques, which is always a problem , and Tomac coming back means there is one less seat to fill in his team.

Love to see him back in MXGP

I strongly agree that no one should be signing Forkner to any stabile salary. It should be results based pay ONLY. Kid is the most crash worthy rider in the history of Kawasaki since Cianciarulo, who's still on a Kawi and getting hurt every year..

No downvote from me. I was shocked after a quick look at the vault how good of a season Dylan had in 2021. For some reason I thought he got hurt early on in SX and sat out the rest of the season. But like others have mentioned AC is the face of Kawasaki and has probably sold them a ton of bikes. I didn't think Anderson would be back at Kawi for 24 but it sounds like he is. Would have been cool to see Dylan finish his career aboard a green bike.

I don't ever remember Dylan complaining about bikes prior to this year. Plus I don't think it's him whining, he's just being honest that the bike isn't where he wants it be. I'm not a KYB suspension tech or anything but.... Maybe his bike would handle better if he wasn't running 125mm of sag. Lol
