I’m sorry but

My one and only gripe - can someone please tell Ricky the Goat that it is not a “yo-yo” effect when Chase closes in on Jett and then Jett pulls away. That is NOT a yo-yo. A yo-yo goes up and down on a string. It is an ACCORDION.

There. I feel the balance coming back to the cosmos again now that I cleared that up.

And anytime Ricky the Goat says’ “He is in a MUST situation,” can someone pour Tabasco in his mouth? That should cure him.

lol.

WTF !!!!! Some of you on here just like to bitch about the dumbest shit. A bunch of OLD LADIES. They should have your own forum and call it " The View" a place for bitches to bitch. I don't know why it bothers me so much to post but I feel we are lucky with the coverage we now have.

You can find fault with just about any broadcast in any sport. Most of you that complain must be new to the sport or still pop pimples! The MX/SX coverage is leaps and bounds better than it has ever been. EVER.... Is there some stuff missed? Sure, it happens. News Flash but there's a lot going on. Weege is the best in the business with his knowledge and enthusiasm and he actually loves the sport. RC and Stewart obviously put their work in in the booth and bring different aspects and view points. RC gets crap from some of you and I don't get it. And Stewart really put his time in and compared to last year he's pretty dam good. You guys don't remember or even know how much this sport has grown TV coverage wise. And I think we are pretty dam lucky to be able to watch practice and all 4 motos' LIVE!!! You forgot what lasts years outdoor coverage was like??? As much as I think it stinks too to miss Hunters late crash or other things like that I'll gladly still say thank goodness we have what we have for coverage. Go watch a F1 race and see how many screw ups you will find. You'll understand my rant.

This all the fucking way. People just like to bitch. Guess it makes them feel better about their pitiful asses. For the price of a Starbucks drink a month we get awesome coverage.

The problem is Bondo.

I feel like RC and Weege would do a better job if the camera was on the action, then, they could commentate "organically".

Camera choice is the number one problem and has been for a long time. They have similar issues in MXGP but Malin will actually complain on the live broadcast asking to "go back to that battle" etc.

This right here.

It's the producers. Weege and RC is are just reacting to what they/we see on screen. I get they're limited with the funding and tech etc but this is why it's so important that producers follow the relevant things happening on track. And at the same time, the commentators/analysis need to able to describe and talk well.

Although I doubt he'll come back even if offered I wish GL was still the analysis. He was great

Yep totally agree...RC was hoping so bad that Chase would get around Jett in the 1st Moto but Chase must have been listening to JS7 from last week " Just tuck the front end son " lol

How do you fast forward through the Peacock commercials on replay? It makes me stop and watch them with the little timer thing in the corner

On another note, as much as we'd like it to be unfortunately nothing is "organic" in entertainment. They would literally have production meetings before every round and discuss what they're going to cover and the narrative they're telling? So weege and RC aren't completely innocent in the coverage. They would know part of their job is to tell a "story". No matter how irrelevant it is to us.

It's an absolute fucking joke. This weekend was so much worse than usual. In the second motos, they missed so many passes, I couldn't believe it. On the Weege Show today he even admitted they missed Jett's finish line mishap because they were showing a crash replay. We don't need any fucking replays mid race! WE need a fundamental new philosophy for how this sport is shown because right not its fucking trash.

TO THE POWERS THAT BE:

NO replay should be shown during the live racing, especially in the first 10 minutes, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON we shouldn't be seeing EVERY fucking pass in the top 15, let alone 10. We missed a pass for 2nd and 4th yesterday in the second 250 or 450 moto, and weege literally told us about it like its a podcast, "as we were away". Why the fuck were you away? We have 4, 35 minute races per motocross race weekend, why are we not doing our best to cover as much as possible from those races? All these dudes wanna do is tell fucking stories, we have 700 podcasts, a halftime and wrap up show, but during the races they treat it like a fucking podcast unless its a pass for the lead. STOP TELLING STORIES DURING THE MOTOS, true moto fans are tired of fucking watching the timing bar to the left to see whats happening, we can watch timing and scoring for free, we PAY to SEE IT! SHOW US THE RACING, our passes in motocross are our goals and big plays, why are we missing them??

FGB,  I had to chuckle at the handful of times they messed up calling Jett, Hunter and visa versa.  Then I open up the complaint thread and you messed it up also. (It was Hunter's "finish line" last lap mishap not Jett's) It is easily done but I would expect the announcing crew to quit making those mistakes at some point.

I am not a fan of RC announcing at all.  I was ok with him but knew he could do better until I watched him on a fishing show down in Florida.  The host practically pulled teeth through the whole episode to get a decent conversation with RC.  It became apparent then, he was not going to get much better.  With that being said.  Other than the Hunter/ Jett mistakes, I thought it was his best job thus far.  It was the first time since the absolutely great JS7 podcast with him and James that he didn't try to relive their narrative from that show on air.

No offense brother, I'm not speaking on Hunter's last lap mishap, if you listened to any post shows, before Sexton crashed on that left handed single after the finish line, it was mentioned Jett messed up and Sexton was right on him.

But hey flickitflat, just a microcosm of things we should've already seen on the broadcast...

7/16/2023 5:37pm

I reckon so.  I watched the race and the presser but I missed that one.  But, they pretty much missed Hunter as well, so I thought that was what you were talking about.

my wife and I have had the discussion about what the commentators are saying and I had commented how much better the GP announcers were.

Today while I was watching the MXGP she asked did you hear that? She then said that is only 1 person talking and not a discussion between 2 people. She then said he is talking like a radio commentator would while talking about a baseball game play by play.

What I perceive, though I don’t know the facts

Although MXGP is also televised, it is produced by the core MXGP-TV.Com crew. JT has been a guest from time to time, but it is always on the racing without fluff pieces during the races and the target audience are the core MX fan base. Malin is sharp enough he knows when the broadcast team misses a crash and doesn’t let key moments by for very long.

Peacock is looking at expanding the fan base and has the fluff pieces to explain to the masses things that make the core fan eyes roll, especially when during the race and missing key moments.

All the prior comments about room for improvement will only go so far because Peacock is not listening to the core audience IMO.

I think people's expectations are beyond realistic, and usually from a very narrow, extremely selfish point of view.

There are 40 people on track, often in great battles, if you ONLY show the leaders for fear of missing out on a crash or a pass etc, they would bitch about not showing the rest of the pack.

If they TRY and occasionally show the rest, they bitch about missing the leaders mishap or pass....

Could it not be that it's just an extremely difficult job and that each shot has a lead time that sometimes just doesn't fit the instant nature of Motocross?

They almost always show a replay of some pass or fall if they didn't get it on the live broadcast and if they didn't so what, cut them some slack, they were filming something else that they thought was happening.

I highly doubt anyone there is trying to do a bad job...it just reinforces the point, it's MUCH harder than it looks.

I hope all you negative nancies get criticised so heavily at your own jobs.

All it means to me is is Chase put on a dangerous charge, (and fell again) and Jett masterfully manages gaps.

I’ve said it more than once, start the broadcast 15 minutes after the gate drop and put some production value into the broadcast. I am a  core fan since the 80s and could care less if it’s “live” i’m just sick and tired of all the missed action and mush mouth commentating from these guys. I don’t know if it was RC throwing weege off but even he was bad this weekend, it’s a more natural flow when James is there.

I feel like RC and Weege would do a better job if the camera was on the action, then, they could commentate "organically".

Camera choice is the number one problem and has been for a long time. They have similar issues in MXGP but Malin will actually complain on the live broadcast asking to "go back to that battle" etc.

This is the problem, not Bondo but that RC and Weege only speaks about what’s in front of them.

If they actually kept track of the laptimes instead of speaking about RC’s 20+ year old races, they could say that ”Sexton closed in 2 seconds this sector” and the TV crew could switch to that.

but im just here watching it on my app, seeing Chase close in second for second an nobody mentions it until the camera switches over to the front runners two laps later only to here Weeges classic: ”WHAAAAIIIT A MINUTE! Sexton has actually caught up to Jett!”…

yes, we saw that happen on the times a couple of laps but you did not mention it one time…

Commentators are told, on pain of death, to only talk about action the viewer can see on screen.

Our expectations are beyond realistic? To expect someone to call the race like every other motorsport does. If I made the same mistakes week in week out for years at work I'd be fired, not have someone trying to defend my actions on the internet. Like you defending the clown show
