Don’t make this a wsx debate, especially when your example is so far from reality.

What do you mean ?

might be a terrible analogy, but my point is that these guys taking a big paycheck to go to race the WSX shouldn’t be looked down on. How many ex-pro riders do you know ? I know many and they would have all taken a big check to go race a new series that is offering an easier schedule for a lot more money.

Right ?

not sure why some “fans” feel that the guys racing SX/MX seem to think that they owe the them something. It’s a very short career with lots of injuries (for most) that most can’t retire from. There’s probably 5 guys that have raced MX/SX that could’ve actually retired from racing alone. Yet they all have side gigs to supplement their income.

Supporting wSX is cutting off your nose to spite your face.    This has been discussed in many threads.

Exactly,   selfish fans want want want for them, not worry about whats best for the rider.

It's been discussed often, and your side's argument falls over every time because none of the riders are saying WSX is bad.

Was waiting for this thread to pop up.

Honestly I don't think it is a price issue as some speculated, it is more that good 450 seats are VERY limited. Which factory team has a ride ? None, simple as that. Bad timing on the musical chairs. But a heck of a signing for a team like HEP after they also got Roczen (also a bit by miracle). Do you imagine they could be both on the podium in and out while still being watched as underdogs ? Otherwise Beta, Ducati, Triumph or Stark should be all over him as he is one of the best top guys regarding testing, he takes it seriously, as much as his fitness.

What I find amazing is the last rookies are having a hard time finding a ride ; Cooper, Nichols, and now Ferrandis although he has a 450 mx championship. Meanwhile we had like 4 factory riders this year at some nationals ... That means we have like 80 people on the factory payrolls but no riders to show up ... Something may need to be fixed, that much infrastructure but no bike or just 1 on the track is not a great look. Fortunately the 250 class is often more exciting these days.

Ferrandis can get a ride. The issue seems to be that he is relatively expensive and for some reason there aren't many willing to pay what he wants.

I wouldn't necessarily say what he wants. It's what he earned after being dominant in the 250's and winning SX and MX titles and then being so dominant in the 450's and winning the Outdoor title they he did in 2021. He was the best in the business. You do that you get a top Factory contract. He's just been in a funk this year after the type of concussion he sustained and it's just coming at the worst time. That being said he is looking great as this outdoor season moves along and wouldn't be surprised if he wins a National before the season is done. He technically has a option at Star next year. Just think the money Tomac commands that if he does resign there's no more budget.

After watching in person Ferrandis bust his ass and get 3rd over on a day as bad as it was at Southwick I for the life of me can't see someone get him a ride.

Imo, if I'm Kawi I'm dropping Anderson and picking up Ferrandis. Now that Anderson has a kid he's seems to realize there's bigger things in life. He actually admitted that when he was injured he rather stay at home with his kid than race.

Its all about SX in the US and his results haven't been all that.

Too be fair, I was speaking of Roczen and DF, but then again, they are all making more than they would’ve made racing outdoors. It’s another way to extend a few careers as well. I don’t see a problem with it, although it’s definitely a 2nd tier program at the moment.

Dylan should go back to MXGP and kill it over there. He gets injured in SX, that destroys both SX and affect MX. Was wild on 250, 450 SX will not make it easier on him as we are seeing.

Just be done with US, and make a good living in MXGP. On the right bike, he is championship contender.

Kawasaki is not good at signing 450 riders. Last good one was Villo which seems like eons ago.

Anderson's last year was really good!

4th hand rumour is that Nastasia does not particularly care for North Florida living, and maybe wants to return to Europe.

Problem is that Yamaha MXGP team is full next year even with the Hoff possibly retiring, and maybe the team itself will be under new ownership.

I'm sure he will get offers, but for as much money as he would like?  Who knows.  Maybe DV has some insight....

I don’t have a problem with it either. I just think other than Kenny, the guys are being paid decent but nothing crazy good. I think the series paying Kenny directly is going to backfire but obviously great for ken. Honestly if they feel they can make more doing sx/wsx I’m all for it.

Ok, we’ll we are getting closer to an understanding… lol

I don’t know what the other riders are being paid, so I can’t defend this argument, but chances are they are making more than racing outdoors in the heat all summer.

I hate to say it but I'd drop AC before Ando.

Always been a fan of his intensity on the bike but I’m a bigger fan after listening to his pulp interview. It would be insane to lose him due to not having a ride!

Even though the aim is to kill the Nationals?   Which in turn will kill tracks, sales of bikes etc.   The average Joe doesn't ride supercross circus act tracks.

wSX is the equivalent of Wal-Mart moving into a community that puts mom and pop places out of business.    But hey....it's all about the money right?

Thankfully, wSX looks to be tanking hard.

I like DF but possibly the reason he's got no offers for next season is he is that he repeatedly blames the bike?? I like that hes honest. It's great. Whatever. But let face it teams don't like their riders talking badly about their own bikes. There's a reason why some riders who don't perform keep getting factory rides. They're happy to tow the line and represent the team well.

I like Ferrandis too, and I know the spin Honda put on Roczen leaving had (they say) 100% to do with him doing WSX no matter what...but I've got a feeling that him whining about the bike as much as he did had a little to do with it too. I bet nobody shed a tear when he left. OEM's want riders to sing praises about their bikes...even if they suck.

I think the obvious huge question is was 2023 SX a fluke for Ando or is that the new normal? We've seem him in funks like that before only to return to the highest level, but you could easily make the case that he's over it.
