Is it time for the factories to invest elsewhere in the AMA 450 outdoors?
Jett is next generation version of Stefen Everts, he’s needs world class competition & it’s just not happening.
Obv supercross is the main focus stateside, so why not say AMA SX into WSX for the summer , or AMA SX into MXGP for the summer.
The factory’s can put the AMA 450 budget into helping MXGP organise the US riders into the teams, ensure 2 USA GP’s are on the calendar, basically use the budget to make it happen properly Supported with taking any current GP rides.
AMA 250 remains supported and acts like a feeder class, AMA 450 becomes a well paid privateer team only series. Winner of the 450 Class would likely get a factory fill in ride soon enough.
Ultimately the talent is too diluted & I don’t think that helps the sport in general, let only gives the fans what they most crave, the best racing the best…
I think that's a little extreme and not really necessary. AMA 450 outdoors is duluted but that's due to the combination of Jett being a generational talent, riders like Roczen doing WSX, and a lot of injuries this year - Barcia, Mookie, Webb, Anderson, Tomac, Craig, etc.
Could have said the same thing when RC was dominating. Anytime a generational talent comes around. Herlings won 17 of 20 rounds in MXGP in 2018.
interesting ( and different ) take. you just made Davey Coombs spit up his banana muffin.
Yeah no

I’m one of those people that are not with the popular belief on vital, I love SX over MX by a long way, I do really enjoy the outdoors and can’t wait for the weekends to see the gate drop..
This year is just a freak year where there is no one in the 450 class, but thankfully there is plenty of drama in the 250 class..
If chase and Eli were healthy, this series looks VERY different
Maybe, but the future is changing regardless as more & more riders will be drawn to the WSX.
Assuming that trend continues factories will be forced to back less & less talented riders.
Wouldn’t it be better to selects a few US heroes to take on the world with proper factory backing, best race the best globally either WSX or MXGP.
USA will still have the biggest national series in the world SX & MX.
OP and wSX can suck it.
I feel like people are just too damn hard to please. A lot of people are in a twist, because Jett is killin it, but take him out of the series and everyone would be looking a Chase Sexton and next level, because he's beating Ferrandis by 30 seconds. McGrath winning 7 SX titles was not considered boring, RC winning 15 championships and 2 of them were perfect was not boring, James Stewart dominating was not boring, but then Jett comes along and spectators make every excuse as to why he has a perfect rookie season in the 450 class upon a Honda race bike that people like to say is too extreme and can't win the Vitalmx shootout. If Tomac comes back next year and can't beat Jett, the excuse will be he's not fully recovered from his ruptured achilles and was off the bike to long. It never ends. I'm going to Washougal to watch the Nationals and I can guarantee the place will be PACKED, there will be a 10 mile long line of cars to get into the place and you'll have to walk forever to get from your truck to the track, but the racing will be amazing and a huge amount of people going will be cheering for Jett, because he's the new BIG thing in motocross.
MXGP? that series that has half full gates, right?
So you’re saying factories should pull from the series in the country where they sell the most bikes annually and instead follow a series that most in that there largest customer base couldn’t even name a rider from? Sounds like a solid marketing plan that will for sure sell some bikes.
They had 180 entries yesterday
the factories are not going anywhere
All the guys that have been sidelined by injury doesn’t change the fact that Jett is crushing it & every time someone shows up to challenge him…he still pulls off a clean sweep.
The thing that makes me LOL is allllll the drama that unfolds and the crazy solutions that some folks come up with. We don’t need to change anything…the sky is not falling…this isn’t all that unusual…unless you forget how RC & James pulled it off 3 times…and there’s been quite a few racers that have come along and opened a can of Whoop Ass on the field.
The way Jett is mastering his starts and immediately throws down a perfect lap is inspiring.
There's a reason I don't race the AMA National 450 class, because I'm old, I'm slow, I suck and I'm too unskilled to jump Larocco's leap without killing myself and the slowest guy that qualifies for a AMA 450 main event and gets lapped by Jett Lawrence would lap me probably 10 times in a moto, plus I don't think I could handle the humiliation of Team HRC laughing, while timing my laps and I'm trying my hardest to earn a ride on their team and I'm riding my Works edtion CRF450 at 25% of it's potential. I think 450's are perfect and it takes an amazing talent to earn a spot with a factory team and do what they do, that's why we go to see them race, because we know how hard it is to race a motocross bike at their level. Everything is perfect right now, SX and MX is dangerous and shit happens once in awhile to the top guys, but get over it and enjoy the racing, because everyone on that track is better then you and not posting on Vitalmx forums, while us armchair Quarterbacks are.
WSX will have its place, but I continue to believe it will be the elderly sportsman of our series just like Roczen is doing to prolong their career. Not sure how you can say it is going to be the path moving forward when it is barely a series and it just had its second round canceled due to lack of ticket sales.
Bad attempt at trolling.
No the factories would still support SX & 250 outdoors.
The issue your all missing, or refusing to accept is there is very little actual racing in the 450 class. The talent is too far spread.
Yes MXGP suffer with few numbers, but in general the quality of riders is higher & they are closer in speed. This brings high quality racing.
USA seems to be quantity over quality in the 450 class.
Why not make it a stock class & send the big boys to the GP races ?
This take is a total failure.
You say total failure, I’d say moving with the times.
When’s the last time you got see a US world champion? 🤔
Why don't you move with the times and go troll elsewhere....
Pit Row
The last time I cared….Bad Brad! If you don’t think Jett would smoke all the euros just as bad, your high. Just accept the fact at how fast Jett is and that he’s only riding at 80%
He was trained by the euros while Hunter was racing in Europe, that’s why he’s so good.
Point it’s the sport is way too diluted, we need to find a way to get the best racing on the same line.
The US is going to loose talent to WSX, I don’t create WSX I’m just pointing out the obvious.
Factory supporting a series with a vastly disproportionate amount of privateers is just daft & doesn’t create decent entertainment.
Let the privateers race on a level playing field & send the big dogs off to play together. It’s not that difficult a concept really.
Honestly, most fans here don't care about that .
Jett would 100% lay the wood to mxgp class. All day long.
That’s because currently they have no hope of one.
It is strange though seeing as your such a patriotic nation. Which is a great thing IMO.
Im talking about a proper world Champs. With a Australian round, and also 2 US rounds.
Final Round at Red Bud & Tomac just clinched the title from Herlings & Gasjer.
Your telling me the fans wouldn’t care ?
You would have a new goat 🐐
And then he'd invite them to a Supercross track and lap the entire field of MXGP riders, including Jeffrey Herlings.
If a top American went over for sure it would create interest like it did with Villopoto , but if you asked the fans which title means more most would say the AMA title . So they would want our top guys to stay here .
Using your logic, the manufacturers should have completely left the MXGP class when Herlings was healthy and completely dominating the rest of that class……
Thankfully, no one in charge believes that your knee jerk reaction take is logical.
I suppose that this may be your first season following MX/SX, but last season’s 450 Nationals was a nail biter that had one of the more exciting points races for a premier series in quite a while. This season is an extreme anomaly, and if you have been interested in the sport more than a few minutes you’d probably realize that……
Nope, because Herlings will be out hurt.
yes. the best should go to MXGP and usa nats should become a feeder series at the 450 level. sad that you got so many downvotes.
Would be cool if there were a couple rounds of MXGP and US nationals that overlapped so we could see the entire field race. Your idea is really dumb though.
