You will see at least one new track in 2011, I promise. We are still working on the SE, as well as some sites in the midwest and further west.

Several reasons, but a significant one was the fact that Hangtown can't run on Memorial Day Weekend due to a big river fest that takes place there on that weekend each year, which occupies all of the hotels and restaurants.

The SE gets screwed once again. It sure would be nice to have a national track closer than 9 hours away...

From Maryland to Colorado to Michigan... logistics man, logistics!

Minnesota to Washington to (at least a weeks break though) New York..logistics man, logistics!

Is there some reason it doesn't make sense to do the west coast rounds then travel to the east coast or vice versa?

Why not go from Michigan to Washington since there is a 2 week break, then head back to Minnesote>New York, etc.?

I have faith the Promoters and MX Sports struggled with driving logistics, before presenting the schedule.Unsure

Washougal can basically run it's national on one weekend in July, and we do our best to try to tie it in with the X Games for the teams. Colorado has similar challenges, and they asked to stay in June so that there was separation between their event and the MXoN. Budds Creek was not working in August and they asked to go back to their traditional date, which is Father's Day. High Point moved off of Memorial Day after nearly 30 years so that the two California races could be back to back, followed by Texas and then east for HP and MD....

There's a lot to consider here -- competition from other events (river fest in Sacramento, Mountain Fest in Morgantown, Red Bud is always July Fourth weekend, X Games, etc.) -- and that is the best we could. Next year, it could look entirely different.

Further west? How do you get any more western than Washougal and Sacramento?

And with new facilities coming on, what current ones are on the chopping block?

I would vote for adding more, but that may not be realistic.
The new Iowa Speedway near Des Moines International Airport (Iowa), has some nice natural terrain, outside of the stadium, that could be made into a National track.

When I said "further west," I meant further from the midwest that I mentioned in that response Rusty. Utah has a few interesting places, for instance. And Highsider (sorry), I have heard that Iowa Speedway is an impressive place -- from a certain ex-motocrosser-turned-popular truck driver, no doubt!

There are lots of places to talk about, but the line forms behind the Southeast. We know that, we looked at a lot of places, and will continue to look. We plan on moving a race there in 2011, most likely one of the two Pennsylvania races. But for now, we're focused on making 2010 even better than '09, which I think was a pretty good starting-over point.
