If he ever wants to win on a 450 he's going to need a freak occurrence to happen to Jett ala Rick Johnson
Hunter will be really good on a 450. Like, really good
LOL, you are forgetting how he turns into Barcia on the last lap when he's behind...
Or grabbing up Stylez (edit. Stilez) Robertson.
Or moaning about getting a penalty for jumping on a red cross flag.
Or constantly hopping out of that rut in supercross trying to nail Thrasher.
Seems like a good dude generally when you see him with fans or Moto Academy folks, and obviously the guy rips, so I'm not trying to shit talk him. He's a young man and a racer, I get that he needs to have some fire.
But the attitude when things don't go his way feels borderline right now.

Holy crap! What a little sh-t! Looked back like “Yeah! Got your as-!”
What an as-!
I also see Hunter being better suited to the 450 than Jett.
Unfortunately he is at least a year behind.
Honestly I was waiting for him to repeat the Stilez interaction on Deegan at Thunder Valley a couple of weeks ago but he kept his cool at least publicly.
Reasons might include:
- he won the moto so it was ok
- he and Deegan have a decent relationship
- didn’t want to face backlash from Deegan fans
- he has matured (my pick)
He has/had a decent relationship with Jo Shimoda!
I'm not trying to go as far as to say Hunter's a dick, but I agree it's starting to look like a pattern when things don't break his way (or maybe it's "he's not going to brake if you're in his way").
For fairness, there was another take on the Shimoda incident at the time, that Hunter was just super commited to getting up front and he just came in too hot and Jo got the short end of the stick.
That's definitely a possibility and none of us can know for sure, but I personally agree he straight up cleaned him out.
Not trying to shit on the dude and he seems a good bloke day to day and clearly fast as fuck, but I think it's fair to say he may want to work on it.
Sorry for rambling... 😂
Stanton had already won all 6 of his big-league titles by the age Hunter is now.
The only similarity between the two is they ride Hondas.
Neither of the Lawrence’s are like Stanton.
Sexton is the most Stanton-ish.
Both Jett and Hunter seem to live by the phrase, “keep your friends close, and your enemies closer”
No way, Sexton doesn't have it mentally, where as Stanton was a rock. I can't ever remember him making stupid mistakes like Sexton.
As for Hunter, he is lucky at this point that he has had a year in a class without little brother. The young guys in the 250 class are already beating him in at least 1 moto without having anywhere near the experience Hunter has. I would be real curious to know how often he was putting in faster lap times than Jett when they were both on 250s, my guess would be about 10%. Doesn't bode well for him when he moves up, but I still like him and respect his fortitude. I hope he actually can mix it up with Jett, the series needs it.
He hasn’t finished off the podium and he’s won the second moto at every round.
No one else except Cooper has strung together two podiums.
I suspect when he moves up it will be Jett/Sexton most of the time at the front; Hunter mostly third with the odd win, and everyone else picking up the crumbs.
Well, Sexton looks like Stanton on the bike. Stanton didn’t have the natural talent/ fluidity of those around him like JMB or Lechien just as Sexton doesn’t have the fluidity of the other riders per se.
So “Yes, way”
KTM cheque book will come out for Hunter. You watch.
All great reads...
* Stanton already had his titles at Hunters age FTW.
