I would say Dungey won it when he never quite all season. Like at Red Bud when he went over the bars and was running for his bike while it was still flipping. Thats why Pourcel lost.

I mean, damn, everyone has him pegged as a "lowest step on the podium" kinda guy...

Meanwhile, he's got some pretty damn impressive results agianst the World at the MXoN.

He's TEARIN' the wheels off of the 450 in testing (Since gettin' ready for the MXoN) and moving forward with the '10 SX program.

And...of ALL the guys at the top of the sport...he's got his head right...as right as anyone: Stewart, Villo and Dungey. They've got it figured out and don't seem to have a bunch of "Issues".

Yup, that's it.

He's THE Sleeper!
He admitted it himself: "The bike broke, but I felt like I could get it back, but when I was ready to go, in the first turn, the bike stopped. I don’t know why. I don’t know if [Ryan] Dungey hit me and I stalled the bike, or what. She just stopped, and I was in front. Then I just didn’t feel like riding anymore."

Ryan is the real deal. I don't think you can consider him a "sleeper" after having the best overall season of any racer in 2009. I think he will be a consistant top 5 rider all year as he adjusts to the 450. Don't be surprised when he wins a couple of SX's.

I wouldn't call Dungy a "Sleeper". I think with all of the momentum he has coming into the new season and with his work ethic, I would call him the "Awakener".

This is going to be fun to watch! We are going to have some new faces on the podium!

He'll be up there for sure, MAYBE a few podiums but if luck goes his way we might see him on the top step. Also, I think it'll be a good battle between RV and RD for a few rounds.

Dungey will be on the podium and maybe win one this year.

Too soon for championship talk, couple more seasons.

Dungey has no better credentials than what Tedesco had when he moved up, has Tedesco ever won a SX main?

Not sure if you could call Pourcel a quitter.

Sometimes translations from 1 language to another can give an answer that has a different meaning to what was intended.

I agree.
However, I do not think we will see him pull the trigger til the 2011 season.
I have a feeling he will hold back just a tad this season and ride smart and finish all the races ,get some podiums and maybe win a race and consistently be a top 5 guy.
We have all seen a lot of great/top lites guys in SX make the jump to the big boy and not really do shit as far as championships go.However, I think Dungey will be different and raise the bar and become dominant.

Dungey was lucky to go through this season without a injury. The freestone crash, Washougal and Red Bud.

Pourcel is God on wheels, but he was beaten by Dungey, and it hurted my emotions serverly. Sure bad luck for PC, and Mitch team fucked up his bike etc (this is how I handle that). BUT that entitles Dungey as a contender in any race or series. Dungey managed to stay together the whole series while the rest couldn't.

I agree with this post, he's fast and definately has skill's. Everyone's first full time season on the big bike's, always [with out exception ] takes a little time to work out the kink's so to speak. I think 2011 will be the true measuring stick of what kind of a player he'll become. As far as this year though, I think we'll see him have some great battle's with guy's like Grant, Villipoto, and Reed. A win ? Probably not, but you never know.

Dungey is going to be good but his battle will be for 3rd-5th. He is not a title contender IMO. SX is a one pony show. If that pony goes down then Reed is the guy that will mop up the win. Alot of shit has to happen for Dungey,Grant and RV to win races.

I think Ryan can get a win or two if he is in his "zone" that we have occasionally seen him in but to stay there all year just isn't going to happen. I think he will have Reed's # most of the time and be racing with him and RV most of the season. JMHO.

Furthermore: If one more person mentions the start gate incident I'm going to smack them. Seriously, have you watched the tape in slow motion? It is painfully obvious that his front wheel smacked the gate hard enough to make it bounce back up. If he would have been a split second slower it would have been an awesome start. He wasn't and it wasn't. CP screwed up plain and simple. The engine on the other hand, completely not his fault and I felt bad for the kid.

Damn, we talk about SX here it seems. I think only of MX these days. That figureskating Mickey Mouse series run inside has no 7 and 22 written all over it. Dungey chance to win that shit equals my chance to get my hair back .

Really? so what was all this shit you speak of in Seattle last year... a bad start by Stewy? I have a feeling that whoever wins this years championship will find it harder than any other- There are a lot of fast kids on those 450's that have been off season preparing themselves. Grant and Villo aren't rookies anymore- Moving through the pack should be harder and harder as they mature and gain confidence tiss the way of the big bike learning curve-

I hope Dungey is a fast learner and can rattle off a win

All the shit in Seattle last yr was Stewart 2nd to last in the first corner and Reed crashing before he got to the first corner. You need to watch the heat race again so you can get a reality check. Stewart handed RV his ass.

RV is great but he cannot beat Stewart or Reed without a shit load of help.

If by "a shit load of help" you mean, the unpredictability of racing, then you are correct.

This says it all about Dungey.
Quite is not in his vocabulary.
Well, quite may be, but quit isn't.Wink

He will podium, maybe even win a couple, but, win the C'ship this year?

Dungey does have a pretty good wrench spinner in his corner to help out this year.

And why does it have to be that J-Law got in Dungey's head? Is it possible that he just screwed up.
