Actually, Stew was meant to have won at least three more championships. He self-sabotaged that possible legacy.
James is a natural in the booth. Some of the analysis he offers is unlike anything I've heard before. He doesn't dumb things down for the casual viewer.
Like Bailey, he succinctly describes riding techniques and strategy because he can see things from the riders' standpoint. He clearly was an analytical rider in his day, and he's now able to impart his knowledge without fear of letting the competition know his secrets.
Here's hoping he's here to stay!
I'm sure you lived up to your peak potential without ever making mistakes, but some of us are human. This is about James in the booth, not what you think he should have accomplished as a racer. Despite being "self-sabotaged" he came out of his career with his health and wealth intact. I'd say he did better than most.

I just hope those who make the call realize how much better JS is than RC in the booth, and RC can move on to other things.

James had a really spectacular round this week. Some of the things he called out or discussed were truly deep. Usually the sport is so dumbed down for the casual fan. James speaks to the core rider directly and Weege lobs him the softballs to do it.

The whole factory bike versus privateer insight was amazing. I didn’t watch the practice show but they said he called it then and said the track suited the more stock bikes being less stiff etc and it showed

This ^^^^ 100%. RC can focus on Triumph and not continually saying the same gibberish along with worrying far too much of what riders will think about him. James absolutely crushed it with his analysis and predicted a number of things that played out just as he thought. It is the first time I can remember since Bailey that I looked forward to hearing the announcers. Weege is awesome in his role too. Well done guys!
The Stew-love makes me laugh. I remember when everyone was complaining about Fro and loved RC. Now you're complaining about RC and love Stew. If the powers-that-be change it up, by the end of the first season, you'll all be sick of Stew and crying for AC or whomever you deem worthy. I don't mind Stew, I don't mind RC. Both have good insights and both say repetitious stuff. You just haven't gotten sick of Stew feeling "dangerous" yet.
James is awesome in the booth. RC has been very good also last couple season, he still holds back on telling it how it is with riders though and I don't think James does.
Well if RC had actually been penalized for cheating he’d have one more…
