I hydrate adequately before the race…and then put water in the camelback for the race…recover with a soda after the race.
Edit: I’m racing in the dry desert with no humidity…if you are racing GNCC’s you’re probably racing in humidity…and so water may not be adequate during a race? I don’t have any experience racing in humidity.
Tool kit, phone, chapstick & water 😅
I'm a big fan of Ryno Power. Half the recommended dose. Not too sweet, doesn't upset my stomach.

You can mix a cocktail of electrolytes and sugar if you want to fine tune it and save some cash. Salt, potassium chloride (labeled lite salt) lemon juice, magnesium citrate and sugar mixed together with water is the basic mix. The general composition of sweat itself is:
Salt (0.9 gram/liter)
Potassium (0.2 g/l)
Magnesium (0.0013 g/l)
You can play with the ratios, but those marks are a good upper bracket. The sugar or some simple carb is necessary for transportation into the bloodstream. If you just consume electrolytes and water you can end up with too much osmotic pressure in your digestive tract and all that water will end up in your stomach and guts.
Moonshine
Brawndo. It's got electrolytes.
Camelback used to have Hydrotabs that were awesome, flavor was solid, light effervescent but not carbonated, no sugar just electrolytes. I don’t believe they make them anymore unfortunately which is a bummer, but, Hammer Nutrition has similar tabs available. It’s nice because they don’t get sticky or grow mold that I have found but i do rinse the bladder after use.

I don’t race off-road (moto only guy) but Im an avid competitive cyclist (on & off road!) and I was a big fan of Cytomax before it went away…I tried several others and I swapped to Skratch Labs and have been really happy with it!
IF you were a fan of Cytomax, you might give Skratch labs a try-if you haven’t already!!?😎 👍❗️
Margaritas
Stoly and Redbull.....it gives me wings!
I keed, I keed!!!!
I have not but awesome thanks I'll try it! I used cytomax exclusively for years. Long road bike ride too.

Trail riding or riding sweep at an enduro? Water

Some say a little maple syrup in your water. I know a couple of super-fast riders who do that.
Engine Ice

Depending on the time on bike, no camelback, plain water, or Carbofuel. However lemon lime Carbofuel will turn your bladder highlighter yellow/green
I usually put half a packet of pedialyte in mine and fill with water. Helps quite a bit and is pretty cheap. They even make a pedialyte sport too that’s good but harder to find
Jim Beam Devil's Cut Whiskey
Water, anything else ruins the bag.
Been using LMNT and like it the best for enduros and MTB. Very salty.

This stuff is amazing, I use it for cycling and endurance moto races. it makes a noticeable difference.
They also have a "tactical" drink mix that is mostly electrolytes. Great products!
Mostly water, but sometimes use "Liquid IV" powder when they have it at Costco.
Pack of Luckys and MD20 20.
I hadn’t heard this. What happened to Cytomax?
I think Cytomax is still available online but the two bike shops I typically grab my products from stopped carrying it and it was just more convenient to swap over to products they had on the shelf…
I bet if you have a favorite you can still get it through Amazon etc! I don’t think the company has gone out of business?
It hasn't been on Amazon for about a year
I used Cytomax for years, then switched to Skratch Labs for its more natural ingredients. On really long and hot rides I get to a point that I can't get the Skratch down any longer, which isn't ideal. I discovered Superieur a couple of years ago and it has a much lighter taste and feel, the watermelon flavor is amazing: https://superieurelectrolytes.com/
