I saw and heard you a couple times on the broadcast today. (Passed a Suzuki 450 when Webb and Ferrandis lapped you guys; congratulated Jett on his win.) Good job on the 2nd moto finish! Getting close to the points!

Last 250 2T win would have to be Carmichael at Steele City in 03 right?

Last one to lead a lap … James Stewart 05 Broome Tioga?

This just really makes me miss when racing was all 2-strokes.    It's just not the same since.

The shot of the cab of the truck packed to the hilt screams "PRIVATEER".

Much respect! Keep up the great work, Matty B.

Ha, and there is a thread on here wanting us to believe, Loretta Lynn’s is only possible with a dealership worth a motorcycles and a $500,000 motorhome. But Matt is qualifying for nationals out of a pick up truck.

Thank you everyone for watching, sharing, and following along I appreciate all of you!  Hangtown was a gnarly one to say the least, I went there expecting it to be softer than Pala with the sawdust, rice hulls and all the extra added dirt but they didn't really bring that stuff in this year and it was straight up Cali hard pack!  First practice I was 28th in the A group which I didn't think was too bad, but my best lap in that session came on my second lap ever on the track so I knew we had much more in the tank.  A bunch of guys went fast in the first B group session and after first round of qualifying I was sitting on the outside looking in.  We were under the gun but ready to drop that time and get after it!  Second session ended up 25th in the A group and 28th overall after a few guys from B group went faster again.  Considering I wasn't even going to be racing a month ago, I'm pretty stoked to have qualified 2 for 2 so far on tracks I've never ridden and am not comfortable on.  Can't wait to get back east!!

1st moto was a bit of a bummer performance from me, never really found a flow on the track (stop me if you've heard this before lmao) and just couldn't get going out there.  Limped it home for a 34th and had some time to think about what exactly I was even doing out there.  It was also pretty hot out there which made things even more difficult, but we were all dealing with the same conditions so it's on me to be better!  Made a couple of small bike adjustments for the 2nd moto and we were ready to rip.  Moto 2 I managed to miss the huge start pileup luckily and actually ran 21st for a while before a little after halfway the anchor completely came out and almost grinded me to a halt.  Barely fought through to the finish and although there were alot of guys out we managed a 26th in moto 2 which is my best result yet on the 2 stroke.  Although my riding was really not very good and I struggled badly with the Cali Hard pack with being uncomfortable, at least we have a result inside the top 30 to build on.  Really did not gel or even really enjoy the Hangtown track but I still am and always will be glad I went and experienced it!  I'm sure it was a hard track for everyone but I really feel like this one was extra tough for the 2 stroke, I need some fluff to bank off of out there!! Right after the races I hit the road straight to Colorado, got a night of sleep in the front seat of my truck again and made it to Colorado about 25 hours after the 2nd 450 moto at Hangtown.

We're gonna have our work cut out for us here in Colorado this weekend.  With all the hills at Thunder Valley combined with the altitude we will definitely be hurting for power out there.  And also historically my body has had some trouble with altitude but I have been here since Sunday night and have been doing my best to acclimate.  Even though we've got a couple factors working against us this weekend, we don't give a damn and are ready to just hold it wide and see what happens!!  So so thankful to be able to embark on this journey at this point in my life, I've quit racing and came back a few times so it really sometimes does feel surreal that i'm getting to do this for another year!  Thanks again to everyone for following along, hopefully I'll see you guys at a race near you!!

No choice!

Stalked Matt in the pits, he & the crew were oddly parked, but we found him & wished him luck. His mechanic, Dave, was cool to talk to us as well while he was cleaning the bike.

Good luck on your upcoming races Matt!

Picked up a few more spots over first two rounds despite high elevation disadvantage, and other good riders flooding into big bike class this week.

Fox needs to bring back the "This is motocross." ad with you in it Matty. So stoked seeing the 2 stroke out there making passes. Good luck at Red Bud!

Matty is pretty much what this sport is all about! Doing his thing not for the money but pure love of the sport! He's showing that you don't have have latest and greatest equipment to have decent results. Pure determination gets you pretty far in this sport

I love what Matt is doing. In his High Point vlog, I'm in my buddies pit just sitting there watching them rebuild that YZ250, like 5 ft from me. It gave me a front row seat to the stuff that these privateers have to deal with. I was glad they got it going but still bummed that it apparently didn't run right in the 2nd moto. Hope he gets it sorted out for Redbud. But regardless, just spending a good portion of the day in the pits right by him, it was cool to see everyone so interested in his bike and the people coming up to him. I don't know Matt and didn't really get to talk to him. But you can just tell that he is a cool guy. Very down to earth and appreciative of his support. Easy guy to cheer for.
