Jalek Swoll off track moment

How about Jalek going off track almost getting caught in the banners and nearly avoiding the kid on the side. Some flat track action there to avoid. Hopefully he can put it together next weekend

How were the kids walking that close to the track? I didnt see a fence that typically runs along the track keeping fans away.

I agree, the kids could have easily ran onto the track in the one spot

That was the infield, the mechanics area to be specific. No way for general spectators to be in there.

I've had all-access passes for Hangtown and the one place it won't get you into is where they were walking. That's supposed to be mechanics, team managers, officials, track workers.

Was very odd they were walking where they were, alongside the race track going the same direction. When I was a kid and I’d go to races with my dad, if we had to walk with the traffic like that, we were as far away from the track as we could be, and I certainly wouldn’t have been the one closer to the track. He was. And he was constantly looking behind him and checking, because we knew that could easily happen. Thankful Swoll didn’t come over that jump about 3 seconds sooner and took the kid out.

No shade on DC or Hangtown, I'm all for people taking responsibility for their own actions and less nanny state BS, but sometimes you get a reminder just how stupid the average person can be. Beyond shitty parenting.

Could have been really terrible for Jalek (who would absolutely NOT be at fault) and obviously for little Johnny, but the sport, public perception, insurance, legal and all that noise as well.

Think of Simon Mitchell, the photographer who passed after an incident with an off-track bike last month at Foxhill, tragic in its own right of course, but with a random small child in his place it would ramp things up.

Child Labor is a pretty strong accusation.

There were obviously multiple children walking directly trackside on a live track and people are in here stating that's a mechanics only area, or saying they should be walking against traffic. That could've been tragic, or a potential injury just for Jalek trying to avoid them. Not sure why individuals are in here stating thats a mechanics only area, unless there are children mechanics...

If it was Anderson that went off the track the kid's funerals would be this Wednesday.

JA goes off track and it's WFO time.   LaughingLaughingLaughingLaughingLaughing

So nobody has an answer of why there was a kid on the track Beyond the fences I'm sure DC's insurance is going to love that picture!

I stood in that exact spot during the first 450 moto and guys were starting to jump closer and closer to the riders left edge of the track and quickly changed where I stood.

Everyone who walked that was backwards to the track.

It was the path you had to walk to get to the mechanics area. Instead of crossing the track you took the tunnel under the tabletop (usually the finish line for amateur races) that was before the wall jump right before the mechanics area.

The gap between the yellow Acerbis barriers and 3 sections of fence was where riders pulled off the track and into the mechanics area.

So they're letting children into the mechanics area now?

Probably not lawyers.  As far as I know, there was no damages, so nothing to sue about.

The insurance company/promoter will probably work to tighten things up in future rounds to try to avoid incidents in the future.

There is ALWAYS something to sue about.

Child endangerment is just one of many litigation toys to play with.

Sure, somebody *could* sue any time they want.  But who would sue in this case?  The parents of the kid who almost got hit?  I can't imagine any jury would award a settlement, because there were no damages.  So why would anybody want to spend money on a lawyer?
