No way he goes out like that. He'll be back imo.

The only thing worse than him not racing again is for him to come back and get 3rd and then retire.

I would think he would race here and there maybe not sx or nationals but just a local race here or there, cannot imagine him not getting on a bike again.

I think he will come back and race. No one wants to go out like that, let alone a legend. He will want to thank the fans and such

That’s what I think, too. I imagine he’s not doing a full season again but I think we’ll see him line up at some point.

Of course, I have no way of knowing what he thinks but I think it would be very easy for him to retire knowing he was leading his last race and basically had the title wrapped up. Not a bad way to go out.

Easier to deal with (when you are at his level) than to come back and have a hard time breaking the top three...which could be his reality next year. At some point, he would never win again. It happens to everyone. He often talked about quitting at 30.

Eli won't care one bit about a farewell tour IMO.

Eh, disagree. I think it would still be impressive for a 31 year old to come back from a potentially career-ending injury and be a podium guy.

To go from sweeping an entire year of racing, and then starting to do it again, then to get 3-5 place is going to be miserable for the guy.

I sure hope that he does. He has nothing left to prove to anyone, truly one of the greatest to ever do it. Would love to see him at outdoors specifically in 2024.

I hope he does SX again next year, but I don't know that he will...  At this point?  I'd say it's a coin toss.

I think he goes hunting and fishing and shows up somewhere, sometime, but not to race.

He was demonstrating the best riding of his career. He’ll be tempted to retire with the financial stability and his family, but I have a feeling he’ll ultimately feel he’s left something on the table.

Look at Dungy, one of the best riders in his  prime, but cant podium now after 5 year layoff. Eli will probably return, but not for long if he isnt successful immediately.

Personally I think he's going to watch how Jett stacks up to Chase.  He knows what he's up against with Chase.  If Jett is sweeping motos by 30 seconds by the end of the season I'm guessing Eli's Elk hunting career goes into full swing.  That's how I'd play it anyway.
