Morbidelli suddenly looks like a guy who said ' i am not sticking my neck out till you fix the bike' , and they finally have, at least for him

Morbo looked strong till the last few laps. He was out braking everyone. Go figure he figures the bike out and Fabio struggles. Lol

Binder had a good rider from 15th to the front. Going to be interesting to see how his tyres hold out for the longer race today. Maybe KTM has fixed their past issues.

Fabio has issues with 2 bikes now. The Yamaha he's riding and the heat seeking Hondas. His results would probably be better if someone wasn't T boning him every other race.

The Honda front end really seems to be causing problems. Marquez, Mir and now Nakagami have all lost control and rammed other riders in the braking zone/early corner

The past couple years the KTMs have been very strong as the race goes on. Its qualifying and starts that have been their achilles heel

Good wet race. Bez was in a league of his own. With Pecco going down the ship got opened back up. Wish we could have seen what Fabio could have done if he wasn't punted in the opening lap.

Austin is next! I hope the COTA surface isn't blown apart from the partial resurfacing last year. Having 40 nascars cruise around couldn't have been good lol.

I think once Pecco lobbed it he thought he was locked on for a podium, but he didnt figure Zarco would mug him.

I dont blame him backing off and taking a safe finish, he needed a result more than anyone on the grid.

He could just have run out of tyre.

So Marquez appealed his penalty and had it rescinded? What bullshit.

I don't watch a lot of MotoGP, but are there always that many crashes, or was it the COTA track surface that racers have complained about?

To follow up on my own post, I read an article that didn't 100% blame the track, but at this point it has 4 different types of asphalt and no real surface consistency, including bumps, scraped areas to deal with the bumps, etc., etc...  Oh, and the weather was colder on Sunday, so the tires weren't performing the same way that had in the days prior.

The Moto3 and Moto2 race were awesome. In the Moto3 race the winner made a mistake on the first lap and went back to 23rd. Eventually getting the win in a last lap battle at the line. It was his first win, couldn’t even pop the champagne he was so young. The moto2 race was good too. Pretty much showed you who’s the future of MotoGP. I thought the MotoGP was good too. Rin’s pressure on Bagnaia caused that mistake no doubt. Awesome ride by Rin’s! I really want to go next year….. Yes the track has bumps but it’s the same for everyone. .

Wasnt there just... the crash for Marini and Alex Marquez, so reminiscent of the Simoncelli crash.

And they were both lucky that nobody clipped them.

Bagnaia and Espargaro was a 50/50 deal for me, and them too once they put their handbags down.

I have been to that race , and let me tell to that the french crowd is unbelievable , the campsite is like a war zone, and nobody gives a shit.

I swear , how either one of those didn’t end bad.

and, looking forward to lemans next month. The single safety car change is going to breed crashes like never been seen. I never liked the 3 car system either cause u could be 20 seconds down and now u r a minute twenty. With the one car u can save ur stuff as long as u don’t get lapped then race hard at the end, theoretically. I’d rather see a code 60 deal like Nurburgring uses if you’ve ever watch a race there on the green hell.

and this nascar they are taking over , isn’t even close to a cup car. It would get smoked, it’s been changed so much mite as well thrown the body on a gt3 chassis

It was Pecco and Vinales but yeah I'd say pretty 50/50 on that. Pecco will come into form on the second half like always.

Points are a joke at this point. If you can pull together a strong last few races and "Sprints" you can win the ship.

It was cool to see a ton of fans at a race, you don't see that much anymore. Do you go to sachs?

But a cup car has changed a ton regardless of the lemans car no?

They are wider, single lug wheels, etc.

For Nascar they place a ton of restrictions via areo, power output, and the way it's built in general is for "safety" and ease of service. Remove all the restrictions and let them build a true racecar and this is what we are getting. I love it.

I am excited as an American fan to have at least some push to go racing, regardless. I'll be watching because of it.

Hopefully i will be free Le Mans weekend so i can go all in for the whole race, but its too soon to say just now.

A guy i race with is part of Ford's R&D team and he drives the Nurburgring a lot, and i have an open invitation to go if i can make it fit in, been there a few times , but never when there was a race on.

And yes, single safety car is going to be a nightmare, they should have the limiter thing as you said, far safer IMO.

Nothing beats Sportscar racing.

Nex gen car is what it’s called. Composite body instead of hand made , independent rear suspension instead of 9” ford style a 5 or 6 speed trans shifted up down on trans tunnel , rack steering instead of drag link and Ackerman. It’s like a gt 3/4 car with 550hp instead of 800 to 900 they had. And single wheel nut instead of 5 which is more dangerous. They have shed a bunch of wheels from not tight lucky to not got one in crowd

it got rid of hundreds of craftsmen in shop and parts come from single source. It’s still a 1950s push rod v8 with all kinds of tricks to make it live.
the car was/is to rigid and hurt a bunch of guys

the lemans cup car has more downforce, lighter, A post laid down, fuel cell mid car , and a clutch that will let them pull out pit without spinning which u can’t do at lemans.

It is, the gtworld YouTube channel has dozens on each weekend. This past I watch gt3/4 from Asia,Australia, brands hatch , then imsa and Mazda cup

Rossi got 2nd at brands, first podium , the crowd he has brought is crazy.

the gt open series and 24hr series have YouTube channel to

Well, Chevy is really only one still building push rod v8 , Toyota never made one in production vehicle and ford been ohc with most stuff,  it’s just the way they’ve done it beening nascar, 1960 tech till this new car last year. Simple and known technology.

before they started taking horsepower they turned 10k rpm with 6 scavenging oil pump stages to pull vacuum under piston and the valve covers are wet sump where the valve springs are covered by oil to keep cool.
all heads and blocks are about same , valve angle and port size

they got crazy trick for a while at restrict or plate races with compression ratios like a deisel and leaking air thru carb studs that they would fill with wax that melts out , cross braces over the engine being nitrous tanks spraying into the cowl.

nowadays it’s very very hard to cheat

Yeah that was a crash fest with some scary ones for sure.

 Glad nobody got hurt.

I always want to go to the 24 hour of Lemans but if The camping is anything like LOT 4 at redbud during the moto D then I want no part of that shitshow!

People are freaking insane and have no regard for humanity.

Wow want a crash fest for Marquez last week in Germany on the track he DOMINATED for years.

Can't believe how far the mighty have fallen! 😳

Wonder where he will be next year?

I believe he still has another year on the Honda if he survives.  I can't believe how determined that dude is after that bike spit him off 5 times!  Turns out losing pedrosa as a test rider has been a huge mistake for Honda and look what he has done for KTM.

Freaking Dani Lil samurai Pedrosa showing most of these guys how to do it knocking on a podium. It honestly shows how talented guys like him, Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo and even Hayden were.

They Definitely earned the title of the alien's during their careers. Also with seeing how much yamaha has struggled it shows that Rossi was correct in 2019 to say that the M1 is no longer competitive that he had to over ride it so much just to get where he was. It's the same story for Marquez right now.

Fun Fact: Dani is now only 3 points behind Marquez in the standings.

By the sounds of Marc's comments, the 2024 bike isn't an improvement either.

Their wildcard rider was DQ's this weekend because his lap time was more than 105% of the fastest. That's a BAD bike

Definitely an impressive ride by Dani on the KTM but I love watching Binder ride it.

Also was very cool to see two Aprilias on the box last week.

Miller sure seems to be struggling on the KTM. I was rooting for Dani yesterday to get a podium. That would have been cool.

I have the season pass but they have screwed up the app so much I am now watching the NBC coverage. Why did they change the app in mid season and remove the no spoilers option? You cannot go into the app on race day and not see who won before finding the race to watch.

Yeah Miller’s drop off was somewhat surprising. I mean Binder is riding so well right now and his bike looks pretty darn good.

Yeah the app change during the season is ridiculous. I believe they fixed the no-spoiler setting. But yeah, ruined a couple race weekends for me.
