Had a blast today putting a couple hours on the bike at my local track. To me, this 250 two stroke is the ultimate bike for a vet guy like myself. Fun factor is there and power wise is much more controllable down low. Love the low end grunt of this bike. Feels even more responsive than my RMZ.

I’ve heard people say a two stroke will wear you out quicker cause you have to work harder on it to go fast. Certainly not what I’m experiencing. Hopping from my YZ back to the 450 made me realize how heavy they are. I put in a 20 min moto on the YZ when normally I can only go about 12 min on the RMZ before I’m in danger of whiskey throttle lol.
Splurged on some Mako 360 mounts this week as well and they certainly brought some comfort. I had to find an immediate fix for the non rubber bar mount situation.
Why didn’t I have a YZ 250 years ago?? Lol

I still cry about selling my rg3 rubber mounted clamp. I noticed a little harshness in bars and grips last time I was out casing most of the jumps at nhnx. Lol glad you're loving the bike

Agree with you. I can ride my YZ250 almost indefinitely, very aggressively. Big bore four strokes are what rip your arms off. I'm not sure how guys say otherwise unless they stay off the gas and dont stand up lol

Any gains out there to be made with aftermarket engine mounts? I'm thinking WCL or FCP. Mind you, I'm coming off of an RMZ 450 where aftermarket engine hangers made a HUGE improvement. By default, I'm curious if this is an area where improvement can be made lol

What are you trying to accomplish with them?

Cornering improvement, less vibration, better flex, etc…..Not sure if there’s any gains to be had, just wanting to know if anybody had experience with them.

For that I’ll just point you back to th 22mm clamps honestly. No experience with the mounts though.

What is the stock fork spring rate on the 22/23 model? Race tech says .47 but my research says .44

For my weight and riding ability, Race tech's calculator puts me at .48 up front and 5.8 in back. I already installed the 5.8 spring in back and kept the front stock and rode that setup this past weekend. Bike feels a bit unbalanced....rear feels good but a little bit stinkbug in front and too soft.

Wasn't sure if I needed .48 or .50 up front (I'm keeping stock valving for now).

Front fork spring YZ250 2023 it is 0.44…..race tech is wrong……I was having the same issue.

I m using now 0.50 springs….for me RT recommends 0.47-0,48…..bike feels much better than with OEM springs (210 pounds naked, I like firmer feel suspensions)…..but I m not using the last inch of travel even after a huge flat landed jump (by mistake)…..I will try 0.48 springs soon.

Good luck!!

I'm the same weight. Good to know. I think I would prefer a stiffer spring as well and have the ability to open up clickers to get slightly softer. What skill level are you and are you strictly moto?

Only moto, vet rider, 45 years old……….able to clear all jumps at my tracks (in my good days), corner speed is not my strong point.

Congrats on the YZ.

I'd love to buy a new YZ 250 as a play bike.   Unfortunately, where I live in nazi California, I'm limited to closed courses and that isn't my thing anymore.

764B097A-0DF2-4BE8-A8DB-1B16261A7450.jpeg?VersionId=jGot a chance to ride with my APEX cylinder head this weekend. Bought the MX dome only for this one as I only ride MX. Got it spec’d to run 91 if needed but I run 50/50 mix with motul 800 at 40:1.  Previously I had added a fmf factory fatty and shorty and vforce 3 reeds.. prior to the head I would get a great initial hit but it would sign off so fast it would mess up my jump timing on certain jumps. I tried out a standard powercore 2 and that helped but not enough.

I put in APEX reccomended jetting which is leaner than stock. I was ok with it since I am running 50/50.

have to say it was best bang for the buck mod i could think of aside from going full porting. The bike runs cleaner on the bottom end and has More mod and way more over rev. Less effort and clutch work out of tight corners to get it moving. Could basically carry 3rd almost every where and not have to click to 2nd.  I reccomend it or even Getting the squish fixed on a stocker.. but getting a more custom spec is awesome from apex.

One of the best bike of the MX history and the best ROI bike in my opinion.
