top pros that do NOT use or have elected to not use this scooter gadget? Do these things really help yer 1st turn position?

Of course they help, it’s physics.
but because every rider now has one… pointless. Could just as well ban them now & nothing changes.
So nobody decided they didn't need one?
If you ever watch drag racing, all the race cars have wheelie bars now - if they didn't they would all be on their lids off the start.
4 strokes have so much torque that the bike will wheelie even if you have your nuts in front of the gas cap going over the gate.
I actually think that the rear wheel holeshot device was better at helping to keep the front end down, but they were too complicated and didn't always release.
Since I usually ride an old guy class on a 250F and most others are on 450’s, I decided to try one. Was absolutely stunned at the difference!!! Was awesome to beat 450’s to the first corners finally. Less roost = more fun. I’m also short so that was a bonus.

No. Yes.
Why would anyone stop using them? They would be a massive disadvantage
I wish they would ban them.
I wouldn’t say nothing changes. Some guys would really have to work on technique as they’ve probably never actually started without one on a big bike and that takes a bit of practice.
Yup. Get rid of all the skill killers.
The start grates, the start blocks, traction control, quick shift, rpm lights and holeshot devices.
If they ban them, suspension companies will build them inside the forks.
Not if “Launch assist devices are not permitted”
Tbf yes you’re right.
the cream will rise to the top even more so. Using one does mean less skill is required.
Thread you’ve created using a complete sentence?
Moto GP Ducati bikes used a button to lower the rear suspension for starting and also coming onto long straits. Every other manufacturer had to follow to keep up.
last race KTM reverted from a hydraulic to cable clutch and went like bullets off the line.
These ideas filter to mx but not all work great for dirt.
I agree it’s time to ban holeshot devises for pro racing and let the skill take over.
Do folks use these at their local races? (Besides maybe local pro).
I’d feel a little cheesy setting a holeshot device in the +40 class.
Even worse is that if it were me, I’d probably still get to the first turn 8-10 bike lengths behind every other bike…….
On a 30 yard start straight!
It's probably about 50/50 with vet riders out here. I think it's cheesy as hell, but I'm in the minority with my outlook on them. I've never ran one and I get asked a couple times a season why I don't have one. I usually give a smart ass answer like "I don't need trinkets."
Holeshots, mid pack, back of the pack. My starts are all over and I never have once thought "if only I had a holeshot device."
Pit Row
They won’t ban them now since everyone has one and they won’t ban them because of the backlash from the companies selling them would lose out on easy money. Less sales = less sponsor dollars to the series.
I read somewhere that RC never used one. Not sure how true that is.
I don't know where you read that but that's false.
I have a hole-shot device and hole-shot link on my bike that I’d started using back when JR put them on my bike as a “crash test dummy” for the #4 KTM…
They both work. As in…they REALLY work.
I think the kids in 250C at a local race probably have the most to gain with a holeshot device. You don’t want to be in the middle or back of the 40 rider pack that first lap; that’s where all the carnage is.
There is only like 4 or 5 guys normally in the A class and they do 6 laps (vs 4 for C class) so I think a start is probably slightly less important.
This ^
Let the mechanic and or rider prep beyond the gate and ban the holeshot device.
