All 3 of those teams have outside sponsors that pay big money to see those teams lineup. I'm not saying he will contend for a championship but he is a top ten rider and a name. Plus he will be looking for a ride full time next year. The wsx series is great for quick money but let's be honest. It was a joke last year after the top couple of guys and I my opinion will not be around for long. Hope it works out for Colt but he would be better off showcasing what he can do both indoors and out for 2024.

More disparagement for a series that gives riders and mechanics a good financial opportunity and for the sport to reach a wider audience.

A rising tide lifts all boats. Last year's 2 round WSX pilot attracted 85,000 spectators and three of the highest profile riders in the sport; Roczen, Reed and Tomac. That is not a joke, that is solid.

It's quiet at the moment but the rumblings about the grind of AMA outdoors as a good WSX recruiter have not gone away.

I'm a fan of Colt, but the nationals have never been his strong suit. He's got two podiums under his belt (3rd x2) back in 2017 and 2019.

His average finishing position outdoors is 11.44.

In saying that, the 450 class will be depleted this year.

How?

With some of the guys from last year not returning (Dungey, Cairoli, Alex Martin, Bogle), Musquin on an SX-only contract, guys racing WSX (Wilson, McElrath, Savatgy, Roczen?), guys on the injured list (Craig, Stewart, Webb, Hartranft, Anderson?), and guys going back down to race the 250 class (Marchbanks, Weltin?), there is an opportunity for just about anybody to have their best outdoor season ever.

Besides that, I believe he's racing WSX.

I see your point, but I see it differently. Colt is 29 years old and a great Supercross rider. IMO, there is nothing wrong with making money being SX only. It worked out well for Brayton. Now Anstie is signing up for that program, and the same with Wilson. Podiums/championships will pay more than riding/breaking into the top 10 in MX.

Race AMA SX, and WSX, go down under, race the AUS SX series, and repeat the process for the next few years. I also don't think the WSX series will be around for many years, but if they're willing to pay to have him there, I say milk it for as long as it lasts.

Honestly, he'd probably make more money doing that sort of program than racing outdoors trying to get on a factory team.

I'd say it's a different story if he was 23, but he's not.

I'm not saying that's what he needs to do. I'm just saying it's a valid option.

This. Straight into a chapel at 12 years old on a bicycle. I took my wheel in a manhole without a helmet. Concussion for a few minutes and 18 stitches in the lips. I deal with it since that crash. 5 concussions in my entire life. I will age bad imo.  I just think for a Warrior, he looks a bit like a quitter on this but you beautiful people are probably right.

Yeah, I love SX but feel like we could lose a few rounds of SX and it wouldn’t change a whole lot, except for less injuries and fresher riders for Outdoors.
Can’t believe they agreed to drop a National to incorporate superdoopermotocross. Dropping a couple of super crosses would be a far better option in my opinion, but profits likely drove that decision……

I don't get it, why he sit out for the first half of the outdoors ? Sounds like a long break for "just" a concussion. May be he knows he is gonna be smoked bad. Less embarrassing to sit out for a concussion than be smoked and ride between 5 and 10 waiting for a fresh start on probably the blue bike. I m harsh ?

Seems like you've not had a concussion before or know anything about Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).

He had a concussion late in the SX season last year but came back immediately and wasn't the same. Depending on the severity of the concussion he could be weeks away from being able to work out hard (even off the bike) without puking. Different people react differently to concussions too. Some guys wouldn't have gotten one from that crash and could have finished the heat. Some guys could be out months. I will say the increased awareness of concussions and forcing rest immediately after seems to have eliminated guys being out months. You see the same thing in football and hockey.

Anderson has hit the ground bad a few times this year (Last year as well at Detroit) and he didn't take a break for so long. Stop it pls. Even Webb said in his video uptade that he can't ride for only a week according to doctor. so why sit ou the first half of the outdoors ? I m just wondering why. Legit question imo.

I have my theory, I think Webb is mentally toast. That sport asking too much at this point of his life. I'll not be surprised if he retire. He seems tired of the sport and I can understand when you are so off in term of speed. Yup, I pretty sure he is very close to be done. Another thing that I m pretty sure, he'll never win a championship again.

He said he is coming back for the second half of the nationals and the SMX rounds. In what world does that add to the likelihood of him joining a WSX team?

His recovery timeline and the utter pointlessness of riding half a low value outdoor season when he's already qualified for SMX.

So you're going with wishful thinking over taking the man at his word? He would have to drop Red Bull KTM to sign with Rick Ware or MDK or something and use their equipment to race SMX. That is assuming one of those WSX teams would support an SMX effort where they are not subsidized by Mubadala Capital.

It's not a 'break' it is recovery from injury.

The time taken for the recovery will depend on the severity of the brain injury, and the neurologist determines that and advises the patient.

Multiple concussions are now  strongly linked to degenerative brain disorders later in life.

Expect to see concussion protocols expanded in future.

Webb strikes me as an arch pragmatist. He sat out outdoors last year.

Forgoing it again to be well paid for a lot less work and have star billing, perhaps with the chance to dethrone Kenye, doesn't seem far fetched.

Sponsor conflicts get sorted all the time.

Isn't his contract up at KTM after the SX season is over (I read on here he is not contracted to ride MX) ??

Who said anything about sponsor conflicts? Red Bull KTM is not a WSX team and doesn't support the WSX. If Webb wants to race WSX he is going to have to commit to one of the ten existing WSX teams from July to November.

But they better get on the phone right now , because outdoors is right around the corner!

Dang it Mav I didn't realize how depleted the 450 class is going to be this summer-could be the thinnest in quite some time. Dylan Wright should take a chew on this series! I think he could level up and be a consistent top 5 guy with this much top tier talent absent from the field.

Yeah, until some of the guys come back it's looking a little thin.

The plan is to race some US Nationals, so we'll see. Personally, I think he'd do well even if the entire field was healthy.

He's in a good spot.

I still think he should venture out of Canada, but I know it's not as easy as it seems when he's making good money.

Could his benefits of racing some outdoors be it might move him up the list in playoffs?
