The Bullet appears to have recovered his form

Just watched Trentino moto 2's on CBS Sports.

In MXGP, 84 went through the leaders without much of a fight. I realize that 243 isn't there, but he lost Seewar, then went around Fernandez, Febvre, Renaux and Prado very easily, and pulled ahead of them.

Trentino is hard pack, which is not Herlings favorite.

I kind of thought that 959 and 91 might be ready to challenge 84 this year. 61 is always the king of the holeshot, and it is good to see him  stay near the front, but today's moto 2 shows that the Bullet remains the FMFOTP.

You think?  Crappy 1st moto means he got further behind in championship.

He'll win the 2023 title going away. It's a long season, and as long as he stays healthy, he is just too fast to beat.

Seeing as now he passed over 20 people and took 7 seconds out of his gap to the leader while coming through traffic I’d say so.

Agreed, Herlings is the fastest man in MXGP. But similar to the fastest guy in SX, Sexton, his history shows he can’t consistently keep it on 2 wheels. Fingers crossed Herlings stays healthy!

Is he taking a page out of Stefan’s and TC222’s book by gaining momentum as the season plays out?

Must be nice to be a Herlings fan where you have two almost disastrous motos, then one good one, then go on about how gnarly he is. He lost a bunch of points to his two young championship rivals this weekend, who are both getting better in their own rights.

BUT big picture he lost more ground to his rivals.  If he can keep it up I will be glad as think when he is ‘on’ nobody can touch him, and yes put me down as a fan.

The table will turn soon! When the starts are on point,he will strike back.By the way,Prado is solid at the moment, hope he can stay this consistent, the starts are the key of his results.

Herlings keeps losing points in the new format of getting qualifying points. Prado has won 3 of them I think to add 30 points to his total.

He was kind of dead last after Febvre fell right under his front wheel in the first turn...

Wouldn't call that a crappy moto.

He just checked the results and formed an opinion.

Watched the race and agree!! Think the crash in first moto lit a fire back in him as he was flat out hauling the mail in second moto and blew by Prado and reneau like they were tied to a post!!

Too much to do this AM, so didn't get a chance to watch Portugal, but I see that Herlings went 3-1 to get yet another win, tying SE as the all-time win leader, at least until next week.

What went down in moto 1, the Bullet?

Be cool see him over here for a season. To watch him qualify on a mostly smooth track in morning would be worth ticket price

Yamaha 450s look not great in MX. Herlings fast but he is getting older, it shows. Also have to be honest, The MXGP level is lower than the American level right now. The new domination of the euros is already over. 100% sure that Sexton is faster or at the same speed at least with 30% less effort and risk than Herlings.

Not sure I agree with your thoughts on the two series.

3, 23, 21, 2 and 9 are the five fastest US MX'ers (I leave 51 slightly behind).

84, 243, 959, 3, 61, Seewar and Fernandez are the world's fastest.

Is Chase the fastest guy in the world right now? Possibly, but I wouldn't count on it.

Yes I thing Chase is the fmotp right now. Not just fast but fast dominant. I also think Chase is not already has his peak so this is scary for others riders. I think a starting gate with Anderson, Plessinger, Barcia, Roczen, Ferrandis, Sexton, Tomac and  Jett even Hunter behind is just a stronger gate than  Febvre, Fernandez, Seewer, Renaux, Coldenoff, Gasjer and Herlings.  Renaux is a Rookie, he struggle bad. Febvre, never been a fan, 1 bit overrated and a crasher. Fernandez lol come on, he needs to prove more to be in that list. Seewer, Coldenoff, good but not amazing either. Even Versace could beat those two imo. Gasjer has nothing in term of raw speed for Tomac and Sexton but he has something on a whole championship. Gasjer will probably never give the name of Charlotte to his daughter as Herlings. Prado, crash prone with already a lot of close calls but the better hope for euros right now. Herlings I don't thing he will age well with so much big crashes but crazy how big crashes doesn't affect him mentally more. Very impressive. I also think kick start Kenny could cover every euros except Herlings. Ditto for Anderson.
