Can't blame him for protecting himself against people sharing private information and possibly putting his life in danger.
For the record:
I'm no big fan of Musk
I'm not on ANY social media (message boards don't count). Social media is a mental disorder breeding ground.
He went on to ban the personal account of the person as well. This all came after he claimed to promise not to ever ban it to keep his commitment to free speech.
Yeah, of course it's his right. Just like it's my right to voice my point of view. I'm 100% behind Musk. I'm not calling for anybody to be censored. I'm a journalist- I hate censorship.
(The First Amendment doesn't apply to a corporate-owned social media platform. It prevents gov't from censoring speech, which is exactly what the intelligence agencies did regarding Hunter Biden's laptop on social media. In fact, they outright lied, and apparently was done to interfere with the election. This is very serious, but nothing will happen.).
8 pages later and we’re talking about Hunter Biden’s laptop. What the fuck are we even doing here? This is why I couldn’t care less for Ping, his political bullshit brings these nut jobs out while I’m just looking for moto content on the moto-related section of a moto forum.
Take this shit over to his forum, The Whinery.

Yeah.... I don't agree with him banning the personal account (unless there was more to the story).
I trust Musk about as far as I could throw him.
I think Moto Nomad's point is that alot of the grief in this thread is with individials who claim they're upset that Ping, a public figure, is expressing his political opinions in a public way. But when another moto public figure (Matthes) expresses his political opinion in a public way, it doesn't create the same outrage among these same individuals. So one take-away from this is that these individuals aren't outraged that a political opinion has been shared publicly, but are rather outraged from the political opinion itself. AKA triggered.
If someone posts content that you disagree, so you stop reading their content, while someone else whose view points you align with, you continue reading. Is that being triggered, or just focusing on content you connect with?
It's WAY more nuanced than that man. I'm conservative and think Ping has turned into a narcissistic nutjob, and even though I probably disagree with Matthes on most subjects, he doesn't come across like Ping at all. At least not to me.
People WANT to bring those things into the conversation, and that's fine, just don't get offended when you offend people and they call you out. It's the epitome of hypocrisy to me. The inability to see that by people on both sides is one of the main problems.
“If someone is so offended by Ping/Matthes comments, why are they reading them?”
Isn’t that what most people are saying they did? This thread being made obviously stirred up some discussion but it seems the majority claim they just quit consuming his content. But then these people get accused of trying to cancel Ping which is just laughable.
Exactly, I don't think anyone said he needs to be "canceled."
I think Ping was a great content creator, his bike builds and Ask Ping stuff was great, but somewhere along the way he determined it was his duty to educate everyone on other things. Right or wrong, I didn't watch David Pingree content to be educated/lectured/informed. Is that his right? Of course. Is that his duty? In my opinion no, so I stopped.
Doesn't mean I think he should take it down or stop, but he does need to just own the fact he's alienated even his past fans who maybe even AGREE with some of his points. If I want to dig into politics or similar, I know where to go. I don't, which is why it's frustrating a good moto dude decided to take it upon himself to intermingle those things.
Perfectly said.
I don't think Ping is wrong here... If I loaned someone a bike and he didn't say thanks, not to mention the efforts to get it to look the way it did.. I'd be irked too. If accurate Ken's taking advantage of someone kindness. That's just not very nice.
His political bullshit? Everyone's political bullshit brings out the nutjobs. Doesn't matter who it is, what side their on, etc. It's always a mess
I agree.
As far as not consuming content that you do not agree with. I think doing that limits your ability to learn. Nobody is ever correct 100% of the time. I don't agree with anybody 100% of the time, but listening to their side of things and trying to see why they feel a certain way is a great way of learning. I personally like to read/watch/listen to things I both agree with and disagree with. Limiting yourself to similar opinions is like riding with other people that are your speed instead of riding with faster and slower riders. If you are never exposed to different ideas, or views you are making it harder on yourself to grow as a person and learn. Even if you believe that a clock is broken, a broken clock is still right 2 times a day. Totally shutting out ideas and beliefs you are not aligned with is dividing the country and world.
Definitely don't come here for that shit you got that right
Snappy mustache...that's all I have.
Pit Row
Twitter’s existing terms of service outlawed accounts like this. Elon only followed those rules after his vehicle was attacked when he landed from a flight. They came to an agreement it could be reinstated if the location was delayed a certain amount of hours.
The last I knew, both accounts were active again.
Proof right there.... always two sides to the story.
No the elonsjet original account is still banned. He had to start a new one that followed the new Twitter guidelines. It was never reinstated so what you're saying is false. Neither account that was banned is still active.
The last thing you joke about with a German is being a Nazi.
Americans can be so stupid when it comes to that topic.
Some of you need to turn off fox news.
Some?
I don't have much contact with any of these pros, but I will share one story about Ken Roczen. In 2019 I entered the Washougal amateur day and got 2nd in my class. My trophy was a necklace-stye plaque which I wore for the day, and an oversized Motosport check for $150, which I carried with me as I walked through the pro pits. When I asked to get a picture with him, he was quite willing and interested in my results and asked how my motos went. No other factory pros did that. It was like talking to a normal, down to earth guy who just so happened to be amazingly talented and successful in the sport we love.
I never understood folks in the public eye (Ping, Matthes, Holywood stars, singers, et al) choosing to get political in public. Just from a pure pragmatic standpoint it seems dumb to alienate half your potential audience.
I like Ping, but I only watch his YouTube stuff, so never seen any of the other comments he's made. Vital is the only exception I make for any form of social media (not sure Strava counts).
Some view it as “it’s my responsibility to spread ____ message since I’m in a position where I have a large audience” Some are trolls, and then some view social politics/issues as like a hobby in the same way as sports fandom. I know it can be more nuanced, but that’s why I think people choose to speak out on things in public.
Half his audience? I don’t know any moto dudes or firefighters that are liberals, and I have several buddies that are firefighters and grew up racing moto since age 5. Half lol
