* Webb was faster in the Atlanta speedway whoops

* ATL Speedway was a high speed course with minimal passing (fewer turns with most being flat?)

* Webb is the absolute master of race craft in SX

* Tomac can uncork speed that no others can match WHEN he feels comfortable

The last few races in the SX series should be very good with KR, Ando, Barcia, Sexton, Webb and Tomac all healthy and willing to battle.

Reality is that how tomac rode today is why he’s a 2 time sx champ instead of a 5 time sx champ

Really is that how Tomac rode today is why he is 2 time SX champ instead of zero.

It can go both ways. If he gets past Webb he now has 8 points on him and 18 on Sexton. Every point counts, we will see how it plays out.

Webb sure didn’t sound happy with his performance on the podium.  I think he knows that he squandered a rare opportunity to make up a ton of points and grab the red plate.  Had Webb finished on the podium last night, this would be a whole different conversation.

Funny, from the start of the year I found it annoying that RC would nut hug Webb any chance he got.

I guess I saw a different race and none of it looked good for Webb.  Everyone knows that Webb lets the race come to him.  But yesterday, the pace just wasn't there to stay in tow with the front 3.  If Barcia would have Bam Bamed with KR, you would be talking about Webb getting 2nd... again.  But that isn't what happened.  His early pace wasn't up to the task to keep him in tow and he totally exposed himself and his race strategy to Tomac.   Of course Tomac knows his strategy but Tomac left knowing his pace and how much he holds back and how much he has left for his late race burst and when he executes it.   Webb always runs the same strategy only this time it didn't keep him in tow to collect 1st 2nd or 3rd.  Yet he still ran the strategy right in front of Tomac.  It was as if Tomac was collecting data like a Chinese spy balloon.  To me Webb proved he couldn't run an elevated pace for a whole race and he showed Tomac, when he runs it, where he runs it and how much it is.  This has happened behind Tomac many times but this is the first time this has happened with Tomac in tow and a front row seat to gauge exactly what he does.

Tomac/Webb just let Chase back in this thing. Chase could win out and take the title.

Eli is having a Bradshaw-like year. Strange.

To be fair Anderson really dropped the anchor right when webb was behind him and really held him up for way too long, I was yelling for him to get by but he got held up too much lost the front 3 and basically from then on his focus shifted from run down the front guys to hold off tomac. Glad he got that done at least. Idk why but just seemed like sexton and Rocky were so much quicker and cleaner when they were jumping through the whoops compared to Webb, idk if that would have changed if he caught their lines or not. Good race and great season so far though should be exciting to the end.

I honestly believe Eli was playing with him

Really? Then why didnt he pass him?

In such a close title fight, if Tomac could have taken another point away from his nearest opponent, he 100% would have done- he wouldn't 'play' with him for the fun of it and lose a point, no way! Maybe if he was 20 points ahead, but not fewer than 10.

"schools' is a stretch, but it certainly must give Eli something to worry about. Most importantly that if Webb starts ahead of him, he will struggle to get past and if Chase is out front, 2,3,4 positions ahead, that championship lead is looking vulnerable.

Its possible Chase wins all remaining rounds.. just think about that for a minute. Eli cant go sitting behind Webb in 5th if that is going to happen.

True, Eli is so on and off this year it has to be concerning for him. I kind of think it has to be the new bike. They just don't have the settings for it that work on some tracks. Eli and Webb are good at that track. Not yesterday though! Webb had it right, they sucked.

Eli was way off all day though. He even overshot the first turn in the heat race like a rookie.

He does but with 7 wins...that tells you something is a bit amiss.

James said on the broadcast toward the end of the race that Webb put in a lap time faster than anyone else by 2 seconds...and his personal best lap time.      Hard to hear Coop say he "sucked".

Ando held him up in the beginning....and then just laid over for Tomac a few turns later.   I think that kept Coop from sticking with the leaders early on.

On a side note....it cracks me up to hear people say Eli was watching Webb and gathering data.       No way you give up even 1 point doing something like that...no way.        Tomac was just off yesterday.

As for Chase winning out.      Time will tell....but I'll wager he cracks again at least once....

Don’t count sexton out. Anything can happen in Sx, and usually does. Interesting 4 races, coming up. Everyone is still tuned in, no one rider checking out. 🏁🏁🏁

It's also why he never managed to beat Dungey for a title.  Dungey was too consistent for Tomac to have rides like he did yesterday.  He can get away with it now because Sexton seems to crash while leading which has cost him major points, and Webb, while riding great, isn't quite up there with Sexton or Tomac.

I don't think I'm the only one that is surprised Tomac only has a six point lead, yet has 7 wins, more than triple what Webb has.  Tomac has failed to make the podium 4 times this season, and it's cost him what should be a comfortable lead in the series.  It's good for us fans, but I doubt Tomac is happy about it.

I was going to say something similar. Webb is basically a worse version of Dungey. Which is obviously still amazing. But the point is that Tomac can and has beaten Webb for championships because he’s not quite at that level Dungey was. Tomac’s rides like he has had this year would not win him a championship in any year from 1993-2017. With the possible exception of 1997.

The two years Tomac won his titles he didn't have these weird races. So I would not be surprised if he doesn't win it this year. I hope he wins but can he put together four good races in a row? I'm not sure he will.

Webb is going to get rough now I suspect. I think he wants it more than Eli does at this point.
