What brand has the best contingency program right now and what have you liked or not liked about contingency programs you've been a part of in the past?
Kawi has best contingency right now is what I’ve heard.
KTM/Husky probably cover the most series.
Had a decent amount of KtM contingency, couldn’t put it towards a new bike purchase…. Did not like that.
Kawi has always paid well and made it easy. They load it on a Mastercard that can be used anywhere.

If you're talking amateur racing then it all depends on what series you are running and how competitive you are. Here are the links to the manufactures contingency eligible race list:
Yamaha contingency
Kawasaki contingency
KTM contingency
Husky contingency
Gasgas contingency
Honda contingency
Suzuki contingency
For example, I primarily race my local offroad series, ECEA. Yamaha and Suzuki pay out for 6 of the enduro races (but no hare scramble), Kawi pays for 6 and KTM and Honda will pay for 10 of the hare scramble races (but no enduro), while Gasgas and Husky will pay for 16 of the enduro races and 10 of the hare scrambles. Kawi pays $200 for a win, but only for 6 races of the HS series, Honda pays $100 for the win in A classes ($75 in B and C) for 10 hare scrambles, while Gasgas and Husky pays $125 for the win but for nearly every race of both formats. All manufactures only pay back to the top 3 in class for ECEA, but that changes for some series depending on class.
last season husky paid every race of our series as with ktm and gas gas, gas gas is just less, but pays futherback.
Parts and accessories only? I know the local dealer will let you use it on non ktm accessories and service.
They changed it this year. All three brands pay top 3 the same amount.
we have all 3, so thats good.
Yes, the dealer I”m using down here in Florida has taken it for non KTM parts and service, which has been good as I had to use it up before losing it. Believe it’s only good for 1 year after earning it.
I think it expires at the end of the year it was earned.
I am not sure if this is just old school mentality, but I also gauge that based on what brand I see most privateers riding. Right now it seems like there is a lot of guys on green.
The past few years Kawasaki is the bike if you race pro sx/mx as they are the only oem paying for making the night show. For amateur racing you'd really have to check the series you plan on racing and compare contingency programs to where you'd most likely place.
We only use our contingency towards new bikes as we don’t live close to our dealer and it’s never been an issue
Now that pisses me off… maybe a dealer thing?
Mine has carried over to the new year, I thinks it’s a year from date earned.
I tell you what I don't like about this contingency stuff. Is your bike has to be like 2 years old to be eligible. That is dumb. If I can go out here and smoke a bunch of dudes on new 450s on a 10 year old 350 then give me my money. I just made the brand look good. How about we get bike prices back down to earth and I would still buy one every couple years.
How does them giving you money for doing good on a 10 year old bike help them sell current gen bikes?
Pit Row
Exactly!
it sends the message “you don’t need to buy the new bike”
exactly the opposite of what the manufacturer is hoping to be achieve.
Sounds like it. I’d try a different dealer if you’re able or question your current one about it. Or call the # on the contingency website and ask them? We’re on Husky but I can’t imagine KTM and GG don’t operate the same way.
Yeah I see your point there. Still yet if a guy can still get it done on your brand the help him out. Same goes for my kid just bought him a 2020 Husky 125 and nope already not eligible. Not like we would make much anyway if anything but man it sure would be nice if it was an option. To me it shows their durability more than anything.
