Kyle Peters has overcome adversity to knock down 4 championships.

If you're only talking arenacross, Budman won 5 in a row. If you're talking SX/MX as well, both McGrath and RC have done it. That's not to take anything away from Kyle, though; the guy is a certified badass, and if there's a gate falling somewhere in the world, that dude wants to be behind it.
RV won the sx title in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
I'm a big AX fan but most of the guys in the series aren't even full timers. There's like 2-3 guys in it, week in week out.
RC, MC, RV all won 4 in a row
In AX, Bowers, Budman both also did it

A roller coaster year for KP that's for sure!
Damn, you must be new to racing. Dennis Hawthorne won 5 in a row, Buddy Antunez 4 in a row and that is just arenacross and they all had way tougher competition than Kyle Peters.
If we are talking AMA side and combining SX and MX, nobody has won 4 in a row since RC won 5 in a row from 04 MX to 06 MX, and he also won 7 in a row from 00 MX to 03 MX. Villopoto and Dungey both got 3 in a row and Tomac is currently trying to match that.
Gary Jones? Counting the trans ams
If you're actually an "insider" and this is your attempt to stoke some interest in the series, maybe brush up on some history in the sport first man. Just a suggestion.
I won a intramural volleyball title four years in a row
God, rc was unreal.
10 straight titles is crazy, that’s a 5 year run of everything.
On top of that he entered 19 series and won 16 titles! I’m not counting the warm up 125race in 97, the one off race in MX in 2001 or the year he retired to a partial schedule. He lost 1 125SX title his rookie year and 2 250 titles in his first 2 years, never lost anything else.
if only he was docked his points for illegal fuel instead of threatening to leave the sport.. history be different
You don’t know that.
Let's say it was illegal.
It's not like the other teams were running old pump fuel, how much difference do you really think it would have made to RC's performance?
It was illegal- had traces of lead, and others coped penalties that weren’t overturned for the same infringement . However while prohibited by the rules, it would have had zero influence on RC’s performance.
Didn't Reed and Ferry get docked for fuel?
Pit Row
Theres a young aussie rider thats pretty close to winning his 4th title in a row
But it would have had an effect on his results. If they docked him the points he said he would quit the season. So while the others took their lumps, he threatened to take his ball and go home thus winning the SX championship that year.
Yeah but who has the most bret micheals ride hard rock hard rewards?
not quite the same. especially when looking at regional SX. He could go on a tear on a 450 though.
That's a fair point. A little lead and any resulting minor bump in power certainly wouldn't have affected RC much at that time, but loosing points could stir the pot.
I vaguely remember the complaints but didn't remember the upshot of it, thanks to the both of you 👍
Was this another 'one rule for this guy, one file for those guys' deal like it sounds above?
Back then it seems like whatever happened, Ricky would have found a way to make up any points and still win, but favouritism sucks where rule enforcement is concerned.
Kyle Peters is awesome, he is great to the fans, especially the kids, definitely one of my favorite riders. But Michael Hicks also won his 4th consecutive arenacross championship this year. Would be awesome to see them battle throughout the year, they always put on a show!
I remember that. RC threatened Feld and AMA that he wont show up if they dock his points just like anyone else that had got caught with illegal fuel. They rolled over and never gave him any penalty, such a BS move in the sport.
The whole fuel testing thing was the BS,
RC was just the first that had the leverage to call them on it.
I just listened to an interview with Hicks. He seems like an awesome dude. I know he and KP have raced each other multiple times recently, but I hope they’re in the same series in the future.
From what a factory mechanic during that time once told us, they had one can of race fuel poured it into 3 different fuel jugs, took it to the AMA for testing and got 3 different results back.
Phfft....Matthes has 4 Manitoba titles....
That was funny to me all that bs it showed the incompetence of the ama feld. It was a new thing some teams got caught up in it. Because nobody thought to think about the old storage tanks from before having traces of lead in them.
It was such a small trace of it, it wouldn't have mattered. Definitely no performance enhancement. First team they hit was a smaller satellite team. So they just took it in stride.
Then when they hit suzook over it they tried to play tough guy and got called out over it.
