In January, he posted on his insta that he had to have his shoulder re-broke and put back together right, because it was healing the wrong way.    At that point, he said it would be another 6 months recovery.

I don't think he will be racing until 2025 unfortunately, I know that God can work miracles but we won't see him racing for a bit, I honestly wish they started a vlog,

I hear ya. It’s tragic. He’s such a good presence at the races, let alone being a good rider! Thoughts are definitely with him 👍

Latest IG posts. He’s got a big healing battle before he ever starts thinking about racing again, if he chooses to do so…

Definitely an after thought at this point , he probably more concerned with increasing his quality of life his the recent pod he said he trying to come with terms he may live in some level of pain , which hard to accept as a 20 something year old. It s sad man had a feeling he be fighting for top10s. I had scoliosis surgery at 27 in the end of 2021. It’s hard to fight day day when you live in some type of pain especially in your 20s . I’m not religious but my thoughts are with him and hope the burden gets eased for him

I crashed and crushed my left foot in November of 2000. I had a few surgeries to fix it and I had about 6 months pain free after  a couple years of day to day pain.  And then the pain came back and I was dealing with pain that was between a headache in my foot level, to needing to use crutches to be able to walk level's of pain for another 7-8 years after that. I was 23 when I first broke it.  After all of those years and hunting for a dr. to fix it, I finally was able to get it fixed to the point it is no longer on my mind 100% of the time. It feels like I had 11 years stolen from my life while I was dealing with the pain. I found meditation and chanting to help , along with keeping my mind busy doing whatever I could do. I think that nerve damage is the thing that is keeping the pain away for me, along with the fixing of some dead bones and getting rid of the infection that had developed. Then I had to deal with the after affects of all the pain meds, antibiotics  , etc. that still to this day 20 years later pop up and I have issues.

Although they were rough years, I am glad I went through those things, they made me into , what I feel like is a better person , and allowed me to see things from perspectives I never would have before. I came so close to taking my own life that its scary to think about. It gets very , very hard to deal with pain everyday. I had made peace with that just being what would be . But thankfully I was able to heal and prove many Dr.s wrong. I really hope he is able to recover to be able to be pain free. And I hope he is able to make the best of this injury by turning his life towards a new direction if that is what he wants or needs to do.

Think about Mitch Payton, if he never had that crash that put him in the chair, we may never have had Pro Circuit.  Lets hope that he has a full recovery and whatever his path is, that he is able to be happy and pain free.

Some of the worst things that have happened to me , have moved me onto a path that I am much much happier to be on 90% of the time. I hate seeing anybody hurt, and having to think about the possibility of dealing with pain for the rest of their lives. Now that my pain is gone, I can reflect back and see some good that came from it. If I had never gotten rid of the pain, I'm not sure I would be able to see those good things as easy as I am now.  I hope that he has good people around him to help him through these next years . I hate that injuries are such an unavoidable part of this sport.

I'm listening to this now.  Interesting so far.  The head injury part is scary. Ian Trettel had a bad one in his first pro race that ended his  career. We had him on the show I used to do with my friend, and it was such a bummer to hear him after the crash. Before it he was so set on MY and becoming one of the best. Scary how fast Your life can change.

That was well said, Sir! Sounds like you found your way with a lot of determination, and hard work. One can only imagine what could happen without both of those traits.  Well done.

FFS what a major digger he took...  Sad..hope for a speedy recovery brandon but given the list cld take years!

sounds like some major issues with those engines (previously) wonder how many other teams are throwing rods on a regular basis?.

Brandon mentioned he had insurance but needs to be very comprehensive?

hopefully AMA mandates a suitable level of cover for all teams.

That was a hard read.  Just thankfull he can walk.

like the positives that will hopefully help in rehab - he is fit and bones are strong.  The mental side I hope going forward he has friends to help with that - dunno why but not surprised at CWebb being a ‘good guy’ away from the races.

That ,  being paralyzed , was always my worst fear when I was riding.  A friend of mine ended up cross rutted out on a slower trail ride and hit a tree just right and became paralyzed from the neck down. He has gained movement and is now able to drive by himself again. He has been an inspiration to me when I was dealing with my injury and in life.  He started his company while injured and it is doing well .Another friend of mine lost his leg , from the hip down. He broke it badly enough that it was not able to be saved. He is doing well and is a great mechanic now and he has helped the Irish MXDN team with logistics when they come to the Us.  Another friend had a similar ( to mine as far as infection and long-term issues)   injury to his lower leg  and is recovering from a recent MTB  crash that resulted in a  few broken vertebrae . He has his own successful business .   And another friend that I used to ride with had his throttle stick and over jumped a jump by 90 ish feet. He was a top local pro level rider and he hit the jump wide open in 4th or 5th and went to let off and the bike decided it didn't want to.  He broke his jaw in 9 spots. Somehow other than that, and 9 root canals, and a concussion he was ok. I got photos of the crash and his wrist was bent backwards, and feet, I don't know how he was not hurt worse. He was knocked out and snoring for almost 2 minutes coughing and blowing blood out. It was scary to see. The year before that he had the second fastest average lap time to RC at Southwick in practice.  He was never the same rider after. But he also has his own business and is doing very well with it now.

We all had insurance that covered most of our care, as far as I know.  But I still had to pay out of pocket for some " uncovered" stuff. Some meds if I was not going to be on them over a certain length of time..   But even with all the medical stuff covered, I still had the regular day to day bills. I had insurance on my truck loan so I got a few months of that paid. But there is still so much other stuff. So keep it in mind when a rider is asking for help $$ wise. They still need to eat, have a place to sleep, power bills, heating/cooling , ETC. those bills do not stop so even if the medical stuff is covered 100% you still have everything else. And You have to deal with it in  a state of mind that may not be the clearest. So any help that people can offer can help. Even posting some positive stuff on the riders social media could be the little thing that helps push the thoughts  over into the positive side.

When my friend that was paralyzed got hurt , a big group of his close friends put together an auction to help cover some of those costs, and provide some $$ to purchase something to help with mental health. RC cars, video games, etc. can help take your mind off of the pain and hard work that recovering from a big injury requires. But that stuff is not covered by insurance.  He was able to buy a van, and a SXS so he could still get out and enjoy himself.  It might sound like silly things, but it can be very difficult to have a positive state of mind when you are hurt, and the main income for your family. Especially if your injury might even make it not possible to do the job you have been doing.

Due to personal experiences I always say that the mental side after serious injury is as important.

I totally agree!  You have to be mentally strong to be able to get the physical strength back. Positive thoughts can help overcome a lot.  At the time I was hurt , Dr.s were just finding out ( at least that's what I was told at the time) how somebody who is really active and stops being active all of a sudden  can  become depressed. When you stop being really active your brain stops making the chemicals that make you feel happy. And you go from large amounts of them, to much lower amounts and at the sametime Your in pain  and a lot of bad stuff is going on and it makes it easy to slide into a bad place.  When I found out that it was a normal thing that would go away, it made it so much easier to deal with. But if I had not opened up to my Dr. about it, I may not have found out.  It was like a big breath of fresh air to find out that it was just another part of the injury , that would also heal.  Since then I have made a point to let other riders know it can happen so they can get ahead of it.

I was working while listening to that interview with Brandon, but it sounds like he is getting a handle on the mental side of recovery . But I'm sure he could still use help. I'll have to give it another listen and see what I missed.

Bump. It's been a while since we've heard anything on Brandon's progress. Anyone know how he's doing?

He’s running Alpha Motocross Dynamics (partnered with Cooper Webb). He’s done racing but it looks like he’s living the good life with his wife.
