I had one of those!  Young and dumb and didn’t know a thing about revalving suspension.  Just try to hang on better than the next guy!  Wasn’t fast but I looked like Roger D.  lol

Good times!

So its sitting at Kaplans place ? Did you buy it from them ,or is it just on display. ?

I do have a set or 2 of extra Simons not being used, but they have recently went thru the roof in value from what we've seen at Mid Ohio last summer. Not sure Id cut a set loose , but I may......

I picked it up the 250 recently from being on display at Kaplans since last year.

If you are selling any of your Simons forks wit triple tree I would be interested.

engine and fuel system has been treated with fogging oil for long term storage.

I had a 76 RM250. One of my favorite bikes. Sure was a lot better than the 73 TM250 I had before it.

Please do glad you did! Beautiful moto fox replica!  I have a very similar 370 but with a PFR pipe and stock forks. Working on a set of Simons forks.

When you’re talking about NOS and fogging, I was picturing this:

I see the 125 and 370 have deep travel forks. Nice collection!

Yes I built these out of parts I had from a pile of RMs I found in someone's back yard. The 76 125 has 78 Forks and swingarm. I recently added Fox Factory shocks. (not pictured)

77 370 has 78 suspension pieces too. (Alloy swingarm painted black like the Team bikes had back in the day.)

Your bike looks great btw. Don't mean to hijack your thread.

I can see why they say the hot set up for the 76' bikes was to use 77' RM125 forks and I guess that includes 78' and onwards.  I really appreciate the photos.. This is a vintage RM thread now.

Sweet bike.  Ha, I completely forgot how small the pegs were on those bikes and those were pretty state-of-the-art for stock back then.

That is true.  For example my 76' RM 370 has modified pegs. A duplicate peg is welded to the existing peg.s-l1600 %2824%29 0.jpg?VersionId=8Ya40Oclu5vV4qzsjfcvEJ2

Q: How good was the '76 RM compared to the competition?

A: The RM test team raced and won at Saddleback on bikes that were bone stock other than tires and grips. That test squad was Bob Hannah, Gary Ogden, Ron Turner, Marty Moates, Bob Elliot; and the 16-year-old in the photo, Jeff Jennings. Their job was simple; "Ride 'em, race 'em, and wear 'em out boys so we can learn what breaks and what doesn't."

going from cyclone era bike to the redesign of 76' onwards must have been night and day in regards to handling.  Nice line!
