Not trying to start a war here, just curious. If the rule was passed so the 250 class would be open to 2 strokes and 4 strokes(amateur AND pro!) and if all the OEM's once again made their 2 strokes. What would be your bike of choice to ride, and the bike that you would rather see the pros on? Just a one sentence reply from everyone would be nice. No drawn out bickering, just everyone"s personal opinion! Guess everybody knows were I stand. One vote for the 2 stroke!

If I had the money, today, to go plunk down on a new bike, I'd be struggling with a decision between a KTM 150 or 250SX or an RM250.

Sorry bout that. I did not read close enough.

Suffice to say, Ive only got the 450 as no 250SX available this weekend.

glad I saw this first...

I still like my 2000 RM250...a 250 4 stroke won't move under my abundant mass. I am riding a CRF450 which is turning out to be a great bike for me.

Given complete free will on a 250, it's the 06 RM hands down. It will hold it's own against anything IMO.

I have been having alot of fun on my 05 yz125 latley. I would take a 250 two stroke over a 450 any day.

Regardless of what the pro's ride, I'll be on a pinger. The only way I see myself buying a thumper would be in a quad or pitbike.

Any 250 2 stroke.

Getting ready to get a KTM 250SX OR 300XC since they are the only ones who care about real race bikes these days.
The YZ is a winner with great motor and suspension.
I love the RM handling-RIP.
My Husky was fast and well built.
The KX was good too-RIP
We all know about Honda.RIP and good riddance. I will never buy anything Honda again.

I am loving my YZ125 the more I ride it. Most fun ever! was that one sentence?

The regular Joe would probably go with the 4-stroke and I think that the Pros would as well, at least most of them.

250 Two Stroke


Our 06 Yam 250F is sitting ( spent more on rebuilds then I paid for the bike)

Our 09 Yam 250T is racing (He lines it up in whatever class they let him) put 40 hrs on it , still ran excelent, then spent $900 rebuilding/freshing it up for Loretta's. Local races around here in So Cal wont let it run with the 250F's, so we line up against the 450's

Our 06, Yam 125 is fun

When he is ready for the 450 he will get one but my bike of choice will be a 250 smoker untill they make a better bike for the weekend warrior.

KTM 250SX with a Varner built motor.

I hope DC passes this rule this yr. The privateer cannot compete in the 250F class as we sit here today. On top of that the sport is dying at the local level because of these 4 strokes.

I think a lot of Average Joe's are speaking up in this thread. Or maybe we've been stung by the 250F rebuilds and know better? I'm gathering from all this that the OEM's probably sell a lot of 250F's to ignorant folk that know no better. Since a lot of them are possibly buying their first bike and trying out motocross, I wonder if they will just ditch the sport altogether when they have their first expensive blow up?
