The broadcast. I'm not a troll or have an axe to grind, I'm just a dirt bike fan that has to speak my mind on this. I've been here before, kicked a few times. You know, for saying things like the broadcast sucks, making fun of Slater Skins, acknowledging that James Stewart's secret weapon was Adderall, and saying that this forum has been much better without GuyB. We'll see how it goes this time. I might not be around long again.
Here's my rant, oh where do I start? How about the beginning. I cringe when I turn on my favorite sport and I feel like I'm front row at some kind of hybrid Monster Truck, Nascar, Nickelback exhibition. I put significant effort into avoiding watching or listening to shit like that. Why do we need fireworks, intro videos that are clearly trying too hard to appear "extreme", announcers that are yelling to create fake excitement? It's totally ridiculous. It's such a breath of fresh air to watch MXGP and see none of this crap.
Now I won't rehash everything everyone is already bitching about the announcers and camera crew/production. They suck, there is no way you can say with a straight face that they don't. I don't want to hear it, just save it. Many have mentioned how it seems like it's just a couple of guys having locker room banter and not calling the race. I agree, and they are not even good at that. Again, referencing MXGP, Malin is alone. I think this makes a significant difference. Even if he wanted to kick it with the good ol' boys, he can't. And clearly, he's not being fed a bunch of useless and completely uninteresting story lines that he has to talk about during the race. It's so simple, just find someone half as good as Malin, fire the rest of the crew and just call the race. It's not rocket surgery.
There is so much more to say but this is too long already. For future discussions: The Atari level interface using half of the screen for background, the audacity/incompetence of attempting to bring back that millennial lumberjack impostor, Screech, etc., etc.
I don't have any confidence that any of it will change anytime soon. As long as it is under the same bro club management, it will suck. It's just a hard pill to swallow because I love Supercross, but it is going backwards and sometimes seems unbearable to watch. Please save the comments of "you should be happy it's on TV" or "turn the volume off". I mean dammit, this is the 21st century, none of us should have to suffer this. Some kid with his iPhone could probably make a better show. I have to go before I punch something or somebody.
2nd sentence starts with..."i'm not a troll"...but has 1 post.
Did you miss the part where I said I have been here before?
Change “Moto-Related” to “Broadcast-Related,” it’s more than half the topics anyways these days.
It's because it's a show, not a sport, https://www.feldentertainment.com, end of story.

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
That is a big part of the tragedy.
Any announcer who gives the sport global credibility by not making us look like a bunch of fist fighting mud-hogging red necks is exactly what we need. Todd Harris, Will Christian, Diffey, Blair, Weege - they all succeed at this. Emig was also outstanding. Obviously Bailey was but that goes without saying.
So unless you’re talking about Ricky (and we’ve covered the problem there in other threads - he’s being pressured by the “suits” to conform to their program rather than be himself) then I don’t see anything to complain about. We should be grateful we have so many solid announcers, and the British accents help us A LOT.
Blame Travis, Brian and Mike!!!!
That's a really long read. I didn't read all of it...
That being said , I like watching really fast dudes on dirt bikes go around a track. Weather it's SX , Nationals , MXGP , or what not. As long as I get to see the actual race , I don't pay to much attention to the talking in the back ground. I get to see it all , so I've got no complaints.
Would be nice to have an option to mute the announcers but still hear the racing.
My 2 cents.
Watch the uninterupted broadcast, a mix of the leader and any battles.
Show the leader board until the the race has fully ended.
I want to watch the top 10 cross the finish line.
Any replays, or rough behaviour should be shown after the finish, before the interviews, or during the breaks.
Let them babble and crap on, as long as I can see the racing.
Would be a big improvement, but no reason to not address the announcing.
Place is definitely better without GuyB.
Other than that, I'm agnostic.
..Turn off all those excessive lights and music in Vegas so people can go there to actually gamble!
Feld is selling both a show and a race. Some people want more experience than just watching a race, and the show is part of the fun - especially if you have kids
And you didn't take the hint when you were bounced...go away.
The theatrics have been part of supercross for longer than op has been alive.
I just want to know one thing. What the hell is "rocket surgery"?
Wow, damn boy. The SX broadcast means a lot to you apparently. 😳😳
It's hard, like Brain Science.
Pit Row
For the life of me, I just don’t understand all the hate for Nickelback. I’m a 70’s rock and 80’s hair band fan,but I actually like most of Nickelbacks releases.
The sport is treated like a show not a professional sport, like WWE.
My pipe dream for this sport to go to the next level is a MXGP/AMA merger with world supercross and motocross world series. with that kind of a series I think it would be taken more seriously like MotoGP.
Well.... I have to entirely agree with you here.
its horrendous. too many people will take whatever crumbs the suits at nbc deign to throw our way.
they will never do what liberty media has done with their biggest property because they continually treat the average consumer like derps.
Should have proofread your post and kept this one, single, sentence....
"I don't want to hear it, just save it"
Exactly. The outdoors don't have video's and fireworks on the broadcast or in person, so compare that to MXGP. The show is great IMO and could be even bigger.
Think he has some valid points. Well, I have to agree, the theatrics make it kid friendly show, not a sport, which it is.
FELD don't care about the racing fan because they have them hooked they are trying to capture the none fans attention with all this fill in crap.
Broadcasting and production do suck. Full on circus monster truck shitshow. Not how pro motor sports should be.. What else should we expect from a circus monster truck company.
I turn the TV volume down when it gets too much. With that said I appreciate peacockfor broadcasting the races. See it here! SUNDAY!SUNDAY!SUNDAY!!!
I'm usually watching with current and former racers, and we have our own commentary. After many beers, it's more entertaining.
ya go enough times around the Sun and you simply get tired of most "talking heads"...
Post a reply to: It's bad, it's really bad........you know what I'm talking about
