I'm sure you have seen the Tomac news. Some of you would have seen it yesterday! I'll explain...
I was on Yamaha's site, looking for something, and saw that PR was published. I got it up, as we usually do.
It turns out someone at Yamaha screwed up and posted it early. I did the respectful thing and pulled it down.
That's why we were deleting topics about it. It wasn't our error, but it's nice to do things by the book.
That's the story of a hectic twenty-four hours, but at least it's official now!

You can imagine my shock when I went on Yamaha's site and saw a story about Tomac doing outdoors, haha!
As long as the guy is winning fairly easy he will stick around. Why would he not ? Sexton and Jett are the future but when ?
Lewis, any chance that Tomac may have been ‘convinced’ to race outdoors by some cash considerations by the new SMX partnership? Start money sort of thing?
I’d been wondering if he might be persuaded since it could look bad if they couldn’t get one of the top guys to do the entire series the first year it was in place…..

I bet the WSX owners must be a bit upset about this news I’m sure they were going after Tomac for their series and were offering a large amount of money again for him to race
i couldn’t see any world where they’d give him start money. They have a star studded field already. This was more Yamaha and Eli coming to terms and Eli deciding he’s happy to continue racing and it’s what he wants to do at the moment.
WSX = a waste of his talent.

ML forgive me but I don’t understand the difference between Yamaha releasing the Tomac announcement Friday night or Saturday morning?

Yamaha had it scheduled for around noon Saturday to coincide with Tomac's interview on Race Day Live.
Yeah, maybe they should have just let it go once they made the error... At least we got to share it twice!
I'm sure the potential prize money/bonuses tempted him, but no way there was start money.

IMO, its a credibility issue, if you knew , and observed their embargo, that is fine, if you knew and spilled anyway , that makes your life difficult in the future, but jumping through hoops to pull stuff down, when its not your fuck up... thats a life lesson for someone to learn.
Its difficult to fathom how often these press amnesty happen, lol. How hard is it to send out an email at a specific time?
Maybe its because I work in an industry where press release has to be run through SEC, since if it's messed up, someone is fired at best or going to prison at worst.
Might have a lot to do with his win/finish percentages being so high this year and the accompanying paychecks that are rolling in with that….

I would probably agreed 3 years ago, but now that the biggest competitor to this series is paying top riders to show up, it’s a pretty different world than it was then.
I don’t expect the parties to announce it or even reveal it if they did pay him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of payment occurs. It’d be smart business for the SMX folks.
