I'm curious what the people think? I rode an Alta a few years back and was blown away with how good it was and how much easier it was to ride than my 450. The Stark (if released) will only be better.
Is it fair for these bikes to races against gas powered bikes?
I love gas powered bikes and will have one for as long as possible, in the same way I'd take a 911 over a Tesla any day, but I would be foolish to think that a Tesla versus a 911 at the drag strip would be a fair matchup. No clutch, no gears/shifting, instantaneous torque, perfect traction...

450/Open…and add an E class if the schedule
Open class means open
Local = Own class.
Pro Level = Own series.
at the local level it would be a thrilling race of one person

Does Birkenstock make a MX boot? I hate the smell of patchouli.
Open class.
I have no idea what it looks like at the local level, but the 50s have their own class at Loretta's.
Maybe allow them in the open classes? Age classes?
You picked a helluva onion to peel.
Haha I joke. sorry I couldn't help myself.
Electric bikes should be allowed to race against bikes with half the displacement. Oh, wait...............
Today is one of those days that proves that…
People, even many Motohead’s, have forgotten how to laugh.
Because, that shit is funny. So is RealityChecks post, above.
They should have their own class. Instead of trophies given out , they can give out pints , quarts and gallons of Vagasil.
Haha , I kid , I kid! Serious note , I would think they would fit right in the open class. But each track should just go by the vibe of what all the racers think is fair. That can depend on a lot of different variables I would think.
You need enough E bikes at the local race to justify having their own class. You're not going to create another class for 5 entries. For now you just run them in the open class. When there are enough, like 20-40 showing up, then of course they will have their own class, and why shouldn't they? This is a very simple example of supply and demand fundamentals. What you think is irrelevant. What matter is what people want when they show up at the track and pay their entry fee. There will likely be a day soon when ICE bikes are in the minority, like it or not.
Open class.
I hate the smell of diesel and that doesn't keep me from the races but nice dig on hippies
Hippies smell.
Whatever the race promoter wants to do?
Head to head against 450s is the most interesting, let’s see what the things can do against the state of the art. Unless the rider has a cheap/loud generator, then he should go home.
For those that say "just let them run in the open class", although a class is labeled 'open' that doesn't mean you can run anything. I can't turn up with my trophy truck and expect to run in the open class. I think the spirit of the open class is all else being equal, you get to run what ever displacement you like. With larger displacement bikes also come some significant penalties... handling, weight etc. Electric bikes are not only faster but significantly easier to ride and don't come with those same penalties.

I've reported you....
Twice.
I'm sure you smell great after a moto
I don’t try to hide my need of a shower with Patchouli.
I would think most people realize that you can't race a truck in a dirt bike race... but I don't see why someone shouldn't be allowed to race an XR650 or DRZ400 in the open class. Open to things with 2 wheels. Honestly trying to remember if I've seen it done in the past
450 and whatever skill level the rider is. 99% rider either way. You all should know that. Unless you don't race.
Open and vet classes are fine
My thoughts exactly.
They need to be in the open/vet classes just to compare. Then power limit rules can be drafted. Progress will happen away from local races until that happens.
MX Sports didn't allow Alta at Loretta's 5 years ago and never gave a timeline to integrate the "new and unknown technology."
Electric motocross races have been happening since 2009 and sanctioning bodies still haven't answered 14 years later.
Like the plague?
I was the first person I know of to race an Alta at a local race. I was allowed to start normal and got amazing starts, was told they would figure out some delay like have someone make me have me have my throttle hand off the bars. But it’s impractical and never happened. Open class always no 250 class is at least the starting point to fairness for full size bikes like the Alta or the fictitious Stark
Knowing how they ride, would you feel disadvantaged lining up next to a competitor on an Alta/Stark who is of equal skill and fitness to yourself?
It’s absolutely more rider then bike ,this doesn’t give a bad rider more advantage to have a fast bike
