Just got mine this weekend 🥳

After years of riding Honda it’s time to try something else. Just waiting for some good weather here in the Netherlands.

Airfilter system looks fine, just curious how the system is doing by the others? Read an article from MXA where they put the airfilter system in their ‘hate list’. It looks better than the Honda system for me…

Recommend laying the bike on the side when changing out a dirty filter and having a vacuum handy. Also recommend getting Twin Airs due to the foam on the sealing lip being thicker and wider. To me it feels like the filter cage doesn't seal really tight to the air box so probably why MXA recommends using grease. My filter wasn't that dirty and i had the bike laying on the side and even when being careful pulling the dirty filter dirt fell in but with the bike on the side it lays to where you can get the dirt out easily. If the bike is upright it goes down to the TB. Not the best designed air box by any means! Eager to see what Twin Air comes up with?

Just had contact with Twin Air. But a powerflow kit is not coming out earlier then end of March. So I think you guys in the US will not have it earlier then April unfortunately.

Yes, I called them right after i did my first filter change! LOL Thanks!

Yes, I think it would look good on the 22+ but mine is a 21 ):

Only 1 I had and it's not too bad from this angle. I mostly saw it on video footage.  From the side it just looked weird because the rear fender on these bikes is rather long, so the short front looked out of place. It looks cool on the new 450 though.

Yeah it mostly looks bad with the white. I can’t tell. For $25 I’m going to give it a shot I believe lol! I think that fender and a cycra stadium are going to look good with some star graphics in the blue version.

F43F205C-F7F4-4FA5-A520-CE2D4FC868DFThanks! Before I traded my ‘21 in it was meticulously cleaned, got all new plastic, refreshed/painted clutch cover, valves checked, and grease where it needed it. Every bike I sell or trade in gets the same treatment. Small price to pay to ensure nobody has any obvious reasons why they don’t wanna pay what I’m asking. Plus the next guy gets a sweet bike that’s ready to rip. A roached out bike destined to sit outside at a dealer rusting away is not going to get you very far on your next bike 👍

that's a great attitude to have!

If anyone has a spare airbox cover they'd be willing to let me borrow for a couple weeks please let me know, I'd be happy to cover shipping as well as additional compensation.  Hoping to start developing the next generation of intake scoops for these bikes but haven't been able to get my hands on a cover unfortunately, which I need to create the solid model and verify fitment.

My new baby.  With the bare minimum for me - everything that I interface with.  Bars, grips, levers, pegs, seat.  First heat cycle down, LFG!

How much oil does the new engine hold?

My hope is more than the older engine's paltry 760ish CCs.

Last gen takes ~660cc. New one takes ~960cc

Nice! Basically a 1 liter bottle, no measuring. I like it!

First day at Redsand Mx park with new one. Busy day adding loctite and setting everything in place. First thing noticed was instant pull and power that felt strong at grippy track. Suspension felt too stiff but im underweight for springs anyway. Gearing didnt feel off like some have said mostly all track using 3rd but couple hairpins using second. Hard to say if turing is so different when just every corner endless ruts. More riding tomorrow.

What weight range are the stock springs for? I’m 156lbs, guess I need a set of softer springs. But first gonna ride it stock, we’ll see.

I just rode it with the stock suspension for the first time and I’m 160 pounds. Felt great to me. I’d just ride it first.

Good question. I'm 225ish (and falling) and while it was definitely soft, I never bottomed even at an indoor with a couple decent jumps..

Check your free sag to determine correct spring.

Based on previous heavier model 450f those 5.0 front and 58 back are good for someone around 80kg/175lbs. As im currently just 72/160lbs without gear I could see 4.8 and 56 springs working better even not touching settings/shims. Maybe different tracks and faster riders could get those stock ones moving but im not fast nor young.

Been trying to find a few items to have as spares but no luck. Anyone had any luck finding plastics and clutch fibers/steels?

I’ve heard that KTM clutch fibers will work. Don’t know what model exactly.

I emailed both Cycra and Acerbis about plastics and they both said they may have plastics out by the end of March-early April. Hopefully that changes and they can get some out to dealers a little sooner.

Nice! How ‘bout the clutch fibers and plates? I need a new clutch after less time than I’d like to talk about 👎

Anyone know where fibers and plates can be had for this thing?

Also check the clutch rubbers/dampers. I’ve heard they can wear out pretty quickly if you’re a clutch abuser.

Keefer said some version of KTM plates will fit and he was going to post part numbers but hasnt. Maybe you can DM him to find out.

Went out to ride with softer springs. Went from 5.0 to 4.85 at front and 58 to 56 at back. Clickers 4 softer from stock/0,3 rounds out shock, 3mm/100mm fork/sag and felt better than stock for my weight. Front felt soft and rear end high before rear spring settled little. Dropped forks to 1,5mm and couple couple clicks harder with 102 sag and fount great balance for fast track.

Seat is so thin at sides/back that i can feel frame sometimes. Weekend will test some Keefer mappings.

After washing bike got error code 8 but it went away before i googled what was it so maybe just water got wrong place.

I had issues with water in my main ecu connector. Worth putting dielectric grease in everything. The ecu is near the mud flap under the battery. Pretty easy to spray with water.

2/17/2023 6:46am

Funny to hear about problems with connectors. I was getting frustrated because I wasn't able to find my Yz's network on my phone. I pulled off the plate thinking I would disconnect the ECU and reconnect to see if that helped but come to find out the smaller plug had unplugged itself! Problem solved! Might have to throw some electrical tape on that to keep everything together and water-free.
