I just made a comparison between Jett's results during first night at A1 in 2020 and Haiden's night last week.
First practice session :
Jett =
9th position with a 1.00.906, fastest is Dylan Ferrandis with a 58.624 which makes a 2.282 seconds difference
Haiden =
6th overall with a 53.945, fastest is Max Anstie with a 52.918 which makes a 1.027 second difference.
Second practice session :
Jett =
12th position with a 59.883, fastest is Dylan Ferrandis with a 56.765 which makes a 3.118 seconds difference
Haiden =
6th overall with a 53.492, fastest is Max Anstie with a 52.128, which makes a 1.364 second difference
Heat race :
Jett =
6th position with a 24.085 deficit on Justin Cooper. Jett's fastest lap was a 59.145 while Justin Cooper was a 57.948 which makes a 1.197 second difference
Haiden =
4th with a 7.616 seconds deficit on Jordon Smith. Haiden's fastest lap was a 53.527 while Jordon Smith was a 52.990, which makes a 0.537 second difference
Main event :
Jett =
9th position with 45.924 seconds deficit on Justin Cooper. Jett's fastest lap was a 1.00.417 while Dylan Ferrandis was a 58.462, which makes a 1.955 second difference.
Haiden =
4th position with a 19.010 seconds deficit on Hunter Lawrence. Haiden's fastest lap was a 54.174 while Hunter Lawrence was a 53.082, which makes a 1.092 second difference.
Give it a rest…
I think this is just informative, not saying that Haiden would do any better than Jett in the future (Cianciarulo has only one 250 title versus 3 for Jett and Adam won his very first SX night) but that just gives props to the great results Haiden had last week
Jett went pro at 16… and only a few days after his birthday.. compare the age of your comparing times
Did Haiden not race a couple nationals last summer at 16? Didn’t he just turn 17 last month? Seems like splitting hairs

I'd say that settles it ...
Deegan will never beat Jett straight up. You heard it here first folks 😂
FFS
Compare their relative SX track experience at debut.
Jett, practically zero.
Haiden, half his life.
So I guess when Jett beats Haiden at southwick we can say “Jett has been riding sand his whole life” and that will be an acceptable excuse
Their both great riders. Jett is a phenomena. Much like Villopoto was. Just seems to grind out championships.
We really have to wait to see how Deegan goes, but I believe he is solid. Will be interesting in 4 years or so when they are both in the 450's together and banging bars. Should be some great racing. Either way, they both have great careers in front on them and im looking forward to seeing some great racing from both these guys over the coming years...
Jett is a phenomena all to himself. Whether that will be realized, who can say, but I’ve never seen this level of confidence and hype around someone coming into the pro ranks. It was even different than with Stewart. I’m not sure what to make of it, but this particular level of attention is somehow unique to Jett Lawrence from what I’ve seen.
Never heard of Mike Alessi I see
Yea that’s actually a good example, true.
Only once for me. Mike Alessi…and we know how that worked out…let’s hope for more for Deegan.
I’m no Jett fan boi, I’m just stating fact here.
Hunter, Max, and Jordan Smith are definitely not Justin Cooper, Dylan Ferrandis, and Christian Craig.
Yea, what a shitty career he had. I mean who in their right mind would want to be second in the nationals 4 times, with multiple wins and tons of podium, a couple supercross podiums and millions of dollars? The guy sucked.
Mike had a career that a lot of guys wish they would of had. Went straight to the 450 class out of Am’s, Podiumed his 2nd ever professional race in the 450 class against the likes of RC, Chad, Kdub, MC.
Probably should have won 09 outdoors too
To me the most impressive thing about Jett was just how fast he picked up SX. He went from "give him another year in amateurs" with zero SX experience to the front of the pack pretty damn quick. You could watch him learn every week. I remember watching him at STL 2020 and just noticing how smooth/in control he looked on an SX track after what, 3 months after riding his first real SX track?
DEEGAN IS A GENERATIONAL TALENT! 😂
Pit Row
Going off those stats Jett had stiffer competition, Ferrandis was one of the best 250f riders in recent years.
At this stage in their careers Jett had so many more gate drops than Haiden due to MXGP etc.
Brians plan for Haiden before the flu came about was to race a few years of GP's before he went pro.
I believe riding the bike comes easier for Jett compared to Haiden and that's not taking away from Haiden it's like saying Stew found it easier in SX than Ricky but that's a bit of speculation, the thing going for Haiden apart from his great skill is his determination to win he is one of those guys who won't settle for less, I just hope that determination keeps him off the ground.
You missed the point bud 🤦♂️. I didn’t say Alessi had a bad career, he had a very long and great professional career but his amateur competitors he beat all the time consistently beat him in the professional ranks. Compared to what he was hyped up as an amateur to be the next MC or RC he never lived up to that hype and people always had bad things to say about it.
read and think before posting next time, it will help you out in the future.
I think its a little early to be deciding much about how Deegan's pro career will go in the long run. He has had a great start. But its one race. As far as his competition goes , and comparing the riders Jett was racing to the current east coast guys now. 3 years ago I wouldn't have said that Craig, Fernandes , etc were the riders they are today either. I am excited for the future though. Deegan showed how he can ride , was patient and did not get caught up in other riders crashing. He rode a very smart and aware race. I wonder if he went into the race without expectations and rode without pressure, or what was going on in his mind. I think that his expectations or lack of , could have helped him stay off the ground. But I really don't know what he was expecting to do. He learns so fast that I think he will be really good.
I think that Alessi maybe over promised a little , but he did back up that Podium on a 450 in his second race. And he is right up there with the best of the guys who never won a title. Maybe if he had not hurt his knee that one year, or gotten run over by the entire pack at Red Bud he might have a couple titles.
I'm a Deegan fan, but... compare the level of talent on the gate in Jett's first SX vs. Deegan's. It's not close.
Deegan will do very well, but let's let him race at least a few races before we compare him to the fastest 250 SX rider in the world right now.
^^ this.
I don't understand why the 'Morans' keeps putting all of these expectations on these up and coming kids. LET THEM PROVE THEMSELVES and become who they're going to be and figure out where they fit in their perspective classes.

Rant over.
I agree . one race for anybody is just that. Give him a few seasons or at least 1. My above post was a little less direct in saying that. But that and we really do not know how the other riders he is racing right now will compare in 3 years either. It took Fernandes a while before he started winning. So you never know what history will say about any of the other racers or Deegan in another 3 years.
Deegans corner speed and ability to learn quickly have surprised me in the short amount of time I have been following his racing. But some people do not make it in pro racing after having amazing am careers. There is a longer list of the guys that did not make it than made it. I hope that Deegan is one of the ones that makes it and goes on to be one of the best. But one or a few SX races are not enough to say if he will be one of the greats , or one of the really good duys, or just one of the lucky guys who are fast enough to ride a dirtbike for a living and live out the dream of most of the people posting on here.
A lot of people seem to want to be the first to say they said a rider will be an all-time great. Jett is an amazing rider and is so good on an SX track. I think he could go on to be one of the all time great riders. But I still think its a bit early to say that about him too. Give him a season or 2 on a 450. I really do hope that in 4 years , we have Jett, Hunter and Haiden battling it out on 450's and some others in there too. And I hope more racers start doing some Youtube stuff with some real behind the scenes stuff like the Deegan's have. How about a TV show with the Lawrences and Deegans and follow them around like the Keeping up with the Kardashian's .
Make the comparison at the end of the year. Yes Deegan has been better Rookie SX season so far. Just the facts.
Age, experience, blah blah Jett grew up at the Dirtbike track riding everyday with an older faster brother.
I'd be super pumped on you putting that all in a graph. TiA.
This.
Wait....shouldn't we be comparing Haiden to James Stewart?
I can't keep up.
Jett had food poisoning on his debut.
He almost didn't race.
If Kaido wants to do an analysis maybe try it for their 2nd or 3rd races.
Let's see if Deegan has 2 national titles and 3 SX titles in 4 years time....
