Curious, and sad to know what their punishment is?

I bet he was out before this article even got published. The punishments in Northern California are ridiculous. When I used to live in Humboldt you wouldn't believe the catch and release of violent criminals  there. The Humboldt jail was nicknamed the Humboldt Hilton.

Public neutering.... the only reasonable punishment for such a crime.

In commiefornia it’s a crime to not be a criminal. The poor kid was probably brought in for questioning.

I guess statistically, one bike thief had to be caught by one of this planets police forces one day... Shame it'll probably take another 2023 years for them to catch another.

Lowest of the low stealing a kid's bike, even considering how low any kind of theft is.

Do the police still think all motocross bike are clapped out, gumtree/Craigslist $500 heaps owned by idiots or do they just not give a fuck or are they really that understaffed/underfunded? It seems mind blowing how many bikes get stolen and how few thieves are caught. Punishment is a whole separate issue, don't get me started on that...

I'm still waiting for all the Vital insurance salesmen to post up how if this kid had insurance the good citizen wouldn't need to come to the kids rescue.

Cops have no duty to protect you or your property

Wasn’t there a slogan or something that says otherwise? Protect and serve maybe?

kudos to the anonymous person that bought that young man a new bike to ride. The kid has obvious talent along with a good father that supports him👍

Most people don't realize (I didn't until somewhat recently), but this is technically true; there is no legal obligation.

Why is their motto "to protect and serve"? "Always fulfil the duty imposed on you by law, by serving the community and protecting all persons against illegal acts" is in the UN Code of Conduct for law enforcement.

So I think we could all agree that we’re happy that a bike thief finally got caught.

Why are y'all bagging on the police, they took the call, investigated and made an arrest. That's what we want, right?

I hope the thief is punished to the fullest extent of the law, and the Dad learns it's never a good idea to leave anything of value unattended and unsecured in a hotel parking lot.

For the record, I wasn’t bagging on the police. To the contrary, just pointing out to someone that claimed the police weren’t there to protect the public.

There was.    Now it's just "Sorry, our hands are tied, trying to stay out of jail ourselves".

Yes, with a sign that said “Please steal my kid’s bike and his dreams”. 🙄

Feed the thief's balls to a police K9 - while still attached. That'll deter some crime,

He was denied bail and is still in custody on several felony counts.  But carry on . . .

The guy came to Sacramento, CA in an uncovered trailer, with tarped bikes, in front of a hotel, and expected nothing to happen?

I don't know why person would think this is a good idea knowing the state of affairs in CA.

I honestly wouldn't leave a garden gnome outside in Sacramento or any city south of sac. What a shit hole that place is.

You do realize you’re running with the “She was asking for it” defense, don’t you? “She was dressed like a whore; so, she got what she had coming.” etc., etc., etc. …

The dude AND HIS SON were from OUT OF STATE & came to Sac for A RACE. It’s pretty damn obvious that they didn’t know Sac is such a haven for shit-bags; but, no worries…just continue beating on them.

The dude that stole my truck and destroyed it got probation for 6 months and no restitution. I was just out. There are so few incentives against bad behavior in our judicial system. He got slapped on the wrist guaranteed…

But need to need to be smart about securing, insuring any items of value in any city. Thieves suck, being unprepared sucks also.
