I rode a mates one yesterday at my track,I’ve been on multiple yz’s for 10 years, currently on a 22 kTM 450.

the 23yz feels lighter than my 21 yz250f and my current ktm,especially coming into corners and while in the air on jumps, feels more flickable ,ergos are good (I run the handle bars rolled back 1 line on all bikes)

power and response was unreal,there so fast,it does wheelie very easy,that mid range was surprising,feels much faster than my kTM 

felt stable at speed but does wander around the track a bit,front end felt a bit washy/graby coming into corners but may be to much rider input.once in the rut it feels awesome and holds nicely and in courages lean compared to the ktm450.

I was quite surprised how different it felt compared to last gen yz. I didn’t expect to be able to feel much but man this bike is really good.can’t wait to see how light the 24 yz250f feels if this yz450f feels like this.

For now keeping the kTM as its so easy to ride and stable but will pencil in a yz for the future 🤙

Where did you have the fork height set?  Did you try dropping the forks?  Sounds like you might be a candidate for a slightly longer link arm.

My son broke ours in today.  He LOVED this thing.  I could tell immediately the bike turned better just by watching.  He did a moto on his 22 YZ125 with full suspension and ROCS on it to get warmed up and he said the 450 turns better than the 125.

Turns better, lighter feeling, slimmer, and he loved the power.  Said a little stiff, frame and suspension wise.  He didn't notice any unstableness at high speed.  He complained the 22 CRF450R was twitchy in the front so I was expecting the same feel with the Yamaha but no, at least not on our track.  

  We set up the bike exactly as the manual called for.  7mm at the forks and 98 sag.  I want to him to try Keefers setup next!

I tried the 4mm of the forks and 102 on sag and it was great. I would assume anything is gonna feel better than the Honda. Lol Keefer’s map was really good. More on the bottom and made the transition to the mid easier.

It really helps with the front tire lifting unexpectedly, and adds stability through whoops without noticably affecting cornering.

I modified the 18-22 GYTR skid plate. The mounts bolt right up. Just drill new hole on the plastic.

I did have to get the Moster Edition since it was the only one availble, and I bought it in PA. So we have tax included in that 12k, and also all the bullshit "fees" dealers charge you. But oh well, Im lucky enough to be able to get one, and I wanted one, so I bought it. If I was trying to save a bunch of money, riding MX isnt the sport to be in, right? haha

To me it's surprising that the dealership can let the bike leave the showroom without the proper taxes being paid. So when they come due ... who pays and how much do they pay?

Obviously this will vary by state... but this is why you will see bikes with no title.

Tax has not been paid, and the only legal sale document is a certificate of origin. If you want to go to the courthouse and register it for off road use (park sticker, etc) then you will have to pay tax on it there. The title is not worth $600 to me since I do not need it. Some states will make you pay tax at purchase and then you can title it "for free" at the courthouse in your home state.

I've bought a few bikes out of state without paying tax. When you buy the bike, you just dont get a title. All you get is the office Bill of Sale. The only way to get the title for the bike is to pay the state sales tax in which you reside on the bike and then the DMV will issue you your titile.

No tax likely means MSO and no Title. Atleast here in Ohio. 

 

I live in Ohio. If I buy in Ohio, I'm paying the tax cash or not. If I drove to PA, I could pay cash, get mso, and off I go. I would be then "rEqUiErD" to take mso to my Ohio title office and have an Ohio title done at which point I'd have to pay my counties sales tax. Most people just hold the mso if paying cash, then give it to the next guy they sell it to. If they want to title it, they pay tax just as they would if there were a title transfer..... If that makes sense...

And if your state doesn't require a title to get an offroad sticker (CO doesn't require a title), then you simply never have to get it titled and pay the sales tax?

Correct, and my state (KY) is the same as the way meister said Ohio is. I get my bikes from Tennessee, and if I finance, do it locally through a bank and "pay cash" at the dealer. Out of scope, but I bundled part of my MC350 in with a car and they don't even care to be a lien holder because they have the auto as collateral. Works nice.
