Forkner crash A1

I've heard a lot of chatter on this so I'm curious if there's a majority.  Which option most closely matches your perspective of Forkner's crash on the start?

Not sure why we need a poll for this. Anybody that watches the replay can see he had plenty of opportunity to lift after the initial contact with RJ that he never fully recovered from.

It's not a matter of opinion.

I agree he could have let up, but when things go crazy during a start, sometimes you can’t react in time, or something strange just happens.

then again I was only a mid pack b racer so my lack of reaction time is my experience. I will never really know how Austin feels during that kind of situation

Honestly it looks like he went into kamikaze mode.

Honestly it looks like he went into kamikaze mode when he realized he didn’t get a “good” start.

bad luck ???

You know what is bad luck ? bad luck is Brian Moreau crashing on the first practice for his first ever ama supercross and ending up paraplegic at 18yo.

Forkner has no brain and has a lot of luck to always come back from those crash.

This thing has been split right down the middle since I posted it.  I like polls because they give you the accurate data from a much larger audience outside of the regular vital forum posters.

Some people on here are absolute dicks, in the other thread people saying he is stupid, can’t ride and should quit etc..

if you have ever raced, you would know how quick things like that can happen, you have to feel sorry for anyone getting hurt at round 1 after all that work in the offseason.

Unfortunately people twist the truth to suit their wants and needs. It's no more than what it's represented to be.

I've always been of the opinion that, unless someone cleans you out or your bike fails, it's always your fault.

Austin ran into the back of McAdoo, therefore it's his fault. Still feel for the guy, though. Kid can't catch a break.

Agreed.

I'm not a fan of Forkner.....but I hate to see that happen to anyone.  Worst of all the first race of the season.  He's had some hard knocks the last few years.

Sadly for him he only seems to get bad luck.  No idea of how he can change this.

Would love to have all the top guys able to race.

The one answer missing in this poll is maybe the most important. Was it track design? The start was particularly gnarly last weekend. I loved having the whoops between the split start but it took a lot of racetrack away. Does him or McElrath crash if it's a normal start? Both were brutal and can be attributed to a lack of room.

AC’s near death swap could also be contributed to the start setup. We’ve seen the split start work in the past when there is room for guys to move over. The whoops being there caused the guys to funnel down almost instantly and it didn’t work. The McElrath crash wasn’t due to the start setup IMO. That was just a matter of getting squeezed and the front brake lever getting hit.

Have you ever raced? I’m not being a dick, it’s a serious question.. Everything happens SOOO fast as soon as the gate drops, it’s easy to watch the slow-mo replay and say what he should have done, but the reality is things like this happen in a split second.

Not to mention the most important thing in this game is a good start and that's the main focus for all these racers ever since they were on 50s it is not in their nature to let off and give it up, but as you said it's easy to sit here from a perfect camera angle in slow mo what he should have did.

Sucks for the guy 2 crashes in a row that weren't 100% on him.
