That was me. We have literally pulled up on the road on our way to San Fran now trying to work out how to fill in the next 4 days and where to stay. My kids are devastated although thankful we at least got A1 in, I bought them those #1 plates to get signed and we couldn't get them done last week as I forgot the texta. If anyone wants some ponchos I have $60 worth getting delivered to our SF hotel tomorrow 🤪

Not sure when you fly back, but there is an NGPC Race in Delano this weekend.  Not exactly SX but it will have a pile of FAST dudes racing and will be pretty decent spectating as far as off road racing goes.

 At least it's dirtbikes.

Bummed for you and the fam.

We fly home Monday. Have ended up at San Diego for a couple of days with the nice weather and will be back in LA on the weekend so will definitely check it out. Thanks!

They had the track completely built for a mud spec race. It wasn't because they couldn't build a track like some of you are saying.

I love moto. But I'm not paying $35 for parking, $40 per ticket, $100+ for concessions, and have to buy rain gear? All to stand in the rain to watch a slop fest for 3 hours? If I was a factory guy I would get other guys with me and refuse to race, kinda like Vegas when the lights went out. Imagine a bunch of top guys getting a dnf at the second round, because Feld had to run it. Screw that. But it's done so I'm done commenting on it.

You would get a bunch of riders to refuse to race in the mud…Really…….. I mean really? What’s next refusing to race when it’s too cold?

Yes with the track under water and it being the second round? Risk getting a dnf to ride around a track with standing water and risk losing a bunch of points? Ya I would try to avoid it, so would anyone else who was hoping to win the championship. But it's a moot point and they made the right call by cancelling it.

It’s those who wanted the race to continue whose “love of moto” should be in question.

mud races aren’t about talent, thereFORE the entire point of the series is likewise underwater.

why is this even debatable.

Seriously, on what grounds would these professionals say they are not racing? Danger? Is mud & water considered dangerous now?

Id fully support riders making a stand if conditions were unsafe, but a mud race in itself is not unsafe.

If a bunch of top guys got a DNF- so what?? It would be either they failed to keep it upright, failed to preserve the machine, or the team failed in preparing the bike to last. Its still a race.

You're obviously fairly fresh to the sport, so I advise you to go search Hangtown 1991. I cannot imagine Damon Bradshaw & Jeff Stanton complaining that their season was ruined due to a mud race.

Monster Jam at Anaheim is probably going to be a mess today as well. Been raining hard all morning/day here.

I don't believe they canx the race because they couldn't build a track or it would be too tough on the riders.

1.  Rain means lowered attendance.

2.  Local emergency services are probably maxed.  Feld was probably encouraged (strongly) to postpone.

Interestingly, watching the Seattle vs. SF game, the weather sure looks nice in the bay area today.

Well at this point it should be cancelled, or moved to the end, since they haven’t raced it. For the schedule now they need to move on to the next race. Past practice however, is that races are never cancelled (unless super egregious circumstances).

NorCalRedRider is saying specifically about spectators sitting in the rain, the track being a slip fest, about riders standing together, and about seasons being ruined because of DNFs.

so which part of the race specifically, is he suggesting is life threatening?

(not talking about what’s going on outside the stadium or anything else. Why is that so difficult to understand?)

It’s crazy to see the different regions of the country and how they react to different things. In Louisiana 1-4 inches of rain is nothing. That’s not discounting what happening in California, just saying how different regions are more prepared for different things.

It’s been raining like that almost everyday since Xmas. Winds were 30mph at 5:30 sure they could have raced though, might have even been a good race.
