I believe, if a "safe" track can be built...drop the gate.

If, however, travel and parking for fans/teams is deemed too dangerous...probably best to play it safe and canx.

The sport doesn't need to be in the news because little Johnny/Suzie drowned in their flooded out car trying to get to the race.

The race is cancelled for Saturday

I never thought they wouldn’t reschedule it

It sucks, but I understand the reasoning behind it.

It sucks even more for the people that were flying in from other states or different countries. There's a member that made a post recently saying his group flew in from Australia for the first two rounds.

This is probably the best decision to reschedule. Given the stadium's history with flooding, and how bad things are looking already on a Wednesday, and that there is an open weekend to move it to, it just seems to be a sensible decision.  Yes, a lot of people are affected and there is a cost with that, but at some point if things are bad enough it actually becomes "irresponsible" of Feld to try to hold a race when public safety in the area is at threat from weather.

Flame on.

Not to argue semantics but the race Saturday is postponed per Matthes. Cancel would mean to not reschedule the race.

Yeah, that would be a tough pill to swallow.

I don’t have time for all that. Call it whatever you want. My ONLY point was there would not be a race held on Saturday in Oakland.

I'm good with a Tuesday or Wednesday race like during 2020....     Sucks for the riders who won't have a week to recoup....

Sorry, i wasnt clear, its not that i dont believe you lol, just curious whether or not its a fact that they will most likely cancel or if its speculation based on the conditions. I'll be bummed if its canceled, but also understand there needs to be consideration of the logistics involved in being able to even build some semblance of a track.

Let’s face it there’s a lot at stake here, Feld wants the race to go on, for financial reasons. Feld puts on a show, they really don’t care about what the teams or riders have to go through, it’s their show and they will run it how they want. The ones who bought tickets will either have to sit in the rain to watch the mud race or lose their money. Unless they cancel it and refund everyone’s money. (Insurance claim)

But when the show will suck and nobody really wants to deal with the reality of racing in the mud/rain and TV viewers will complain about the ”show”, it’s time to pull the “Insurance Claim”. They probably have a big deductible, but in the end would lose more trying to put the shit show on and go racing.
To be able to cancel the race and use their insurance policy to recover some of their losses, there’s probably a lot of red tape. I don’t work for Feld or have any insider info from any source making decisions. But I work in the motion picture industry and every now and then, they have to use an insurance day when weather or actor issues arise. It’s rarely made in advance and usually we are sent home, after we come to work, Not told to stay home.
The inconvenience to everyone involved is probably not high on the list for the insurance company about to take a big hit on the claim.

Let's just say I heard this from a really good source and leave it at that

Touche sir, glad it was decided today and not day before or day of. Now I gotta figure out what to do saturday night, its my wedding anniversary so i guess i could do something with my wife...yucky

I mean....isn't the parking and travel for the fans always fairly dangerous in Oakland?

If they had been able to build a track then it would be rain or shine, maybe they need to say "no track no race" Laughing They are insured with event insurance but they did the right thing by postponing the race. Yep it sucks but after everything got cancelled during covid this is just a inconvenience but its a bummer for people traveling to see the race so always buy Trip insurance.

That was me. We have literally pulled up on the road on our way to San Fran now trying to work out how to fill in the next 4 days and where to stay. My kids are devastated although thankful we at least got A1 in, I bought them those #1 plates to get signed and we couldn't get them done last week as I forgot the texta. If anyone wants some ponchos I have $60 worth getting delivered to our SF hotel tomorrow 🤪

Plus California declaring a state of emergency might affect Feld's ability to hold the even as well.

Its cancelled because they cant even build a track...its different if the track is already built. But with left over dirt from monster jam sitting in inches of water you cant even begin to build a track..its soup at that point.

Not sure when you fly back, but there is an NGPC Race in Delano this weekend.  Not exactly SX but it will have a pile of FAST dudes racing and will be pretty decent spectating as far as off road racing goes.

 At least it's dirtbikes.

Bummed for you and the fam.

Build the muddy base and just make a layout and put single roller's on it an let them have at it.

Wouldn't it make more sense 250 East-West wise to postpone it to April 1st weekend before Glendale (Have back to back races in glendale) instead of in between florida and texas ??

Seems like a logistical nightmare for west only teams, truck drivers as well as teams to keep west bikes on the truck the whole time.

If Carmichael, reed and bubba had to do it in 2007 AT&T park why cant these legends with Superior equipment

People are dying because of this weather, California is in a state of emergency, we have been getting hit hard for weeks on end, flooding, land slides, roads washed away. All non essential travel is to be avoided. It was the right decision.

I have no doubt the boys would race no matter what but when it gets dangerous for fans and infrastructure...gotta cancel/postpone.

Exactly. The WHOLE point is it's not happening under a deluge this Saturday night.

this is worse. they can't even build the track guys. and wHy would we want to see this excellent start to the points chase ruined with a mud race where everyone is basically at the mercy of fate. c'mon. thankful Feld saw the obvious problem here and rightly acted on it.
