This... The correct answer was given all the way back on page 1. If you didn't understand this post, you should work on your comprehension.
What's a moran, like a Kevin Moranz super fan?
This thread was peak Vital (how many peaks is debatable though).
ML also delivered, as above, if you want to go out there and hit it, you can call it what you like and us normies can just smile and nod. I assume they go off of distance / commitment to send it now most obstacles are uniform size, so *maybe* some instances could technically be seen as incorrect, but they know what's what.
You all realize we are just talking about piles of dirt here, right?
He's right guys. double on + double off = Quad if you jump the whole thing. Its just simple math. Now stop calling it a triple.
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
3 mounds of dirt. Stop calling it a quad.
THEN WHAT IS THIS? Its a "single mound of dirt? Its still a quad. Its most definitely NOT a single if you jump the whole thing.
An oddly shaped tabletop
A tabletop is not a double either. It's a tabletop.
-If you land on the tabletop from the first single, you doubled onto it.
-If you downside the tabletop from the first single, you doubled over the tabletop.
-If you takeoff from the first single over the tabletop and land on the downside of the other single, you tripled.
People call it a quad to make it sound more impressive than what it really is.
Here's a legit quad.
A tabletop is literally a double with the middle filled in. So yes its a quad. And the video he went triple, quad, and wait for it.....QUAD with a table in the middle. #boomroasted #michaelscott
If you fill in a double, the gap is no longer there which turns it into a tabletop.
By your definition, filling in a supercross triple would still be a triple.
Watch the video again. James goes triple, quad (over 4 mounds of dirt)
I thought they were mounds?
NO, I said a tabletop is a double filled in. I did NOT say a triple filled in is still a triple. That would now change it to a tabletop, which is a double because there is only 2 landing spots. On the top and the backside. A triple has 3 landing spots, backside of takeoff, backside of middle single, backside of landing.
For the love of God....
There is 2 private SX tracks by us for over 30 years.
The top is 4 singles, which cleared in one jump is a quad.
The 2nd could be a single, tabletop aka 1 jump 1 landing, and another single.
All jumped as one is a triple over the tabletop.
For it to be a quad, you need to take out the center of the tabletop.
Nobody has ever "doubled" a tabletop. All they have done is simply jumped the tabletop as one jump.
Correct. The track next to us has a 150 foot tabletop. It is one huge jump.
It has never been a double, triple, or quad. It is just a tabletop.
Don't we jump a double as one jump? or a triple or a quad. Its about the landing and takeoff options that you are jumping over that make any jump considered any sort of a multiplier.
5 single folded 1 dollar bills is the same as a single 5 dollar bill.
Or is it 10 dollars?
Literally none of that correlates.
But let me ask you this since you're an Engineer of some kind...What is the ratio of Stanley Nickels to Schrute Bucks?
However many mounds/hills of dirt you use to make an obstacle to be jumped in one leap was the original terminology. Somewhere along the line ego’s got involved and confused the shit out of everything with take offs, landings, landing areas, on, over, off blah blah blah. Mounds of dirt! 1, 2, 3, 4. Uno, dos, tres, Quattro!
…../1\…../2\…../3\…../4\…..
…../1\…../ 2 \………./3\….. Let’s say (2) is a tabletop and (3) is far enough away that you can’t get over it from off of (2). It’s a triple all day long, never a quad! Never! It’s 3 mounds of dirt. Notice there is no (4) anywhere in that sequence. Land on top of (2) you came up short or cased the double. Call a Lawyer!
Pit Row
Jeff Ward calls it a triple. Go to the 7:48 mark.
Same obstacles in a different order.
Single-Single-Tabletop this weekend.
It's not for the riders to decide. Some riders call this a whip and some call it a scrub, while others call it a butt whip or nothing at all...
The guy in your image isn't at all who @ML512 is referencing....
you see, I sit back, sip my beer and just smile cause you freaks are the only people on earth that will create this epic infographic to argue over what is/isn't a quad. Love you guys.
I said this early in the thread but a long table top on it's own and a shorter tabletop in a rhythm are two different obstacles..
You don't say 'oh look at them skimming the 15 singles'
I say anytime you are jumping over two defined landings and landing on a third it's a quad
If you take a 70 ft triple and fill it in, it is a 70 ft tabletop now.
If you add a second mound of dirt beyond the filled in tabletop, it is now a double. Not a quad.
If quad means 4, why do so may quadtards call their quads bikes when bikes mean 2 wheels?
The answer lies within your very words.
That’s actually a double that identifies as a triple believe it or not.
The goat spoke last night on the broadcast when B Ray cased the "triple" into the corner before stoppie over the berm. Game over!
