Alright vital-ters , I’m in need some opinions and I know you like to give them. I have ordered a stark but with all of the delays, I am realizing selling my old 450 was a bad idea. That said, I am trying to decide what bike to get for a year until the Stark is shipping. I have narrowed it to the YZ450 for obvious reasons or the 300sx to jump on the injected two stroke train. My primary riding is at the track on the weekends as a professional practicer. My wants are a reliable bike that can lug my fat self around with a smile on my face. Based on this, what bike are y’all feeling would be a better option? Any opinions are welcome (other than telling me how the Stark will destroy moto as we know it).

I'm a Yamaha guy. But I'd say go with the 2 stroke. Until I read you are planning on selling it fairly soon. Then I'd say get the 450. Better resale value.
I’m a Yamaha guy with two Hondas in the garage LOL. I do still have a YZ250F and a generator with a Yamaha engine! So I’m still a sort of Yamaha guy. But I’d get the two stroke if your just a go to the track non racing guy. If I was a racing I’d go Blue all the way.
Get the 300sx, you will be able to have more fun riding that bike until your stark comes in and their not as demanding as the older 2T.
If you are a lugger and enjoy riding 4 strokes, get the 4 stroke. The 2 stroke is still a 2 stroke. It's harder to ride, will take more effort than the 4 stroke in all conditions.
The 300SX is a fantastic bike, but just because Jacob Hayes, Keefer, (name another professional rider) says it's a blast, doesn't mean it will be a blast for a novice out of shape weekend warrior.
There's members here who sold their 4 stroke after hearing the 300 hype and already are looking to sell the 300

I just came off a 21 450 FE, I’m 215 lbs without gear, I race maybe three times a year and the rest is practice sessions at the various tracks. I bought a 23 TX300 thinking I’d ride some woods and get a new 23 yz450 for Moto which is what I do 99 percent of the time. I was 2 seconds a lap faster on the 300 and my lap times are consistently better then the 450. The other thing I noticed was I wasn’t sore as hell the next few days and I can ride much longer on the 309 then the 450. Lastly the bike is so fun to ride. I’m not saying don’t get a 450 but you owe it to yourself to try and ride one. And yes I have sold my 450 and cancelled my 23 yz450. I love the tx300 so much I bought a 300sx.
Buy them both, fuck it
I think you are looking at this from the wrong angle. First, which bike is cheaper? Does this allow for the daily caloric intake to increase? Maybe and in my personal opinion this is the most important question you need to ask yourself. Which bike looks best in the back of the truck while trying to pickup some strange on the way to not go riding? If you can answer that, you KNOW which bike it is.
The only correct answer. (Other than CR500 of course)
The real question is do you want good forks or tubes of garbage, save yourself the headache and get the yzf
Not common knowledge but the 300sx is more mellow having less aggressive power delivery than the yz450…..Just in case you didn’t already know.
most rider harder for longer on it.
A 2st and 4st are 2 different styles of riding. If you are used to riding a 450 4st I would stick with the 4st.
If you aren’t planning to race, get the 2stroke and be the envy of all the other vet practice pros at your local track.
Problem is you can't buy a 300 SX!
I would probably buy one if I could find one.
I kinda agree! I wouldn’t mind having the 300, but getting the forks to work might be expensive!
Fork on the 23 300 isnt bad. Chassis on the 300 has more comfort than the 4 strokes. Have 23 hrs on my 23 300 SX.
Could be!
The last KTM I rode was a 2015 300 xc,
