Rumors of Swan MX is Closing.

Edited Date/Time 11/23/2022 6:26pm
At the track today and people are talking about Swan MX in Tyler is being sold to build houses. I’m not 100% on how true but I know they were trying to sell it. No matter what your thoughts on Swan are, would be a loss for such a long running track to close. I got my info from people who could actually know, but I’m hoping someone buys it to keep it open 🤞🏼.

I’ve never liked the idea of building houses over race tracks anyway. Lots of chemicals in the ground.

Bit of a shock to see this. I speak with Trey from time to time and it's not come up. I do know he and the whole Clingfost family have worked their butts off serving the moto community for two generations. And, at times, it's been exhausting and unrewarded. And new rooftops getting closer and closer were obvious as we drove to the track over the years.

If so, I wish them the very best in the next chapter. They've been nothing but enthusiastic and ardent supporters of the moto community.

Fantastic facility that Trey has worked his ass off on. Blows my mind that a National never made it there. That track puts Pala to shame (yes, been to both many times). I can see the possible burnout of the family as Trey has got to be in his early 50’s and looking to cash out. Lord knows we need more homes as over the last few years we’ve gotten a couple hundred thousand more humans on US soil…

Lots of out-of-staters moving to Texas and I assume home builders are offering fairly good prices atm. Bike prices and inflation cut down on regular folks affording to ride.

I hope this isn't true. Being a little selfish here, but the track is only one hour from me and I have been riding there since the mid 70's, so I would hate to lose my home track. Trey has always done things his own way and I hope what ever the future brings for him and his family is good.

There’s an old drag strip next town over from me, houses all around up and down but they can’t build on it for
That reason, dirt would have to be taken away and cleaned apparently

Just got this text from Trey:

Swan is not going away for homes,

Swan will always keep pressing forward to improve itself, to always be one of the genuine lovers of the sport and one of the true long term driving forces in growing our sport forward in progression, AND truly bringing new people into our sport, AND all the while truly sharing The BEST News Ever Discovered, THE GOOD NEWS OF CHRIST, AND THE HOPE OF IT ENCOMPASSING OTHERS LIVES!!!!!!! hfc3trey🙏

I spent most of my childhood weekends at our local short track and MX track. When you factor in the amount of oil leaked, fuel spilled, cleaners and lubes that seep into the dirt it certainly can’t be good to sustain life.

But then again, where can you even find clean pure water or dirt anymore?

Is the old track at Longview TX still going? I loved that sand/sawdust. There used to be tracks at Marshall and Ore City...crude but fun.

With the insane appreciation and inflation in housing we do need more supply

So glad this is fake news! Trey is such a great person, as are all the folks at Swan. Was very upset at the amount of flak he took after the Loretta’s mini regional, especially from local “trainers” who know how hard he works. It’s Morans like that who could ruin it for the rest of us, so I’m so happy we are blessed to have Trey and this facility to race at Fo a long time coming!

Thank goodness we came down in the spring hadnt been in a long time and forgot how good it was. On our list to make sure come couple times a year now. It's the closest thing there is to what Cooperland was. That's one we need back.

Cooperland was so good. Last time I raced there I landed on a kid in practice over the big step up and crashed hard in the off camber after the finish during my last moto on the last lap but still have good memories on the place. That was 2005ish. That track is totally gone now, right?

Our vintage club used to have it's Spring & Fall final races at Swan. Always a great track and could be modern & vintage friendly at the same time.

Good folks in Tyler. Glad to hear it's not going away.

Yeah hasn't been open since around that time. We rode there the last time it was ever open. Last owner stripped all that nice fencing out and scrapped it and land was sold at auction years later.

Wait, people are moving to San Francisco...on purpose?

There's at least 4 on that list I would never consider moving to. But glad to hear good news about Swan, especially after news of Canyon in AZ closing.

No. There not. Not a chance they are in the top 10 for 2022.
