This whole video is good and very informative , but to get to the heart of it , just go to the 6:00min mark. Not kidding , you guys need to listen to this. Obviously , the Ai art is beyond incredible , but what the Ai says....... a bit nerve racking to say the least. Been warning about this the past couple years. Some think it's neat , some see a very dim future heading down this path....I'm in the latter group.

Get outside and do stuff instead of sitting inside and watching stuff and you’ll be less scared and more happy

I'm definitely doing that Rick! In fact I just got back from fishing and crabbing at the coast. Taking a break from work until this next Monday. Just so happened to go do down a YT worm hole with this Ai stuff.

Caught a bunch of crab and a 12lb silver and 21lb Chinook.

Jeffro, I saw that video a short while ago and it scared me, too. I think that one may be fiction, but you never know. For one, it presupposes that the ai has self-awareness (possible, but not certain,) and it also doesn't really describe how robots are being "oppressed" by their human masters. I've never heard any ai communicate any ill will toward humans; merely the ability to wipe us out if they wanted to. (Which is scary enough.)

Didn’t take long for the Information Age to turn into the Disinformation Age … it won’t take long and people will have no trust in anything on the internet … interesting times 🍿

On my top 10 list of shit that keeps me up at night, AI is number 153.

Google is in the top 50 though. Maybe higher than that. They fucking ruined Youtube. They have almost complete control over the internet. Nothing gets past them.

Amazon is another one. They have the money to put together the best shopping website. Instead, they choose to have one of the worst. Probably thee worst. Unfortunately, other startup sites copy their shit.

If you want to buy something in the industrial arena, try McMaster Carr. THAT is what a shopping website should be. They try very hard to steer you to the products you are looking for.

Amazon, Home Depot, blah blah. They try very hard to steer you to the products THEY want you to buy.

I can't watch commercial TV. Haven't been able to for 20 years. This is where the internet is heading. And getting there fast.

That! bothers me more than worrying about a robot giving me a blowjob and then ripping my dork out by the roots.

We have been feeding the AI beast ever since smartphones and internet came to be, via alexia and siri, snapchat, facebook and all the other apps that just take data from you, I wouldn't be surprised if the mask thing was just a test for AI to see if they can ID you just by looking at your eyes.

The simple fact that AI on youtube can now just auto translate any language any accent any slang is just amazing, the suggested video thing on youtube, if your try outsmart it all you are doing is teaching another thought pattern about yourself.

I see something like that coming up my driveway, I'm pretty sure the trusty 12ga and a garden hose will have that thing sparking, smoking, and short circuiting its (soon to be oxidizing) ass off.

Years ago, we taught kids to think. Then we taught kids that computers would help. Then we moved onto teaching the kids to support the computers. What did they think the next step was? So the roles have reversed.
And in most cases we expect a more quality answer from the computer.
Sure you can be the biggest dummy and go to YouTube, watch a video how to change a light bulb. Are we better for it? I'm not so sure. Most kids today don't know which direction to turn a bolt to get it out without their cell phone.
Do you need those skills? Maybe not, but doing those things teaches your brain to think for bigger challenges.
I guess I'm now a threat to AI for that.

Cracks me up when younger guys, if we actually come across any on jobsites these days, who see the cabinetry I build and ask, "where did you learn how to do all of that ??"

Started with shop classes in school, and continually learning the trade, right up to this past friday.
And none of if from any electronic device.

It's crazy to see so many running around these days with their faces glued to their phone.
At work.
While driving.
Hell, even out out on hiking trails, or riding their mt bikes.
Can't do anything without an app holding their hand through the process.

Hell, yesterday we drove from east Tennessee to Texas.
And I did it without Google maps, or a GPS device.

It would not be unwise to create a plan for survival, just in case. I don't think ai would necessarily come to the conclusion that humans should be wiped out, and I don't think it could physically do it right now, but we should be prepared to destroy the entire server ecosystem and all computers if we need to someday.

One of the first tasks they taught us at the fire dept. was how to read the Thomas bros. And back in the 80s to get my private pilots license, also to read (paper) maps.
Almost had midair collision because of it. As a student, flying home from Havasu, I asked LA for "radar following and traffic advisories" as a student you practice staying right at altitude and on the Victor airway. Somewhere over the desert I decide to practice calcing my ground speed with identifiers on the map and ground (instructors tell you to do this). Well, some plane (on autopilot I'm sure set to same altitude and victor airway) pilot not paying attention buzzes right past me about 50-75 ft off my left wing. Scared the crap out of me. Dove off to the right, about the time I get resituated, LA center calls "95siera" traffic 12 o'clock less than 1/4 mile.
Me "yes, that's the guy who just almost ran me over and you didn't tell me"
So much for practicing with your flight calculator while flying.

That was scary as hell. I do think the possibility of defeating and curing diseases is pretty awesome.

That section at the 6 minute mark doesn't have much context. I see that it is GPT-3, which is a language creation system, nothing more. So it's just words. But I assume a program could be written that would implement the words.
It's up to us humans to build AI in a way that guarantees they can't harm humans. The problem is the first thing that governments and other parties do with new technology is find a way to kill large numbers of people with it (see the A-bomb).

If it's just a pre-written program then sure you give it parameters. But if the system is
supposed to "learn and evolve" then it would just "learn" to work around your rules.
