He painted some bitchin’ helmets, too.

Last I heard, he’s living in Australia and has been sober for several years. Always seemed like a genuinely good guy.

He just wasn't for me. Neither was Cameron.

Can't embed because it's restricted to YouTube. 47:54 for Bernardo commentating the "freeride contest" in Fresno Smooth.

Moto peaked culturally in the 90s!

I was trying to remember what broadcast he was on. Was it Motoworld? He was quite the character and I enjoyed his antics. He was affiliated with or started FAQU Racing. Everyone seems so serious these days and we need a little more fun on broadcasts.
Anyone have any pics of the helmets he used to paint?

The helmet in the center looks to be one of Jerry's (Black Rainbow) "Clown Road Kill" creations. My friend has one similar to that one, also painted on an Arai helmet that is tucked away in his garage, that has never been worn.

Arai seemed to be the choice pallet.

Here is a shot I took of Jerry from a NETRA Hare Scramble I believe from late 1991 that Paul Clipper used for the cover of Trail Rider Magazine for February 92 issue.

I have this Bernardo paint job in my collection. Jerry did this one for Mike Lafferty the year Mike won his first National Enduro Championship...

I remember a mention in Trail Rider about Jerry Bernardo being there (whichever race it was) riding a borrowed bike, wearing borrowed gear and living on borrowed time. Clipper was good.
