Was looking at the countries that are banning the sale of new ICE vehicles by 2030 last night. 7 years away. Nothing to see here, just dig a hole in the sand and stick your head in.

People fail to understand that is a 50 to 100 year process, JUST LIKE when people used to ride HORSES.
It took some LONG TIME to build ROADS all over the planet. To build CARS for all these people. The power grid itself took time to be built, but it is present in all over the planet! Houses... wifi!... Everything takes TIME to be built! The general infraestructure needs to follow this progress... So, just chill out people, jeezzz

In 50 years the push will be on to some other technology that has already begun to phase out battery power. in 100 years something will be phasing that one out. Think about where gas powered vehicles were 100 years ago.

Ford isn't planning to have everyone live in an electric van down by the river.

Fuel "availability" is controlled by the political party currently in power.

Always has been.
What if the road goes the other way?

The weird thing is that I dont see any push from the governments regarding electric planes and cargo ships, who are the biggest polluters when it comes to "transportation".
Cargo Ships will be hard to change... And no one wants delay in foods and materials.
Planes... hmmm I think I saw something about: "theres more than 20 small airports to each big airport in most of the countries" so MAYBE short flights could become all electric (those eVtols?) or something like that. Long Distance travel will continue the same. "Experts" say that it would be easier to simply "using more Skype for meetings instead of traveling by plane every week just for meetings" haha cuz apparently, LOTS of people travel just for meetings and simple things that could be done online. Its interesting... Im NOT in that social class at all, but I KNOW a friend who used to travel to lots of states here in my country JUST TO explain some stuff to people. Covid transformed his job. Now its just online and he loves that haha cuz he hates to fly. (tho he was single and enjoyed banging girls from other states hahaha but hey! "The less drunk drivers, the less organs for people in need" hahaha)
Society has becoming a very complex and integrated thing, eh?

Believe me... This kind of people will say its the eastern comunist alliance hacking the HAARP (whatever the name) and causing it haha which weirdly is making me think I should just go back to be a reader only haha just for the news.

It's possible that lithium (and other battery salt metals) can be extracted from ocean salt water as part of a desalination process that's likely to be needed in the future anyway.

Just saw a video of Carbon Engineering. Pulls CO2 from the atmosphere and turns it into fuel. Zero carbon emissions fuel. And you don't even have to change the engines we have now. its just like gasoline. Bill Gates backs it. Its a Trillion dollar market if the government wants to jump on board.

Cut out ICE and the price of a toothbrush goes to $20+ Do your homework and gain and understanding what fossil fuels are, how they are refined and what products they make other than “motor OIL and GASoline”. Refining and natural gas processing still has to happen to create 98% of the creature comforts that you use in your everyday life. Take away the need for gasoline and diesel, bulk of crude oil refinement, and the cost of every single other byproduct goes up to keep the doors open and product flowing. Want to find out how bad we depend on fossil fuel, try living like a caveman for a week. Not a homeless, not naked and afraid, a caveman. We are at least 100 years away from finding a properly scaled source of sustainable, consistent, renewable, environmentally friendly energy to fit our current needs. See the forest through the trees.

I do believe you are very wrong about the EV's being a "benefit" to the grid. California has brown outs constantly because of all the EV charging. People can't even run their A/C when its 90 degrees out. So clearly they strain the grid too much for people to use the grid on a "normal" EV charging level. Then you add in EV motorcycle charging along with your EV truck/car...not gonna happen. People will be running separate diesel powered generators for those chargers, completely negating the point of EVs "green" classification. Even though EV's are tremendously NOT GREEN. We use more diesel in the entire manufacturing process, especially the mining, than a diesel vehicle would produce in its lifetime. The entire EV fad is completely BS. Its not good for the environment. Make hydrogen cars. GM has an engine that the US government wont let them release to the public, and that was back in 2009. EV's in motocross just wont happen, plain and simple. Its not going to be a PRO class. Motocross is all about the sound, feel, and shifting. Its just not MOTO if its EV.

I do believe you're talking out of your ass. Cali doesn't have brown outs because of EV's you smooth brained nimwit. Cali has brown outs because there's 30 MILLION PEOPLE TRYING TO RUN AC!

EVs aren't nearly as big of a strain on the grid as people think...and hell...there's a very rapidly increasing number of people with EVs that aren't even on the grid. They have solar and energy storage systems right on their home. Literally ZERO impact to the grid.

Feel like you've been sniffing too much gas to see shit straight. Moving away from fossil fuels is a net positive change for the entire world. Deal with it.

Nice try at an insult, very classy. Spoken like a true brainwashed Californian. Just to show you that you're totally wrong based on what YOU said.. So you're saying the current grid can't even handle basic necessities for living where there is a hot climate? HVAC has been standard in homes since the 60's, and California has been hot for hundreds of years. And somehow you think adding EV charging to that same grid (that can't handle the normal power usage) doesn't add any strain to the system? Listen to what you just said. The only reason they have to use solar EV chargers is because the grid is crap to begin with. Bring some knowledge and common sense next time please. Love the conversation.
Lol. You ok there lil' buddy?

The only problem in your scenario is that none of that happened. First, it was 100+ degrees, second, nobody turned off their AC, third the power never got cut.

The state made an announcement that we are nearing capacity and maybe it would be nice to try to cut a little electricity usage to help. Like normal humans everywhere, nobody listened but what they did do was maybe hold off on doing laundry until after 9pm or maybe eat out that night instead of cooking at home with electric appliances. The usage dropped and nothing happened.

You see, nowadays you have to shoot high to hit a lower target so if they only said cut a little electricity tonight, nobody would have done it. Humans!

As far as EV's being the answer, who knows. Remember when cigarettes were not bad for you and air bags and seat belts were more dangerous than not having them? Time will tell so let's not get all wound up taking sides.

We are currently told that when demand increases, supply goes down and prices increase. You are saying the complete opposite.

So it sounds like you're saying use Oil for everything or else we will all be bankrupted back to Caveman times. Maybe it's a good time to get on the KETO diet. Lol.

It wouldn't be zero carbon emissions according to their media/website. In theory, they could produce carbon "neutral" fuel or use the collected CO2 to make 'green hydrogen' in some unspecified way.

Thats not what I said. I said if the gasoline doesn’t sell something has to keep the lights on at the refinery and that would be the sale of the light hydrocarbons used to make consumables. Google how a refinery works and what products do they make.

I also basically said, currently we use oil for most everything but most people are ignorant to the fact and simply think “fossil fuels” and the “oil and gas” industries only manufacture “motor oil” and “gasoline”. Additionally, there are no current scaleable solutions for a replacement.

The one in the article in Beaver PA is using gas coming out of the Marcellus and Utica shale, they pull way more gas than oil out of those wells.

Oh I also read California and New York are planning a ban of the sale of non-EVs by 2035 as well.
Connecticut, too!

Realistically, the ban will probably be in all states, because there won't be many gasoline vehicles being manufactured by 2035 anyway.
