Just for fun, what are the opinions on total earnings from all sources this year. Also, how do you think it compares to the MC, RC and Stewart years? Whatever it is, he earned it. Can’t wait for the “about three fitty” response.

Wasn't there a rumor that he took a lower salary with higher win bonuses with Star?

For fun I will guess $5.5 million assuming he got $100k per SX/MX overall win. Just a stab in the dark including sponsor money, all bonuses, and salary. Not sure how close I may or may not be.

Hypo: base from Star, 1mm. SX series win bonus 1mm. MX series win bonus 1mm. Race win bonus 100k per. Gear deals and bonuses 1+1 so 2 mm? 6-7mm is my guess once you add I the WSX money and random other sponsors like PPG

I believe it would be $6.5 million from you guess without including bonuses for 2nd and 3rd (assuming he made $290,000 for SMX). I think he won 7 SX and 5 MX. No idea what a bonus for 2nd or 3rd would look like.

There it is! I figured around 5-6 million. Not bad for doing what we all love. Hope he goes for the WSX “Championship “ and another $200-250k. Clean sweep, perfect season.

Give me a break... it's simple/fun thought exercise on a moto forum. If it's none of your business why did you bother clicking/replying to the thread?

Before practice tracks costs, travel costs not covered by racing, motorhome driver mechanic, all his costs to basically do business and tax...

At least 7 million from numbers I'm able to confirm or have a strong indication of. And there's possibly some I don't know of.

Justin Brayton said on pulp that he made $160,000 for winning his sx race. I’m sure Braytons deal is more performance based than Eli, but I would bet Eli makes more than $100,000 per win.

My guess:

Salary: 1.5m
Sx champ: 1.2m
Mx champ: 1 m
Win bonuses: 1.5
Wsx: .25m

I would guess: 6-7million

ML, JB said on pulp he made $160k for his Daytona win. Do you think that’s roughly what they all make? If so the Tomac and andersons of the world are making over a million a year just off win bonuses.

it would be neat to see the expenses. track maintenance, dozer fuel, dozer maintenance. practice mech, motorhome driver. motorhome fuel. health insurance. probably lots more

Recall hearing 450 is 100k and 250 50k for sx wins. All i know is it pays better and is way more fun than my job😂 hope the riders get some sound financial advice.

Very basic & rough calculation

$2M for bike
$1M for all gear
$1M per championship
12 wins @ $150k a win, $1.8M
2nd & 3rd place bonuses + miscellaneous sponsors, exhibition races, $1M…

$7M gross. $1M in expenses. Tax on $6M, 37% federal + 4.5% for Colorado. I would guess he’s gonna net $3.5M this season on the low end

Is it true that guys were making a lot more money in the early 2000’s?
I remember someone telling me that Reed & Carmichael were making upwards of $15-20 million per year in the prime of their careers, any truth to those statements ?

I think they were taking out huge insurance policies and making millions off them if I remember correctly.

I don’t think anyone reached $10M a year racing dirt bikes… RC might’ve came close with his $4.7M Suzuki deal but he didn’t have race bonuses, only championships. That’s around $7M with contract & titles. I don’t think he had $3M+ in sponsorship money & personal deals.

ML, what do you think these top guys spend outside of what is provided by the factory team, ie; Star?
I would have thought the factory for one of the top dogs would cover everything?

$7 mil in RCs time was like making at least $10 mil now.

Langston said he heard that he made 10 million at his best and asked RC, RC said yes. This was from his whisky throttle podcast. I would assume 2005-06 one of those years. Of course he could be inflating these numbers.

Stewart claimed in an ESPN interview that he made over $10 million during his 24-0 year.
