Echo was hardly ever open at all this year.

Southfork motoplex is the track most consistently open in KY. They are either practicing or racing multiple times a month.

I live in Tn about 40 miles from Loretta’s. We often go to Alabama to ride and race. There are a couple of good tracks in west Tn (Back 40 and Valentine Valley). Fast Farms used to be good, but they went too extreme and cater to A riders. That happens a lot. They start out with a good track and keep adding stuff until it’s not fun to ride anymore. We may go to LTM in Casey this weekend. They have the formula and if other track owners opened their eyes to this and copied what successful track are doing, they would thrive!

Hopefully we bump into each other before too long. We’re definitely in the same corridor. If you haven’t been to west ky mx it’s worth going to. You’ll have fun for sure.

Yes, I’ve been going there for many years. Every now and then Brad peaks everything up too much, but it either wears down or he rounds it back off and the crowds come back. Good folks up there for sure. Just look for an old guy that likes to eat riding #317 and you found me lol.

I guess one thing to take into consideration, and I always forget this even living here my whole life, it is larger than it appears. It's in multiple time zones and takes about 7 hours or so to drive across. So there are lots of choices of which part to move to, we also border 7 states. I can drive through Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana on the 275 loop in about 15 minutes.

They've been closed for nearly 3 months now.. That's not true lol. The prep is abysmal too.
Sorry, it's been a while since we've been there.

Yeah I agree. He’s not so great with the watering either lol but I’m grateful to have something so close. Are you on a kawi SR right now?

During the summer months with little rain his lake got low and he didn’t want to completely drain it. Next weekend is the KY state race with practice Saturday, race Sunday. With the better weather now I’d say he will be open like he use to.

A lot of good info here. I live in NJ now but I'm from Central KY (Lexington) and agree with everything people are saying. There's a ton of small backyard style private tracks and a couple of bigger tracks that have been mentioned but it seems like everyone has transitioned over to offroad series like Kentucky XC Racing (apparently built a MX track but haven't ridden yet and not sure if they maintain it at all) or even worse moved over to UTV's.

I bring my bike every time I drive home but usually every track won't be open because of this or that so I end up not riding. It's a bummer since there's huge potential there

I think it got shut down, due to some legal issues from what I heard. But I’m not 100% sure about that. I was there prob 3-4 yrs ago and yea it was a cool track at that time.
Soggy Bottom is still open. Thats where I got my grade 5 ac seperation last year and was my first race back this year. Not sure if they hold mx races or just xc races now and haven't seen much posted about open practice lately. It sucks DBMX got shut down that was my go to place for moto since it was just over an hour...OP my opinion is there really isn't much moto around unless you get in with private track owners. BUT I love xc riding and racing here. If I were moving here I'd look around the Georgetown area and north. That puts you close enough to Indiana to do the IXCR (superb xc series. Very well ran and enough competition to be fun but not overly crowded like gncc) also within drive to some tracks in the oh/in area and you still have KXCR for racing in ky. Also still close enough to travel to eky on the weekends to do some trail riding...I've spent many weekends up north racing. While the scene is better there, I still love coming back home to the mountains of eastern ky after the weekend. I live in the red river gorge area and a country boy at heart tho

Edit: Oh and as mentioned in the post above. There are 2 mx tracks on the KXCR training facility. I live 25 minutes away and never ride them since they are never maintained. I actually forgot about them and was there last weekend and spun a lap on one on my way to the woods lol

I appreciate everyone’s input! Wasn’t fixed in the KY area, but have a non moto friend there and I always thought it looked nice there. Been thinking heavy about Tennessee and North Carolina, those are probably my first two picks.

Will do! Have thought about even making a riding trip out that way in the next year or so.

Middle TN to southern Tn is really nice and pretty cheap. Close to all the nice tracks in AL. Within driving distance to tracks in KY and even IL. Couple nice tracks in GA also

As someone from KY and looking at moving back I'll probably be headed to Eastern Tennesse or Central / Western North Carolina instead. I'm really into MTB and Moto obviously being on this forum and both of those places are better for that plus it seems like there is more going on and on an upward trend. Most of all the small towns in Eastern KY where my family is from are really sad and falling apart.

With that being said, if you want to live out yonder with no one around for really cheap and be surrounded by beautiful scenery there's nothing better

From the Nashville area. I haven’t ridden in years since my accident but there used to be a place called the boneyard in antioch TN. It was pretty legit to practice single track. You would just least what ever cash in a coffee can at the gate and he would let you ride. Super cool family. Look up middle TN dirt rider association. They do rides all over including a spring and fall ride at LL. great guys

Western KY is one the best tracks of all mentioned IMO. The times I have been there he watered throughout the day and the track actually had some ruts in it not just hard pack flat slippery shit. R3 is solid too. Southfork is ok its a little tight tho.

NC is an awesome spot IMO. I like the city of Nashville for other reasons but moto wise NC would be my choice.

Having grown up in KY its not the paradise of tracks it once was..I'd suggest being closer to the Carolinas. Muddy Creek and a bunch of other facilities out that way.

Echo also tends to water heavily so you get deep ruts as the track breaks in.

Showing my age a bit here but I remember when West Ky was referred to as Lowes.. Also the real OG's will remember Triple Nickel 555. That place was fucking mint. The Little Sturgis Motoplex, 800mx.. R.I.P.

If moto is important to you, the Carolinas would make you a whole lot happier than either KY or TN.

As far as trail riding goes. I love eky. That’s the only reason I haven’t moved away. Wherever you choose to go, OP or anyone else interested in trails/hillclimbs, feel free to pm me and I’ll give you the hookup. Rankin is a good dude too and I’m sure he knows quite a bit.

I go to NCMP a lot. Been wanting to go to Morgan’s Corner for a while, it hard though when I have WCMX 10 minutes from my house and Jammin Jimmies 20 minutes away. NCMP is probably my favorite track.
