I think in those conditions and everything that was on the line, to get a 4th in that moto was incredible. I know there are motos with Stew, RC, Poto, where they actually won their motos on a 125 or 250, etc.
This has to be on the list of all time great motos!
Sexton and Tomac rode well enough not to lose anything. But Cooper had to go out their and earn this team that win, doing so with that amazing 4th place finish. And he was not far behind the leaders.
Considering that the USA hadn't won the MXDN in 11 years. And with everyone saying he was the weak link on the team, and with Tomac and Sexton doing just enough not to lose us anything.
Cooper shows up BIG time in that second moto and gets a 4th place finish!!
I mean, yeah he didn't win the moto, but that won the MXDN right there. Hands down.
Where do you think it ranks in MXDN moto history? Do you even consider it to be on the list?

Even Musquin's 4-3 in 2015 seems stronger.
Roczen had a 4th in 2012 (they won). (he put up a 2nd in 2011 and a 3rd in 2010)
Villopoto has 3 first place moto's in 2007 and 2008. This probably ranks #1 for me...
Of course the Johnny O 125 ride was remarkable.
There are others of course.
What Ryan Villopoto did, winning both his heats on the smallest bike back in Budds Creek, that one gave me nightmares.
Ken Roczen at Lake Wood Colorado, with an under powered Suzuki, that is also one of those moments I really remember about a rider going flat out on a 250cc bike.
Blake Baggett finishing 6th in Lommel, after his very bad first moto. Not that it deserves a place in the Hall of Fame but it was impressive how fast he was re-loaded and with some small adjustments he was racing totally different.

Pit Row
I really really really do wish they went back to class scoring. I think it more often made for interesting tactical decisions and scenarios mid-race, involved the team/pit-crews more etc. ie you don't need to pass that guy, let this guy go etc...
Now the predominant tactical factor is getting the 250 guy a start against 450s.
2013
Ferris 4-5
2015
Musquin 3-4
Martin 5-5
All class rides, Kiedrowski in 93 and I think Stanton in 91 both rescued team wins at the death, Lechien in Gaildorf I think 85 looked like he was just on another planet in the videos. Everts in Brazil made everyone look amateurish. RC on the CR250 against Everts in I think 03 was ridiculous and anytime I see the old Magoo videos I wonder how the fuck he didn't break the bike in half.
