If you think the mud and rain are what did team USA in at the 2018 mxon, then I'm guessing you didn't watch it either. Yea I was there and there was some guys from other countries that plain kicked our ass. I think it will be different this year but you never know.

last time it was here we had the worst weather leading up to it. It was constantly raining. This week has been good and Friday, Saturday weather looks like perfection. Current Sunday forecast calls for a 60% chance of rain. But that could change at any time. Weather in Michigan is bipolar. One thing is for sure. It definitely will not be as bad as last time.

Agreed. By the weekend last time the ground was absolutely soaked. If anything, we could end up seeing a hard & dry track if they hold off from ripping and watering it in case of rain and it then ends up not raining. Either scenario would play into the Euro's favor.

^ I say water it anyway. If you get a rainstorm that is going to make the track a quagmire, it will do so whether the track was watered or not. The only difference is in the extra half hour of rideable dirt you'd get to have.

I was born and raised in Michigan, still here. About 4.5 hours away from Redbud.. but I will say Mi. has had a beautiful summer this year. Even if there is a little rain, it won't be anything like the last one. I have high hopes this will be a special MX of Nations for everyone! If you're coming to watch in person, bring warm clothing, watch out for those Michigan potholes, and enjoy! Smile

Go off the local forecasters and not the big sites. Local forecasters know better. Here's southbends:

Saturday will be the warmer half of the weekend. Highs on Saturday will be in the lower 70s. Temperatures look like they will struggle to get out of the 60s on Sunday. There will be a slight chance of rain on both days. Neither day will be a washout, though.

2018 wasn’t even a mudder. The track conditions were absolutely fine for racing. Coldenhoff was jumping the leap in the last moto and the best lap time on the races on Sunday was only 7 seconds off the best lap time set in the first practice on Saturday when the track was perfect. The car park and the camping may have been a shit show, but it was a proper race

Not saying it wasn’t a proper race and all things were even but to say it wasn’t a murder is objectively wrong. Saturday and Sunday both had a soaked track. The slow and steady rain that came all week and weekend made the track insanely muddy and deep, not the typical top slick/slip from a flash of rain. The Saturday qualifying races were mudders and just because you put the word “only” in front of 7 seconds doesn’t prove any point. Grinning

Just saying that calling it “not even a mudder” is just dumb.

When DF is on the starting line with 2 sets of goggles on it's a mudder by definition

Dude I respect a lot of what you post but you are so far off base saying it wasn't a mudder it isn't even funny. That ground was so frigging saturated it was ridiculous. I'm not making excuses for my team either, they shot their own toes off.

That corner was a shit show, but most of the track was fine and it was a proper race. To me a mudder is guys rolling around not doing any of the jumps and basically surviving, it was a long, long way from that. Like I said, if you have riders able to jump the leap how bad can it be? It was wet sure, but guys were racing the track and each other. When I hear the word ‘mudder’ I think of a lottery that’s more about attrition than racing, and it absolutely was not that

I’m not saying it wasn’t wet, but the way people talk about it makes it sound as if it completely ruined the race and it was a lottery. That’s not the case, it was a proper race and the track in the most part was decent. I guess it really depends on what your definition of a mudder is. If it’s any time that the conditions are wet enough for it not to be perfect, then sure, it was a mudder, but I don’t judge it that way

A shower on Sunday will not make it a mud race... 2018 and 2019 were just unbelievable amounts of rain leading up to the event. This is not that... Wink

I know I know, that track can take a good amount of moisture, but I want it to be like Budds Creek 07. Just hoping it doesn't rain all weekend.

That hope is widespread for sure... I think we're looking at a few passing showers that will just help keep the dust down.

I hope....

Based on the current weather outlook the track could/should be freaking perfect Sunday if we get some light rain.

While not 70 and sunny I think Sunday is going to turn out far better than of those last four.

I would point out that before Matterley we hadn’t had a mud race at MXoN since 1998

Yeah I can agree on that. My point was that the rain/mud and how our guys rode in it wasn't the only reason for our poor results.
